Very nice town has lots of shops restaurant cafes and pubs, nice beach and very chill. Town centre is very walkable. We by coincidence were there for carnivale which is 2 days of celebrations, was great fun, and the place is very family friendly.

I really liked the wide variety of places to dine and all within easy walking distance. Lovely walk along the beach and up to the viewing points. Very clean and in a great location for getting to other areas of interest in that part of Queensland. It’s a great location.

We have been regulars in Port Douglas for the last twenty years the most consistent restaurants are as follows
1.Zinc
2. Salsa
3. Iron Bar
4. Gelato place called La Capenina
Most people are very friendly and accommodating and walking along 4 Mile beach is great however if you’re a family and want to see the reef don’t let the experience be soured by the expense as you do need a bit of money however

Great family holiday destination; lots to do.
Great family holiday destination; lots to do.
Snorkelling at the reef, strolling on the beaches and in the rainforest. Hartleys crocodile well worth a visit.
Lovely warm weather; easy to get around.
Roading up to Cape Tribulation still slow and some surface flooding due to heavy rainfall whilst we were there.

Location is amazing, just a short 15-20 minute car drive to the famous Mossman Gorge - DONT LEAVE PORT DOUGLAS WITHOUT GOING TO MOSSMAN GORGE - a truly great place to swim but be very, very, extremely cautious whilst in the water - the currents are very strong in some areas of the gorge.
Port Douglas is very scenic and majestic with many beautiful beaches - most of which you really cannot swim as there are signs advising caution with the possibility of crocks and marine stingers. Port Douglas has a vast range of eateries - would definitely recommend staying/visiting.

Very quaint and clean city.
Very quaint and clean city. Lots of restaurants and shopping options. Beautiful beach and cool Wildlife sanctuary. Lots of things to do and see and a great starting point for so many other things, Daintree, Atherton, GBR.
Sue & John were the best hosts, friendly and helpful with everything. The location was perfect, walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops, we didn't really have to take the car out for small errands. Loved sitting on the balcony having tea every morning, surrounded by the lovely trees in the hotel front yard.
Also I forgot some of my personal belongings in the hotel when I left, Sue and John went way and beyond to help me get it back to Melbourne.
We would love going back to Meridian on our next holiday to Port Douglas.
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the Outrigger Holiday Apartments in Port Douglas. Close to all shops, the beach, the marina, and anything else you need. But also in a peaceful location with a great pool, spacious rooms and lovely balconies. Or get picked up on the doorstep for incredible day trips, including seeing the oldest rainforest in the world. The wonderful owners were so kind and inviting - and impart great local knowledge. We enjoyed every moment, except having to leave.
Sad to say goodbye to our cute as a button ‘retro’ find in P.D. … sometimes you come across a gem totally by accident and so glad we did .. loved staying at The Port Douglas Motel. Cute, clean as a whistle, funky rooms with great decor and a communal BBQ/kitchen area right beside the sparkling 60’s inspired motel pool area. Will definitely be coming back … oh .. and a quick stroll to everything P.D has on offer from dining to touring to art viewing .. loved it.
Beyond expectations - beautiful like a little villa on Bali. Massive rooms that have a private outdoor sitting area and shower, a mini kitchen, king bed, and big lounge area. Beautifully kept landscaping across the resort, large pool, honesty bar, and only a 15 minute walk into town. Also has gated parking. Such good value, and staff were very nice and accommodating. Will definitely stay here if we are ever in port Douglas again.
Super location only steps from 4 mile beach, awesome staff (Meghan and John). Super helpful at all times. Quiet location away from Port Douglas city proper and all the other hotels etc. Still very easily accesible by local shuttle and for tour pick-ups. Awesome accommodation that felt cheerful, comfortable, quiet, clean and very spacious. Close to wildlife Habitat and IGA. Pub across the street was fun and local.
By the Sea was an excellent choice when deciding to stay in Port Douglas. Close to restaurants, shops and directly opposite the beach . The staff think of everything. Beach chairs , towels, bikes ect. The rooms are decorated simply and tastefully. It’s not just another sterile hotel room. I felt so comfortable. Thank you ladies for a lovely 3 days. Will definitely be back, next trip to Port Douglas
The pools are amazing, the ability to order from your sun bed with QR code was great, and the new Asian fusion restaurant that recently opened at the hotel was exceptional, the breakfast especially. The swim-up bar was everything you'd expect it to be and more. Great location if you don't mind a 25min walk into town. Buses into town available on demand made it easy if not wanting to walk or in a rush.
This was the perfect place to stay in Port Douglas. Our apartment was bright, spacious and airy and looked out over palm trees with an easy walk to the beach or the town centre. The interiors are gorgeously retro without being kitsch. We loved our stay at Retro Apartments, and would stay here again in a heartbeat before any of the bigger resorts in Port Douglas.
Where do I start....a perfect complex of accommodation set on the main street of Port Douglas but set back off the road. Position was perfect. Hosts are lovely people which makes all the difference. The apartments are spotless, secure and sound proof. We have rebooked for April next year and can't wait. Thankyou for a lovely stay 😊
My family and I loved this house. We loved everything. The location, the pool, the home....everything! It was so clean, quiet and peaceful. It is a beautifully designed home and the owners were so welcoming and helpful in anything we needed.
We will definitely stay here when we come to Port Douglas.
The Villas are located right on the Main Street of Port Douglas. It’s an excellent location for restaurants, beaches, and shopping. You could walk everywhere. The villas were well equipped and there was laundry available. Our room was very quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Well situated, very close to everything in Port Douglas. Good sized apartments clean, professional, helpful staff, Sue who manages the complex went out of her way to help in any way she could, friendly and caring that people have a great experience.

The Apartments were excellent, very clean and well furnished and a fabulous size, set around a beautiful pool area

it is only a short stroll to the centre of port Douglas, we would definitely book here again it was perfect
The house is big and has what you need - except internet. Location is at the entrance to Port Douglas, the house backs onto the main highway although couldn't be heard from the front of the house.
Kids enjoyed the pool.
Ability to check in early and leave later than the check out time was very much appreciated as it allowed us to relax from the beginning of our stay. Location of the apartments in the center of Port Douglas is awesome
Ken and Colin were both friendly and helpful, providing useful information on what to do in Port Douglas and making the stay easy. Close to town and easy to wander around. Good room with everything that we needed.
Very well appointed and comfortable unit in a convenient location close to the centre of Port Douglas. The manager of Tropical Apartments was very obliging and helpful making for a very comfortable stay.
