The rooms were a bit on the tired side, the mattress was well past the point of needing replacing, and the window shutters were useless at keeping the morning light out.

The food in the restaurant was exceptional, the staff in the hotel were fantastic, very friendly and extremely helpful. The spa was very good, great facilities and incredibly relaxing.

Although the room was clean some attention to detail is required in maintenance checks. More attention could of been spent in the hotel general leisure facilities. Looks as though priority has been diverted to the spa which is only accessed free to residents if you book the top rooms or suites which is a shame as we had a view of the outside spa area.

The food was delicious, great breakfast as well plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful when approached. The weekend was very busy. Prices for dinner were in line with other hotels around the area. The location was great, very scenic with an off road route to Lakeside where you can get a ferry to different parts of the lake.

The room wasn't very clean, bathroom was clean, there was all dust under the bed, part of the material was hanging of ! Be weary if you take your dog, on check out we were charge a supplement of £15 per night for our dog, we had already paid extra for our dog then we this charge on checkout!! Wasn't happy as we had already paid £380 !

No working air conditioning which was a problem at the time with 26C weather, blinds were broke but fixed by staff, small amounts of mold in the room

Comfortable, amazing staff, breakfast was perfect, dinner in the brasserie was the best food i'd ever had i highly recommend the haddock risotto, location is incredible as expected, so many nearby walks with incredible scenery, make sure to visit the lakeside aquarium, spa is amazing and relaxing

A few minor pieces of maintenance such as sink plugs not operating correctly and shower grout needs good scrub. Bath too high to get into shower for smaller people.

The staff in the restaurant at night and for breakfast was very poor. We waited at the bar for around 10 mins with staff walking backwards and forwards and not acknowledging us. We ended up sitting down and going back to bar to try order drinks and then sat and waited and waited again for someone to take our order. Breakfast again was pretty much the same. The staff didn’t acknowledge us when we entered the restaurant. We sat down and just waited and didn’t know what to do to order food. Everyone was in the same situation. Walking in and wondering what to do. The staff was just wiping tables ignoring us. We again had to ask what we do about ordering breakfast and getting tea and coffee. It was as thought their was no management team around, plenty of staff just no body doing anything. When we arrived for breakfast around 9am. I thought it was finishing up. Their was no juice available. Hardly any cheese, meats and yoghurts. It was really quite poor.

Only criticism was the restaurant was very expensive. The food was really good but the price was extortionate, as well as drinks! On top of paying for the stay and spa separate it turns out to be an expensive stay.

Really lovely stay, great facilities! The holte spa was amazing. Breakfast was great, and staff brilliant. Location is fab and views were really good. Would definitely be back!

The room was lovely but I could see it was a little rough around the edges, nothing a lick of paint wouldn't fix and replace the window frame in room 16. The view made up for these minor issues.

The access to the pool areas. We were told that the outdoor pool & jacuzzi wasn’t included in the room price which I don’t feel was made very clear when booking. Therefore was disappointed not to have access to it.

Wait times on drinks/food

The Splendid room we booked was comfortable & clean, and had a nice view overlooking the river. Spa facilities (which were included in the price) were lovely! We enjoyed the food in the hotel pub & thought it was reasonably priced.

The hotel wasn't anything special. The room that I stayed in was not worth the price I paid. It was very basic. The swimming pool does not stay open till late. The breakfast wasn't great, the full English breakfast that hubby and I had wasn't enough. I felt as if everything was limited . I wouldn't stay at this hotel again !

The location was fantastic and peaceful. Windermere was only about 20 minutes away from the hotel, and the drive to it was beautiful.
