Relais Villa San Martino, hotel in Martina Franca

Villa San Martino is an elegant establishment, surrounded by a beautiful green park, just outside the Baroque city of Martina Franca. Get ready for a pleasant, relaxing Apulian holiday.

Lovely room, beautiful setting. We arrived late in the evening and staff organised drinks and snacks for us which they brought to the room and did not charge us for. The next day I unfortunately was taken ill and again the staff were very solicitous . The breakfast (which unfortunately I couldnt eat!) was generous and of good quality and the waiting staff were attentive.

Martina Franca is located within the province of Taranto in...

Martina Franca is located within the province of Taranto in central Puglia. It has a compact old town, where you can still trace the ring of old city walls, puntuated by occasional round towers at corners. It's one of Puglia's "white cities", so called because the buildings are all painted in bright whitewash. It's a quiet city, but the old centre is equipped with some great restaurants, coffee shops and places where you can sit down and enjoy gelato. The city is centrally located, and parking wasn't too hard, which means that it's an ideal base if you plan to drive around the region and visit other cities such as Locorotondo (barely 15 minutes away), Alberobello, Matera and Lecce. It's also thankfully spared from the hordes of tourists that tend to descend en masse on other cities in Puglia, so it's retained more charm than some of its neighbours in the region.

This was one of the most beautiful apartments imaginable.

This was one of the most beautiful apartments imaginable. The 2 bedrooms are spaced widely apart for ultimate privacy. The decor and facilities are top notch. This owner did an outstanding renovation compared to so many that I have seen where the original home was "butchered" to save money. The rooftop terrace is lovely and we had a neighborhood cat who traversed the rooftops to visit up every morning. He didn't get close, just kept an eye out for treats. We didn't do any cooking because there are hundreds of lovely restaurants that we wanted to try, but the kitchen appeared to be completely equipped.

Martina Franc combines beauty and cleanliness with many of the services of a large city. The restaurants are very good. The cafes on the square are a great place to enjoy coffee and pastry while people watching. The people are friendly and helpful. My Italian is not good but if the person I was speaking to didn't understand me they found someone that did speak English.

Martina Franca is a charming town, not overly touristed, with many restaurants and bars. We especially like Muscato Bar for our morning coffee and cornetto and also for afternoon apertivi; Culo e Camicia makes fantastic pizza; fried pizza appetizer, and any pasta with with the homemade tomato sauce at Ristorante Garibaldi is THE BEST! The people of Martina Franca are friendly; many speak some English. It is a great base for exploring Alberobello, Locorotondo, Cisternino, Taranto, and Grotto di Castellana.

I loved how clean it was and the secured parking and how close it was to old town Martina Franca. I also liked that it was a Trulli home . The host helped me so much in planning my travels while driving.

Martina Franca is a beautiful town, probably a little overlooked by a lot of visitors because of its close proximity to Locorotondo, Aberobello and Cisternino, though it also offers a great base to visit them from. The town has some fantastic architecture along its streets, particularly in the old town and the piazzas are great locations for admiring the buildings and a bit of relaxation. There are lots of restaurants to choose from and with less tourists around you can really immerse yourself in the Italian culture and way of life.

We are glad to have an incredible stay at this beautiful house. It is only 5 minutes drive to the Martina Franca town. Their hospitality, attention to detail, the croissants and the special touches their family added for our 15th-year wedding anniversary made it unforgettable. The house was stunning, and their assistance in recommending local attractions enhanced our experience. We are grateful for the wonderful memories and look forward to returning. Highly recommend!

The house is idyllic and beautifully presented, exactly what is expected of a traditional stay in a Trullo. Property representatives Karina and Sudesh were amazing, super helpful and responsive. Even though it was Ferragosto, when the whole of Italy closes down, they managed to book us restaurant reservations and maintenance. Everything has been thought of and the location is perfect for visiting the many tourist towns, although you do need a car.

To stay in a Trullo is an experience on it's own. The place is really beautiful, nested within vineyards, just a short drive away from Locorotondo, Martina Franca or Arbelobello. The Trullo was fully equipped with kitchen, refrigerator and kitchen accessories. The breakfast was also very delicious. The wine tasting, which needs to be booked separately was a real highlight! The owners and staff are absolutely friendly.

If you are looking for real Puglia experience, there you go :) Very nice flat in old building, so you need to understand some of it's features, but everything was there. Inside you could feel the real atmosphere of the place! Close to the city center (you can see it from the balcony), spacious living room, kitchen small but with everything you need. Small grocery downstairs, all places with walking distance.

Wow, what an unexpected experience. We come from a rural district in Australia and this property was a great “find”. Our Trulli was great, we ate at the restaurant on site serving mostly produce from the farm and had the chance to explore the whole working farm. It was an oasis in a charming part of Italy. All the staff were very accomodating, especially with a couple of old Aussie’s who do not speak Italian!

If you want a taste of Puglia at its best, then go to the Masseria trulli e vigne. It's the perfect getaway spot working to the highest standards of Pugliese hospitality. Wonderful pool, wonderful food and rooms, but above all wonderful team: Sonia, Arianna, Donnatela, Simona, and Giuseppe, plus great restaurant team and brilliant chef. I don't usually go back to the same place, but I will this time.
