Invercargill is a great place to visit, plenty to do and see in the area.
Queens park is a must to walk through and around - a really beautiful park
Oreti beach is awesome as you can drive your car along part of it - not many beaches where you can do that!
Riverton & Bluff aren't too far away to travel to while you are in Invercargill - they are definately worth the visit
Bill Richardson Transport world is a cool place to visit as well, with a huge range of olden day vehicles to see.

Great auto museum and seeing Burt Munro’s bike at E Hayes Hardware. Also a trip out to Ōreti beach where he practised racing his bike and then onto Bluff and then Riverton, Colac Bay, Cosy Nook etc and onward to Gemstone beach was well worthwhile. These are all things you can do regardless of the weather.

Unfortunately the visitors centre was closed in 2020, so there was no information about what to see and how to achieve this. We were recommended to visit Stewart Island, apparently being the main attraction. You needed to book online but there was no information
about the trip. At a cost of $200 each, rather expensive. Drove to Bluff to find out for ourselves, 30 kms but even less information. Very disappointing. Not much in the way of restaurants unless you are in to Asian food. One shopping centre, not much in it.

Nice flat walking, the new mall has all the usual shops plus some additional surprises. Shopping is great, streets very clean, Queens Park is lovely and well cared for and there is a lot of city centre development going on with improvements for locals and visitors alike. Amigos restaurant if you like chili and Mexican food is worth a try.

Great city on the up.
Great city on the up. Good selection of eateries and things to do and see. Most attractions are fairly close to the centre, and the airport is 5 minutes from there. I can happily recommend Invercargill for a visit.

Invercargill has a lot to offer. Queen's Park is a must-see.
Invercargill has a lot to offer. Queen's Park is a must-see. Aside from the beautiful gardens, there are nice bird aviaries and farmyard animals. It's a great place for families with a nice playground and cafe. Bill Richardson Transport World is a highlight, along with Oreti Beach which Bert Munro used as a race track. Hubber's Emporium and E Hayes are fantastic shops with many interesting things to see. There is a nice new mall and we found some good places to eat
Very clean and well appointed apartment. Had everything we needed for a 4 night stay including kitchen and related equipment. The facility was serviced everyday which was a real bonus! The hosts were very accommodating and allowed us to leave our bags with them on our final day following check out. Just a few minutes stroll into Invercargill main areas.
Bella Vista Motels have a standard configuration so the room was as expected. We were only there one night so it was ok. It was raining very heavily and the exterior carpet on the stairs and walkways didn't handle the weather well. The motel is centrally located and it would have been easy to walk and explore the area if the weather had been better.
Beautiful modern hotel centrally located. The rooms were an excellent size with all great facilities and very comfortable. Car parking on site with very easy access. The hotel is located near to the main shopping areas and cafes. Wonderful cafes on site and a great view from the rooftop bar
AAA+ host and accommodation. Exceptionally clean house with everything you could possibly ask for. Very comfortable beds. High quality fixtures and furnishings. Oh, and all that for a very reasonable price. Infinitely better than staying at a hotel or motel. Again, a AAA+ experience.
The owner was very friendly and helpful when i checked in.
She took the time to chat and i felt very welcome. The room was super clean, quiet, and comfortable. I was staying on my own but felt very safe in the room (some motels feel unsafe for me when I am staying on my own).
Beiing In the Center of the City Center.
Very impressed how they did the old Post Office up with out knocking it down!
So close to the new Mall, bars and coffee shops. Its a different Invercargill that I once knew.
Will stay again!
Comfortable and modern facilities, really good value when compared to what else is available in the Invercargill area. I find a majority of the hotel/motel options are run down, this was a great option for me as a traveling salesman
I recently moved back to Invercargill from Perth and I wanted somewhere to stay, somewhere quiet and not too far away from home and I thought this would be the best choice. The family that lives/owns the hotel were very lovely.
Quirky, super-comfortable and clean. Lots of attention to detail and good communication prior to arrival to ensure an easy check-in after hours. It stands out as one of the best motels we have stayed in.
We travel a lot and have stayed in many motels in NZ. This is the one we would recommend the most.
This motel is not only super clean and tidy, but also very pet-friendly. Highly recommended.
Central location and free parking was great. Staff were friendly. Upon arrival the room did not have any towels, but the hotel staff were very quick to rectify this once we called.
