We had come for invasive heart surgery for my husband at Medland hospital. We were extremely impressed with the standards of the surgeon and after care. We booked a BnB in Lusaka as our family live out on farms. It was lovely, safe, quiet, clean, wel staffed. I would recommend it to any traveller. On the whole, having travelled to Zambia to see our family in the past ten years we were impressed with how much improved the city is. The roads are so much better and easier to cope with traffic volumes. EXCEPT for roads leading out of Lusaka ie the Great North Road is dreadful once you get past the double lanes. Delighted to see hardly any litter. Well done Lusaka. You are looking fabulous.

It's an interesting city with some old and new neighborhoods, good night life, an overcrowded market and bus station and a few historic buildings. A bit dirty in some streets and the market. A few beautiful churches and tall buildings. The cultural village and the museum are ok. Never walked outside in the evenings. I was advised to take a taxi, but daytime I felt zero danger. Public transport in the city is not clear for travelers, so either walk or take a Yango. You can take buses to go to other destinations like Livingstone, Luangwa or Mfuwe from the main bus station and fly into other regional and international cities from the airport.
Not a major tourist destination, but good for a few days as a central city in Zambia.

Lusaka is an interesting city.
Lusaka is an interesting city. It has most of the basic stuff that anyone would desire. It's a slow city though. Albeit literally speaking (Lusaka traffic will humble you😅) and economically.
Most establishments close by 8 pm. Except bars and liquor stores. Lusaka's night life is only dependent on alcohol and club life. If you are looking for a romantic night out, Lusaka is not for you. At least for now.😂
The city is generally safe. However, it's good to be on the look out as petty thefts just like anywhere else are common.
It's averagely clean with more dirt-roads. The road network has lots of room for improvement. The people are generally kind but language challenges will be your first hit. Even though English is prevalently spoken, people will first address you in Nyanja or Bemba.
The days here are usually super slow too. Banks open at 9 am and most close by 3 pm. If you are looking for food in Lusaka in the early mornings, you may not be very lucky as most places only open at 10 am.
If you are looking for Zambian cuisines, always ask to be taken to a "Matebeto". You will never be disappointed.
It's generally easy to get around Lusaka. However, the mini-buses(public transport buses) are not well labelled. If you don't know exactly where you are going, it's better to use Yango(a taxi-hailing app). There's no Uber here. But if you already have Bolt app, you should be fine.
Great activities you can do is hiking on the outskirts of Lusaka, game rides, museum visits, and especially a visit to the Village in the middle of the city if you like shopping for African memorabilia. Most people here however, prefer hanging out in malls. The most diverse malls are East Park mall, and Manda Hill Mall.

I liked the continental break fast , other food stuffs are too expensive.
I never hard dinner or lunch only breakfast and a beer though the bar is not properly set up. The bar should be separated from the Bar music is the ingredient of the bar and the bar should close a bit later than the restaurant.
this is my observation of the centre lodge that must be improved.

Nice city with laid back people, who are often willing to help.
It is not crowded and one can easily walk in the city without any danger of an accident!
Nshimo (maize flour meal) and chicken stew was my favorite meal!
East Park Mall beams with life... oh, Gran Daddy's is a rocker I am told though I did not stay long enough to see it fill up (happens in the evenings)

Beautiful city in Zambia with lovely friendly people.
Beautiful city in Zambia with lovely friendly people. They have lovely shopping malls as well as a cheap market in the kamwala district. Kabwata cultural centre in Lusaka sells some of their traditional clothes and souvenirs. There are also National Parks where you can go on safari and see various animals, the 'Big 5'. Definitely worth a visit.
Myself and my son Chace were treated extremely well by all the staff at the hotel. The stand out people who made our stay memorable and enjoyable were Patience, Molly, Catherine and the guy who opens the front doors (not sure of his name). These people were extremely kind to my son and he wanted to make sure that they had a mention. We also liked the breakfast, we felt that the options were good and there was plenty to choose from. Also the swimming pool area was great, where we enjoyed many a relaxing afternoon.
The reception area is user friendly, staff are extremely friendly at reception, @Joyce thanks a lot with that beautiful welcoming smile and service.
I was amazed by the care and curtecy of Rosemary, the Service Manager on my first day, volunteering to arrange and pay for my transport that will show me around and go eat Zambian food. @Rose, you are a star....go beyond....
The swimming pool is unequely designed for comfort and great swimming to cool up in the hot Zambian weather. The reasaurant food is good too.
The hotel has modern finishings, spacious bedrooms and bathroom.its quite even though on the road, secure. As for staff I enjoyed their hospitality from check in point, service is fast including the general manager she’s always available to meet and greet her clients.im surely coming back in a few and The Quarum will be my home during my stay in Lusaka.keep it up.
I was deeply impressed when the hotel manager came to my room to see how to address the issues I raised on booking.com.
Shortly after the manager visited my room the falty TV was replaced.
Out of all the hotels in Lusaka that I stayed in. This one has the least mosquitoes which is very important because of the malaria most days there was not a single mosquito.
This hotel was clean and comfortable. We ordered food when we arrived, which was 9 PM. They were willing to accommodate us. Although the food a while to prepare, it was not disappointing when when it arrived. It was nice of them to keep our baggage after check-out as we went site-seeing around Lusaka.
The property was clean and comfortable. We wanted to stay in an area that wasn’t like a luxury hotel, upper class neighbourhood. Bigpic provided an authentic experience eg the road in was dreadful- 4 by 4 quality. Of course that also meant it was much cheaper than the big hotels which also suited us.
Breakfast options were pretty great considering we are vegetarians from India. If you spend a few minutes extra to find your way around the dishes, you can map as to how best you can have your meal. And for the 4 days we stayed, we are full and it was very helpful for our meetings across the town.
Great breakfast which doesn't miss anything. Big room with enough space and comfortable bed, and great location across the East Park mall and in opposite to hotels downtown, fresh air and green nature. Very good Wifi, very kind and professional staff, willing to support you always.
The decor is very beautiful, with art displayed everywhere and unique furniture pieces here and there. The staff was extremely helpful, making our stay very easy. They were all so kind, which I learned is a typical Zambian trait. Food was nice, rooms were heavenly.
The hotel is located smack in the middle of town with shops and restaurants nearby. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was super comfortable. The buffet breakfast was rich and tasty and I will most certainly stay here if I visit Lusaka in the future.
Great location if you intend to do business in downtown Lusaka, Otherwise a bit from the malls and places locals attend to.........Great value in front of the mall, Levy - can save money doing shopping there.
The staff were friendly and easy to talk to and they went out of their way to provide hit water with buckets for bathing. , location was fine as it was easy to access many places at a cheap rate.
It felt like an island in the chaos. It's well run. The pool was clean. Great breakfast facility. Storage. Food. Proximity to the mall. Best place in lusaka .
The staff was exceptional at the Southern Sun Ridgeway in Lusaka. They were attentive, problem solvers and went the extra mile to help me out during my stay.
Absolutely fantastic. It exceeded my expectations. Very spacious rooms. I have been to Radisson Blu Kigali, Capetown and Nairobi but Lusaka beats them all
