Hotel Alba Palace, hotel in Florence

Located next to the cloisters of Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Basilica, Hotel Alba Palace is an elegantly renovated property with a peaceful courtyard.

Our room was big enough for myself and my husband. The ensuite was lovely, only minor problem was that the shower tended to flood the bathroom however as we were provided with a large number of twoels it was never a problem. The TV didn't have any English speaking channels again not a problem for us though it did have Netflix. Breakfast was suberb with a choice of any type of coffee you wanted, plentiful and kept permanently well stocked. The lady on breakfast duty was charming and always very helpful. The location was great as not too far from the train and tram stations and a 20 minute walk to most of the major attractions. There was a free cocktail (Happy Hour) on one of the evenings with nibbles and finger food.

Great that you can walk everywhere... every turn offers you something to look at......Despite buying tickets for Uffizi upfront, the queues were ridiculous. We thoroughly enjoyed Santa Croce, beautiful place, straight in and soo peaceful in all the hussle and bussle around... We were there early May and it was busy so can imagine it in the height of summer being extreme (not for us). Ate in a number of places, found Trattoria da Guido lovely!

Florence is a great place to visit, it has many museums and other historic/ art sites to see, it’s like walking back in time. It is easy to get around walking, except for the crowds. Definitely a place to visit during the offseason months Jan-March. It is suffering from overcrowding the rest of the time. They have turned most of the beautiful streets into flea markets. It’s weird how you can have luxury boutiques and cheap stalls almost next to each other. The food…it definitely has nice places worth a visit, but also a lot of overpriced tourist traps with mediocre quality. It is must to see the city’s main sites, but I would not come back just to enjoy the city.

    Very crowded at times.

Very crowded at times. Especially in the core historic districts. I enjoyed the early mornings and later evening walks for the large open spaces and empty streets. It’s an absolutely beautiful city with amazing architecture and history. Just remember to look up too. My favorite part on this trip was the early morning walk up to Piazza Michelangelo. Great view of the city. There are so many places to eat and I have never wanted to wait in line at those very popular sandwich places. There is so much good food everywhere it seems silly to waste the day waiting in a line.

the concept - it was really comfortable for a tent. The fact that you have air conditioning ( that works) during summer it’s a big plus - I ve stayed in hotels (in Italy) which did not have a working air conditioning even though it was stated. I loved the surroundings - the fact that you have a pool you can use during your stay. The restaurant was also ok. You have a supermarket which comes in pretty handy and also transportation to the city which is good given that the city center is 1h walk away.

Good transport links to Florence and Fiesole. In a very nice suburb but there is not much to explore. We have aperitivo near the hotel which was in a nice bakery. Very comfortable room and clean. Very good shower. Nice breakfast especially the pastries. Fine if you're going to go out everyday. Dinner was fine but a bit overpriced. €18 euro for a small primi, which is very different to the rest of Italy. Wine selection is nice, again expensive compared to everywhere else in Florence

Wow! What a Fantastic treasure is this place in the best location in Florence. Very clean, vary spacious, super quiet. Even though you are 2 min from Ponte Vecchio, you can not hear any sounds due to double glass windows. Great A/C in the bedrooms to cool down in hit summer days. I've never stayed in a hotel in Italy with such a spacious bathroom. Large bath towls. Top quality vanities. I like the hardwood floors as it keeps everything clean too.

The hotel's location was perfect for us to enjoy the city. Our room was small, but that was expected. I think paying a little extra to have a room with a view facing the church was worth it. All of the staff were kind. Breakfast was a bit pricier compared to what we paid at other places, but it was good. We visited three other cities after leaving Florence, and this hotel turned out to be the best and our favorite during our trip to Italy!

By far, this property was the best stay we’ve had during our 30-day Italy vacation. Our host, Andrea was very accommodating, made us feel at home right away. He gave us honest recommendations on places to go as well as restaurants (more for locals). His mom made daily breakfast with fresh pastries to die for. When in Florence, this is the place my husband and I will go back to stay in a heartbeat.

The hotel is located right across from the train station, which is why I chose it, as I was taking a train the next day to another destination in Italy. It was very convenient to store my luggage, spend the day in Florence, and then grab my luggage and catch my train. The room is small, which is to be expected in Europe, but comfortable.
