A Charming Crossroads of Civilisations
Situated on the west part of Crete, the city of Chania is the second largest in this beautiful Greek island. Featuring rich history, breathtaking architecture and pristine beaches, Chania will take you to a fascinating journey through time.
Get your camera and wander around the narrow alleys of the old town or walk on the romantic promenade area of the old harbour with the iconic lighthouse. Set on a small hill, the central part of the town is called Kastelli and is populated since the Neolithic period.
A crossroads of civilisations, the city of Chania offers a harmonic combination of Venetian, Turkish and traditional Greek architecture. Do not miss the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Church of Chania, the Mosque of the Janissaries and the Venetian Fortification Walls.

The old town and harbour area are both beautiful and very interesting. There are lots of tiny streets with unusual different shops, museums and plenty of Minoan relics, all easy to see. Also some excellent tavernas and coffee shops.

I was in Chania for 4 days and it wasn’t enough for me.
I was in Chania for 4 days and it wasn’t enough for me. I’d recommend At least 5. The medieval town is breathtaking, you can walk through time travel on cobblestone streets that narrow and get a half liter of wine for 5 euros each and have dinner made my locals family for 5 euro. I ate a gourmet dinner on the boardwalk with a carafe of wine dinner for 2 only 65 euros and it was the most amazing food I have ate in my life. I highly recommend.

Stunning place, wonderful people and delicious food.
Stunning place, wonderful people and delicious food. Nea Chora beach is fantastic and there are many restaurants and cafés to choose from. I love to go before and after the high season. Easy to rent a car and drive around, the driving experience was fantastic, good roads and signals. People drive sensibly and there is free parking all over the island with no tolls at all.

The old town is lovely full of independent stores selling leather goods, clothes etc. Eat at one of the restaurants overlooking the port and lighthouse for fantastic views. Loved the backdrop of the snow covered mountains while basking in the 26 degrees sun despite it still being March.

We loved the Venetian port and the Old Town.
We loved the Venetian port and the Old Town. One of our favourite places was a restaurant called Paradisiaco in the upper part of the port on Theotokopoulou Street. It is a very interesting neighbourhood. A beautiful art shop with a friendly owner is in the same area. Another good restaurant is Maridaki in Maridaki Steet.

Its a quiet, mountainside/seaside town with amazing food.
Its a quiet, mountainside/seaside town with amazing food. I dont think I had one bad meal there. The beaches are amazing and the water is a crystal clear green/blue. I'm sure there are lots of activities and things to do involving hiking and snorkeling. If you're looking for lots of shopping from big retail, I dont think this is the place for you. A lot of the shops are local businesses.
We had an excellent stay at Monte Vardia. The hotel is located on the main road leading from the airport to Chania so it was conveniently located for us as we explored the area. Parking is readily available. The hotel was clean, good value for money, nice breakfast and a wonderful pool. Above all the staff were wonderful. The two ladies running the hotel were always incredibly helpful, gave us wonderful tips to explore Crete and even remembered our breakfast orders daily. We had a lovely stay here and would definitely recommend it.
Great location in central Chania just outside of the old town but easy short 5 min walk to everything you'd want to see and explore. Staff was amazing and helped recommend beaches and thing to do and see while in Chania and Crete. Rooms were large and quiet with everything we needed in making our stay perfect. Parking was on-site which was perfect also not having to find parking. Highly recommend this location and would stay again!
Excellent location, great and super comfortable room. One of the best stay in Crete. Delicious home made breakfast and the owners were both amazing! Warm, helpful and provided us with great tips to get the best out of our stay. Highly recommended!
If you need a parking mention it in your reservation, the hotel can easily arrange a spot in the private parking just in front. Really convenient!
We really had a great time at the Royal Sun and were sad to leave. We loved the view during the fantastic breakfast (best breakfast during our whole Crete vacation) and the pool time. We also enjoyed the shuttle service into the town. The staff was very friendly and helped whenever we had a question or request. We definitely recommend the hotel and will stay there next time when in Crete.
Amazing service, the lady at the front made the stay the best stay possible. Always checking in with us and even giving us food and drinks every day. The very best service you could ever imagine. The location of the hotel is in the centre of town and can’t get beaten. Wouldn’t pick anywhere else to stay in Crete. Clearly the place to go! 10/10 every single time.
Excellent hotel. Had everything I was looking for during my stay in Crete. Heated pool, next to beach, parking spot, Gym, locker for suitcases , provided a baby crib, converted couch to bed, and even loaned us a baby carriage for the whole duration of our stay. Exceptional ! Hotel is strategically situated close to main roads for traveling with car
The hosts! The Klinakis Hotel is run by the Klinakis family and we felt every bit of the Creten hospitality. Rafaela Klinaki, our host, received us upon our arrival, coordinated everything from taxi pick up to and from the airport, car rental, to COVID Testing for our return. Teodoro received us each morning with a phenomenal breakfast experience 😋❤!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Off! The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was the best we had at any of the hotels we stayed at in Greece. The location was very conveniently located in old town. I would definitely stay here again!
the best hotel weve been to in Crete. rooms enourmous, everything is rather new. it was raining for the half of the day during our staying, so we rented private jacuzzi with hammam for two hours (price was 15eur per person per hour, so only 60eur in total for entirely private spa time). highly recommend this hotel!
My stay was amazing. The view from the room patio was awesome. The attached restaurant Theodosi was great. Do yourself a favor and include breakfast with your booking. I arrived early and the staff very graciously accommodated me. Hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood on top of a hill overlooking the Sea of Crete.
Best place to stay in Chania. It is always my first stop in Crete before i go travelling. I stayed here many times even before renovation (when it was Argo beach hotel) now rooms and restaurant are renovated, tidy and fresh. Great location, a little bit more quiet than in main port and this view from balcony...
This property has made the list of my top 3 best stays I have experienced in my 40 years of traveling the world. Perfect location, clean, chic, and 5 stars. I will be returning every summer and telling all my friends and family who visit the island of Crete to ONLY stay at Amphitrite Hotel!
Everything, loved the location, more residential but 2 minutes from the beach, bus stop and amazing local restaurant on the corner, 5 minutes to local tavernas bypassing what must be the best bakery in Crete, dare I say, Greece!, 15 minutes to the old town. Lovely pool.
The property is a family owned boutique hotel. Beautifully maintained in the old town of Chania, Crete.
The Manager, Visalis was more than helpful with advise on what to do in the area.
I would highly recommend this hotel, Carol Power
Lovely boutique hotel in fantastic location. Right beside old town and ten minute walk from a beautiful little beach. Book the 3rd floor room with large private terrace - it’s amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Olga.
Stylish and sleek hotel within a walking distance from restaurants and the old town. Our room was comfortable, clean and had a spectacular view of the sea. The staff were warm, friendly and provided great tips for going around Crete.
I felt better here than in a 4 star hotel. I am glad that we chose the apartment at Meryland. Maria was the best!!! I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend their holidays in Crete!!
