The accessable room was only adequate. The wheelchair blocked essential space. The bathroom was large and although the bath was fairly easy. It woud have been difficult for less mobile guests to use the shower

We had special service froma deputy manager called Sharon She went out of her way to be helpful at breakfast, Again above and beyond, as we had car trouble on leaving. We are very grateful

The room could have done with some curtains - there was a light from the walkway shining right into our room which the blinds didn't help with much. Would have loved a few more vegetarian options at breakfast, veggie sausage or some spinach maybe?

Very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Everything was clean, comfy and nice and quiet, even with a wedding going on. Good location. The room had everything we needed and wasn't as outdated as we thought. Good size too.

The bed (mattress) needs to be upgraded. It's a spring mattress not very comfortable you can hear the springs popping when turning around on the bed. The room also needs to have a small fridge.

The room was set up well and standard things required in a room were all there. Quiet location and very lovely place and relaxing to sit outside and take a walk.

I thought the price was a bit expensive as I had been to another local hotel and it was far superior and cheaper.

The staff were excellent, cleanliness very good. Slept very well in the comfortable bed. Evening meal very nice, breakfast ok. However the hotel bedroom was looking slightly tired and the furniture needs upgrading. Overall good stay.

The shower was fine but had to mix the clod and hot taps to the right temp before jumping in - it was okay once on :-)

The room was very 'old worldy' and little dated but large and very comfortable. I had a family room high up in the rafters of the hotel but apart from the slightly narrow stairs iot was warm, comfortable and clean. The staff were AMAZING!! So friendly, helpful and patient. They were a credit to the hotel and made our stay very enjoyable. The lady at reception (I wish I had taken her name) was so lovely and friendly (I told her my name was George Clooney) and we had a good laugh while she was checking me in.

Signposting Was difficult to follow. Normally ok but we was in a rush making it tricky to find out room and around hotel. Need double glazing so noisy outside didn't sleep well

I found it difficult at times to find my room. It was easier to find reception as the signage seemed easier to follow going from the room than finding the room each time.

The room was good. It was clean and well decorated. The breakfast and evening meal were fine. The staff were helpful and efficient.

We said this last time, the rooms are tired. The toilet seat was loose, the sink cracked. It needs investment and careful modernisation, or at least a plan to improve. The rooms are the same as our last visit. This time room 248, the floors are paper thin and we could hear " everything" that went on above us. Comparative to other hotels, in my opinion it is no longer competitive. We stayed in three hotels on this visit to see family, a Premier Inn, a Travelodge and the GPH and the GPH was the most expensive.

The staff are exceptional, a warm welcome on arrival and great polite attentive but not intrusive service throughout our stay of two nights. The setting is wonderful, the building looks spectacular from outside.

Some of the decor is starting to look very tired. Our room had a lot of dust behind the blind. The room and parts of the building were very warm. There was a noisy extractor fan somewhere on the flat roof near our room.

All the staff we met were very friendly, efficient and helpful. There is a good breakfast choice. We had one evening meal in the restaurant and it was good. There is a good choice of draught beers at the bar. It's ideal for attending an event at Oakwell Hall.

Fruit at breakfast was disappointing - missed grapefruit, prunes & sliced melon etc. Only chunks of watermelon with some cut up pear and few strawberries

Really good sausages and bacon. Dinner was good too - nice, airy, clean and bright restaurant with friendly pleasant staff. Used the free pool and sauna - lovely and clean and seemed spanking new.

Expect it to be dated but it's not really a problem. (Actually keys to put in locks to turn and open bedrooms!) No desk to work at in the suites.
