FAQs about hotels in Fès

Exotic Arabic Maze

Fès is a kaleidoscope of colours, smells and sensations, and its intricate urban design is an allegory of its own identity. Live up to the pace of this ancient Babel, and go the whole hog immerging yourself into its 1001 Nights atmosphere. Check out the Booking.com hotel deals in fascinating Fès and enjoy!

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.

The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.

The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!

I lived in Fes for five years, so I will be biased.

I lived in Fes for five years, so I will be biased. I love this city and it has a special place in my heart. I learned Arabic here over 20 years ago, I came back some years later and worked as an English teacher and Arabic to English translator, and my recent visit was a visit for the peace of my soul. If you are going to visit with a family, I would recommend an apartment in the new city (la Ville Nouvelle), especially the two that I stayed in. The old city (the Medina) is not easy to navigate with a stroller and the facilities in the riyads there are not family friendly (unless you are willing to pay top dollar), to say the least. Staying in the Medina means roughing it, so if you're young and single, or a young couple with no children, maybe you can hack it. For food, I highly recommend Jawhara Cafe next to the American Language Centre (Rue Ahmed Hiba) for breakfast (great harsha, malawi, coffee, tea etc.) and Restaurant Florence on Rue Hassan II for lunch or dinner; they make amazing couscous, tagine, and every great Moroccan dish at great prices.

What an amazing city - filled all the senses .. such warm hospitality, amazing food and history abounds - the artisans and craftsmanship of the local people was astounding - I loved every minute during my stay from the getting lost in the Medina's alley's to exploring the historic city - My tour guide Hassan was magnificent - so spoiled by all his knowledge and ability to read his customers.... We so enjoyed all his recommendations and more importantly - all the knowledge he shared with us - Please make sure you allocate enough time in this beautiful city and enjoy the hidden Roads and their restaurants! The food and spices are simply amazing!

Fez is good just for a day and it’s good to go to chefchouien from there for a day trip. Be careful of the people who take you to the tanneries and local outlets where they overcharge for stuff. The Medina has lots of shops having cheaper stuff of similar quality so better to check in different places before buying. Food is very good everywhere. Taxis are cheap. Place is very safe.

just dont. Morocco has a lot more good cities to spent time. If you really want to see then 1 day would be plenty but for me even this duration might be too long. In this city you always need to be on your toes or else you are an easy target for people who wants to just squeze money out of you

The Medina and its surrounds are very charming to look at...

The Medina and its surrounds are very charming to look at from a rooftop, however to be quite honest, spending time walking endlessly in the narrow and enclosed space felt quite oppressive. We weren’t interested in buying anything and it was a bit of an assault to see the endless offerings of basically the same things. The merchants looked resigned to their fate and the energy of the place just didn’t feel great. Kind of depressing.

We loved our stay in Morocco and this Riad in Fez is a gorgeous and comfortable place to stay. The staff here was so very kind. I came down with a bad cold during our stay and they brought our food to the room and took wonderful care of us. They organized a trip and always met us to help get us through the winding Medina. The meals were absolutely delicious and well priced. We stayed in the Imperial suite and the bed was very comfortable and the room was large and gorgeous. You will be very happy if you stay at this Riad.

Fantastic Riad and the best we've stayed in in all of Morocco (including a different Riad in Fes, which is curiously higher rated and more expensive on this website). Impeccable and very spacious rooms (including the highest ceilings you'll ever see in a room) that make you feel like you're in an ancient palace - which you are. Outstanding breakfast and service, including perfectly brewed coffee and fresh pressed orange juice. Great location in the middle of the medina but easy to reach from the parking lot.

Beautiful place, like from a fairy tale, with a roof top terrace overlooking the heart of medina. Friendly, professional people ready to provide advice and assistance. Mr. Rafael, the owner, makes sure that you are treated with a nice attention and he gives insightful advice on travelling in Morocco. Heavenly cuisine and rich breakfast prepared by Mrs. Fatima. Big thanks to Abdul who has assisted throughout the whole stay, arranged trips or hammam. I would like to stay again when next time in Fes.

We had an incredible stay at Riad Soultana! The location is perfect – nestled in a safe area of the Medina. The terrace is a hidden gem with breathtaking views. Our room was a dream – spacious, beautifully decorated, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was also nice. Special shoutout to Aziza – the star of our stay! We had a wonderful stay here. The riad is beautiful, in a calm street right next to the road, so it is quiet but easily accessible by taxi and a short walking distance from all the attractions in the medina. The breakfast was very good. Mohsim was the perfect host. He made us feel very welcome and helped us with everything we needed. The tours he arranged for us were great and the mint tea he served us was the best we had during our stay in Morocco.

The staff were really helpful with everything we needed in out first stay at Fès. They were open, patient and had great solutions every time. Food was delicious and yes you NEED a guide when you are in Fès if it is your first time. The Medina is huge and complicated to navigate compared to other places in Morocco, but it is such a great experience. Once in the hotel there is no noise, it's like a little oasis with its old architecture. Really cool.

Very helpful staff. Excellent location and the rooftop view is breathtaking. Not so many of them in Fes, Medina, so it's worth any extra penny to pay for it. The best thing is, that if you travel through Morocco in winter, they provide heaters or air-conditioned rooms. Quite crucial for usually cold nights in here. We will definitely be back....
