Hotels near Ueno

Awesome location! Right in the heart of Shinjuku! I highly recommend if you are a solo traveller looking to be in the heart of Tokyo but also someone who wants a decent bed!

We are so glad we chose to stay in Sumiday city and picked this hotel. It was our first time in Japan and being here gave us the best experience possible. Our room was on the 11th floor. It was self-check in and out, very smooth and advanced (as expected). We had a lovely view of the city. It was facing the Ryogoku Train station which is just behind the hotel. You can easily reach the top districts of Tokyo (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akihabara etc). It was compact but very well-designed. The room looks exactly like the photo and as described. We had four luggages. We were able to store them under our beds. There is no shelf but you can take out a fee outfits and hang them instead. They provided good quality toiletries, hot drink supply, yukatas and a cotton and a leather slippers. Japan toilets are fun! There is a fridge and kettle in the room. There is a Lawson convenience store on the 2nd floor. We bought most of our meals from there and we ate at the cafe/ eating area which was on the same level. I saw a few comments here about the microwave in the basement. If you bought food from Lawson, you can also use the microwave in their shop. There is a coin laundry area in the basement where the spa is also located. There are a few cafes and restaurants near the train station so you have a lot of options to choose from. Don’t forget to visit 31st floor to get the best view and the park behind the hotel. You need to request cleaning as standard. If you opted not to, they will leave some supplies on your door like fresh towels, coffee, etc. They also offered some free facial toiletries in the lobby. Make sure to grab some! Look out for the friendly Sumo wrestlers on your way to the station.

The staff are friendly and helpful and assisted with check in. The location is fantastic with excellent access to train stations, the national garden and Golden Gai. The onsen was simple but clean, and relaxing after busy days wandering the city.

Great location, next to Shinbashi Train Station. Walking distance to Ginza. Great staff and customer care.

Nice and clean, beds were great, same with the bathroom. Room was big enough.
