I chose Atami as one of the relaxing spots on my busy travel route and Korakuen's offer of Ocean Spa Fuua was what attracted me to this hotel. On the spot is came out that the facility had so much to offer that I could have spent my entire Atami stay inside its premises. The Ocean Spa Fuua was a great joy with its diverse baths and the chill zone - well designed, beautiful and immaculately maintained. I appreciated the amenities in the room and the spa itself, hotel dress included. The shops were an unexpectedly nice addition. The buffet dinner and breakfast was more than I expected, with abundant choice of good quality foods. As I arrived late afternoon I had this dilemma where to spend my evening - in the Fuua spa or at a dinner table ;-) Hotel's location, with a shuttle from/to railway station, just at the foot of the ropeway hill and next to the quaint fishing port, was just perfect. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay at Korakuen and it would be my pick if ever my route brings me to Atami again. There is so much to explore about Korakuen :-)

Very practical and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but everything you'd need. The shower was exceptionally good. There was no kettle to boil water, but we could borrow one at no charge when we asked.

Booked a one night stay as a stop gap and loved it.
Booked a one night stay as a stop gap and loved it. Thankfully arrived early enough to dump our bags and head to the beach for the afternoon, not too crowded on a Saturday (May) and had a lovely swim, fish but not great visibility and some rubbish but had worse.
Had a great seafood dinner, live abalone and buzzing street life.
Stayed at Minori villa which was lovely, amazing view but bit of a climb. The shrine with the big tree was the best temple experience both 9pm in deadly silence and with the crowds the next day.

It's a beautiful town/city, not very many foreign tourists (that I saw). It's a great place to wind down and relax on a beach on one side and nature on the other. I don't like hot springs but I heard that they are also very nice there.

The location at the ocean side, with stunning views from Atami hills, the little fishing port and its numerous eateries with freshest possible ingredients, busy shopping avenue at the train station, historic Kiunkaku Villa and garden, serving as the town's cultural centre, where I spent hours strolling and talking to various artists and artisans exhibiting their work, charming ladies at the villa's cafe, and the gem - MOA museum, what a great find! All this makes me long to come to Atami yet again during my next trip to Japan :-)

I didn't technically stayed in Atami city center, but a small town called Ajiro which is only two stations away from Atami, and our ryokan is 4 minutes walk from the station. It's a serene place with perfect combination of sea view and hot spring. The town is small, but it has quite some awesome restaurants ran by local people. I would recommend Satsuki Sushi and Shogyo Seafood Restaurant, premium quality food with very affordable price.
Ajiro is definitely an underrated town. Since the town center is both close to the JR train station and the seaside, it's a good place to stay and easy to travel between the izu towns by JR.

The hotel is beautiful.
The hotel is beautiful. Room is spacious and has amazing views. Hotel staff are attentive and helpful. Onsen was old but facilities are working fine. Location is near Atami attractions.
I wasn't aware that I have to make reservation for dinner even though the booking made was half board. Upon check in, I was told that I will only have Western dinner for my whole stay. I knew the hotel has a French restaurant but I didn't know that I have to state my choice of dinner in advance. Western dinner was ok, service at the French restaurant was excellent but the food quantity is too little (even for a small eater). On the second day, I requested for Japanese dinner but was told that Japanese restaurant was fully booked. After speaking with 6 different staff, the Japanese restaurant agreed to accommodate 2 more diners for one night but we had to eat our dinner at 5pm. My advice - please make reservation for dinner in advance. They have French and Japanese food to choose from.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and made me feel right at home.
The room facilities were excellent, and the large windows allowed me to enjoy the beautiful sea views. The hotel also had a hot spring, which provided complete relaxation for my tired body and mind.
Overall, the hotel's service, amenities, and scenery were impeccable. I had a wonderful vacation here, and I will definitely choose this hotel again without hesitation on my next visit to Atami!
Property location 6min left of Atami Station. Uphill about 20m walk so not too bad. Very home feeling and the host lady is very friendly. We used google translate to communicate and it worked. Room is clean. I booked the family room with its own bathroom and shower/bathtub so very good for the price . Highly recommend taking free shuttle bus from train station to visit Fuua the Occen view onsen. I had great time there.
The host was absolutely incredible! She was so kind and had a private onsen ready for us upon our arrival! The room was spacious and overlooked atami, it was so beautiful! The bathroom was clean and tidy, and we met some lovely people in the reception and living space! We were only there for one night, but wish we had stayed more! Already planning a time to come back🌸
An incredible place to stay in, especially for this price!
A great view, a nice room, a little private onsen that you can book, Japanese (or western) breakfast... And more importantly, great hosts, and a great hospitality!
They can speak English fluently so if your japanese isn't quite there yet, you'll still be fine.
I'll definitely come back here again.
This hotel is close to the Atami train station. Walking distance 3-4 mins. Provides PJ"s and toiletries. Laundry servive was handy. Breakfast small but okay. Includes one half size roll plus coffee or tea and a sweet. We caught a local bus near the station to Atami Castle. The town is very hilly and too hard to walk to the waterfront.
As the free shuttle starts at 2pm, we walk about 15-20mins and find our way to the hotel.
Room was OK, and dinner and breakfast was well arrange with time slot. Good for those who love to drink during dinner.
Can see fire works around 8pm outside the hotel. Onsen was a plus point for me. Re;lax and enjoy.
This place is amazing and beautiful. It is maintained very maticuously. The style is tradition Japanese and it is simply beautuful. We had an issue with the hot water that was resolved immediately and the staff was very helpful and responsive to tgat one issue. The private bath was also amazing.
This is a great Ryoken to celebrate Japanese tradition! Onsen experience is authentic and breakfast is warm and homely. Given the friendliness of staffs and the attentiveness of support to customers for a rainy day is very well appreciated!
This place is amazing with a beautiful view over the sea and you are always welcomed with friendly staff. Great option to enjoy Atami Beach without staying in mass tourism hotel. 123 Music have so much more charm and soul!
Room was big, biggest we ever stayed in Japan and it's traditional Japanese style room. Clean, comfy, staff was nice. Near bus stop and walking distance to the beach, and Kinomiya shrine.
Breathtaking views, beautiful and elegant facility (stayed in Horizon Wing) and outdoor onsen right above the sea.
Kaiseki dinner was served by courses.
Big room with ocean view.
The property was exceptional, even for the very high standards which are customary in Japan.
It was also exceptionally good value with a quality first class dinner and breakfast
The kaiseki-style dinner and seasonal breakfast were incredible. Our attendant, Runa, was charming and attentive. The private outdoor and indoor onsen exceeded my expectations!
