Great choice for food and quieter night away from traffic and good airport transfer. We were greeted after clearing customs (very quick) and collecting bags and shared with one other traveller. Room was quiet and dark for sleeping and a nice breakfast and dinner in the restaurant attached. The staff are so friendly and the whole hotel was clean.

Visiting Male added to our anthropology learning in a very interesting way. Male was totally different than local islands, busy, full of shops, markets, monuments, amazing park, cafes, restaurants. And superb exchange rate of USD/MVR compared to islands!

Male is best for a stopover for a night if you have an early flight as the commute to the islands may not make it possible to catch your flight.
When I flew in I was able to catch a ferry to an island I was staying. My flight out was very early in the morning so I had to stay in Male. Very crowded and stressful in my opinion.

Its very easy to go around, was able to walk everywhere, did not need a taxi. I would recommend eating out by the seaside restaurant, they have beautiful views and amazing ambience in the evening. Otherwise, I will not recommend staying in Male if you are on holidays, you can stay in the nearby islands and visit Male late afternoon.

Male is a beautiful, clean and safe city with very warm people around. Lot of small eating places around. Proximity to the local markets as well. Very easy to move around the city by foot, bus transport or taxi. Jetty's are available to visit nearby islands/atolls as well. This holiday in Maldives was most relaxing and chilled out!

Densely packed place.
Densely packed place. Few pavements, many parked motorcycles and very uneven surface. Stout shoes required. Generally polite locals but some prefer to hog what pavement there is and expect you to move, Don't expect too many smiles.
I have been to Maldives three times and this was the best. Not sure from where to start, we arrived in the morning, the warm welcome by the staff was sincere, we requested early check in and the villa was ready. The Resort is so clean, very green and the villa is very spacious and comfortable in all its small and big details. The smell of the villa puts you immediately into a relaxing mood. We were assigned Ouzz for our stay and he had definitely made it a special one with all his support and availability to address all our needs.
A quiet little hidden gem in the middle of a crazy busy city. Rooms were clean and had everything necessary. The best part by far was the host Rose who was so very pleasant and truly took care of EVERYTHING. They had someone waiting for us at the airport to transport us to hotel- complimentary. Breakfast was included and since we needed to leave early, Rose prepared us fresh fruit, yogurt and coffee at 6 am and then arranged for the taxi back to airport (also included!)
The restaurant at the hotel was beautiful and delicious.
First worth to mention, is reef, hotel is surrounded by the reef and has enormous amount of fish, paradasi for snorkeling. Every day we saw reef sharks like 10 times per day.
Second, this hotel is a combination of style and nature, pure beauty.
Service is another thing to mention, very personalised. You feel like everything is for you. And beavo to the Chef, kitchen is delisious!
It's our third time on Maldives and I can definitely say, it's the best experience.
Everything about Marukab Plaza is excellent. I love thee breakfast. Solicitously prepared buffet. The staff are exceptionally hospitable. Mr. Nayan was a great guy. He will do everything to ensure that our staff was memorable. One of the best is the complimentary airport pick up and drop off. I did not pay a dime for such services despite I had 6 ices of heavy luggages. Marukab Plaza is simply 10/10. I will recommend this hotel anytime, any day in Maldives!
A wonderful small hotel in the heart of Male and within walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, ferry piers throughout the islands of the Maldives archipelago. But most of all, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional cleanliness of the hotel and the room, as well as the availability of all necessary amenities: a kettle, coffee machine, microwave, dishes. Add to the above a comfortable bed, fast internet and helpful staff.
Friendly staff. Clean and spacious room and bathroom. Large very comfortable bed and good pillows. Good location; walking distance to city centre and a few very good rooftop restaurants and other eateries and coffee shops.
Close to airport; free airport pick-up and drop off.
Good breakfast.
The park opposite the hotel was nice. Good sea views.
The location is convenient. Initially I thought the cost per night was extortionate, but I realised by the time I arrived that it was by far the lowest cost of all other options available. Everything is so expensive on Maldives. Friendly, flexible and helpful host. He took time off work in order to be helpful.
Perfect hotel for a quick overnight stay in Male, before heading out to a Resort the following day. Good value for money, close to the airport (just over the bridge). Free airport transfers an excellent additional service, especially if you need to return to the airport to pick up a boat transfer to Resort.
Stephanie and the other male staff were very helpful. Stephanie provided us as many tips about where to eat, ferry schedule, etc even though she was only a couple months in Maldives. The male staff was very attentive and helpful, carrying the bags and even got us a taxi.
Hotel is in the center of Male City but due to the messy trafific not easily reachable. Renovated recently, very well equiped and clean with extremely frendly and ready to help staff. In spite of closed restaurant the breakfast was provided from the nearby facility.
Small hotel by the sea, suitable for 1 night stay before departure or after arrival to Maldives. Nice view from balcony. Pleasant restaurant on the top floor, very good dinner. Very friendly staff, easy free transfer to the airport.
Ease of communication, airport pick up, friendly staff and clean hotel and convenient location. We only stayed one night either side of our trip to the islands in the Maldives and this is an excellent over night stop.
Friendly, helpful and respectful staff in a secure small hotel for a very good price in a great city location with lots of people and activity. Everything was excellent!
we stayed a night in transit to a Maldives resort the next day. Hotel van collected us at airport and took us back the next morning. breakfast was light and just right.
After all, the prices of hotels in Maldives are not cheap compared with those in Southeast Asia. They are relatively clean and tidy, and the boss is very good!
Clean and welcoming. Staff were outstanding and accommodating for me to coordinate my trip to the Maldives. Transfers to and from the airport were flawless
