Didnt expect much, but we were really suprised (in a good way) of the hospitality and kindness of our Host. He cooked for us without hesitation, because we were too late to find something to eat for ourself. And the location is really nice with a waterfall insight.
This countryside property, in the Western Iceland town of Borgarfjördur, is next to the Hvítá Glacial River. It offers free Wi-Fi in the reception, as well as an on-site restaurant and bar.

Situated in a lovely valley. Room very nice with lovely seating area up in roof, (so long as you could duck, when going up the stairs.)
Very friendly & helpful staff. Had a beautifully cooked evening meal there, in the impressive restaurant / reception area.
Breakfast was pleasant.

Holt Villa is a truly luxurious home and had everything we could possibly need.
The decor was stylish yet comfortable and the layout worked really well for our group. Both bathrooms were fitted out like a luxury spa with high end toiletries provided and quality towels and high speed hairdryers.
The kitchen was beautiful and well thought out as a practical cooking space, there was a coffee machine with Nespresso style pods provided.
The location was ideal for a full day excursion around the Snaefellness Peninsula with whale watching from Olafsvik and there was also plenty to see and do nearby, including beautiful waterfalls of Barnafoss and Hraunfossar, the lava tube and glacier tour from Husafell, a scoria cone (small volcano) to climb at Grábrók by Bifrost and even the Krauma hot springs with geothermal baths and a lovely restaurant. Reykholt itself is a pretty village, perfect to walk around after dinner and to learn about its place in Icelandic history.
We had a wonderful time at Holt Villa, it was the perfect base to explore this part of Iceland and we cannot thank our hosts enough for providing such a beautiful property that made our holiday so relaxing and special.
Husafell is a really great city. We travelled around the entine Iceland and we could easilu have skipped a few nights on the road especiallly in the east just to have some few more nights in Husafell. From here you can reach many attractions in just minutes to an hour in the car, and the scenery around Husafell is just amazing.

Húsafell is a paradise for me!
Húsafell is a paradise for me! Set out in such a peaceful setting in Western Iceland, you cannot beat it. You might think that you are on you way to the middle of nowhere on your drive out, but that is also the beauty of it. Crisp clean mountain air, the quiet of the Icelandic countryside and the clearest water in streams that you have ever seen.
The numerous hiking trails around Húsafell will surely keep you occupied and fit while on your visit, because you will see so many amazing things while on each trail that you want to keep on going.
This is also a great place to go to just relax. My wife and I came out here right after our wedding to unwind and it was perfect! Both of us got the much needed rest that follows a destination wedding. The first night we relaxed at the Hotel Húsafell and enjoyed a wonderful dinner in their restaurant and then took a very relaxing walk in on the trails surrounding it afterwards. We also enjoyed the Bruaras Cafe in the GeoCenter for locally prepared and sourced fare. Try their Icelandic meatballs! You cannot just have one order of them!
Also in the area you have the tours of both the glacier and lava cave. These are some great guided activities you can arrange through your hotel. I also recommend going over to the Barnafoss falls in the area for some amazing waterfalls.
