How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The bed was a little bit too firm for me and the room wasn't dark enough. But otherwise it was a lovely experience and I will definitely go back!
Amazing location right next to the railway station and in the city centre. Very lovely, kind staff. The room was big enough and very clean!

One night, the fire alarm went off - which is ofc positive as it happened bc someone apparently tried to smoke a cigarette at 2 am, but there should be some warning/advice upon arrival that the alarm is rather unusual - it gives the distinctive feeling that your phone has gone mad and no matter what you do, it just won't stop - my colleague had exactly the same reaction to it.
The staff at breakfast were the best!!! The food was nice too, but the people were just so nice although one of them was working on his birthday.

Could have done with a bit more variety for breakfast. Identical for all 3 days. Mushrooms ? Black pudding ? (for example).
Staff were very friendly. Location perfect for the station. Bed good. Room quite small but perfectly ok for the price.

Bathroom was quite small. And there was storage space to keep your belongings. Had to keep moving the suitcases all the time.
Excellent location & very good staff. Very good housekeeping. WiFi was excellent as well.

The vast majority of things were perfect, but the sealed windows, which require excess use of air conditioning ( disrupting sleep) pose a small problem... I don't think one can solve that immediately...!

The sink was cracked and stained, it didn't drain I think it was blocked, it was expensive £130 for one night and an alarm went off at 6.30 with no explanation and no one to be seen.
Staff was lovely and convenient from the station. The gentleman was very helpful and allowed us to drop off the bags early. The room was comfy, and overall good.

Our room was in the basement and had no window to open so it was hard to breath inside, especially after you took shower.

There was a low generator noise that made it difficult to fall asleep. The noise of people walking up and down the corridors at night was distracting and some soundproofing would be advisable.
The location was excellent. The room and bed were comfortable. The breakfast was of a low standard but acceptable.

Although I liked the minimalist room (no wardrobe, just hanging space), the primary colours were a bit jarring. The main reason for not giving a five-star review was the noise at night from other guests, shouting in the corridor and banging on my door. The first night (Thursday) was fine, but Friday and Saturday were really rowdy between 1am and 3am. I reported this on Saturday morning, and there was a suggestion to move me to another room, but by the evening the staff had no idea and said 'same room.' Again, there was lots of noise. I mentioned it on checking out Sundsy morning but the staff member didn't say anything.
Very convenient for Cardiff Central Station, and the immediate area is greatly improved since my last visit, with pedestrian concourse and shops, while still being at the junction of the main street for pubs and restaurants.
