Zealandia and the Botanic gardens were great for an outdoor experience. Indoors, the tour of the Beehive and Parliamentary buildings was excellent, as was the Te Papa Museum. Some good restaurants around, but can take a while to find.

We experienced perfect weather from Thursday to Sunday in mid-May. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon, and we had a brief demonstration of horizontal rain (I can now say I experienced it :D). The rest of the time, we had a bright blue sky and crisp temperatures—perfect!
The city is lovely and very walkable. We went to the tourist information centre, and the person who helped us was lovely. The cable car is maybe a bit underwhelming (you only need to do it once to say that you have done it), but the botanic garden and its surroundings are worth the trip.
As a Melbournian, I wanted to see if Wellington's coffee is as good as Melbourne's. He listed some of the top coffee places and explained the difference between the types of coffee served at each location.
The locals are so friendly and helpful. People often stopped and helped us when we were staring out our phones to orient ourselves.
As vegans, finding good food and a few excellent, fully plant-based restaurants was very easy.

We stayed at the Apollo which was an easy walk into town.
We stayed at the Apollo which was an easy walk into town. Buses to areas out of the city seemed pretty regular. Wellington is a pretty switched on city, with a creative energy and plenty of things to enjoy. Cuba St which is pedestrians only has plenty of cafes and restaurants and the food is top notch. Our favourites for dinner were Loretta’s, Olive, Mr Go’s. Icecream and Creaming sodas at Duck Island, coffees at Pickle and Pie, Cheese Scones beautiful pastries and coffee at Myrtle’s. Some good clothing shops, also recycling shops where there was really good clothing for sale at low prices, good bookstores. A must visit is Te Papa Museum - Level 4 Māori and Pacific Island history is impressive. The museum’s shop is also worth checking out. The lobby of QT Hotel (there’s a golden hippo on the hotel’s exterior) - you don’t need to be a guest to wander in to view the lobby area which includes a magnificent private art collection and a ritzy bar. Plenty of bars with music and Sunday Farmers Market on the waterfront was bustling with plenty of fruit and vegetables along with brunch food and coffee available.

We stayed in a quirky hotel on Cuba St and suited the area it was situated in. Lots of funky boutiques and shops as well as great restaurants. Easy to walk around the city centre with heaps of interesting things to see and do.
The staff was extremely kind and accommodating. We loved our room because it was spacious, had a great view of the city and we were lucky enough to be on the top floor. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and had a spectacular meal. The staff was extremely attentive and helped with recommendations. The bathroom in our room was very clean and the water pressure was great, It was our honeymoon and the team even had a surprise desert plate waiting for us in our room and gave us a free upgrade! It was wonderful
We received a warm welcome at check-in and the process was handled efficiently. The room we had did not have a window but was very spacious, well appointed with a gorgeous bathroom and comfortable bed. We slept very well, probably helped by there being no window, and the supplies in the room for a morning cup of tea were perfect. The hotel is very conveniently located across the road from the airport bus and within walking distance of all of Wellingtons attractions. We would stay here again for sure!
Excellent facilities. All machines including dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer looked brand new and squeaky clean. The bed is super wide and comfortable. Tasty tea and cookies within the room.
Staff were very helpful with text message and direct phone call available. Parking map and detailed parking instructions were provided.
Central location in Wellington CBD, has supermarket and pharmacy downstairs. The cable car is also right next to the hotel.
An oasis in the city - a little away from the main CBD but central enough to walk or catch a cheap uber. Has a couple of eatng places handy. The reception desk was very helpful. Has car parking which is a bonus. This was a brilliant place to stay the apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My husband loved watching the trains, planes and ships coming and going. Can recommend.
The attention to detail was very apparent, from the fixtures to the artwork to the amenities provided. We were very impressed. Though there was no front desk, we found that it was not really needed as any questions were answered immediately via phone or email. Very clear instructions as to how to gain entrance to the hotel & the room. Wonderfully, comfy bed and great shower!
We are travelling around New Zealand in a campervan and booked 2 peas in a pod to have some luxury whilst visiting Wellington and it did not disappoint. This was a great stay where everything had been thought of. There was great communication with the host in the run up to our stay and there's also brilliant transport links into the CBD. Thoroughly recommend staying here!
I've read the reviews for this Hotel and they seem unfair. It is a budget Hotel in the middle of a busy city, fraction of the price of many other places. It is in an excellent location, it's clean and functional, reception wasn't complicated to find and the staff were friendly. Bed was comfortable etc - if you want a budget Hotel in the city this would be hard to beat
Previous hotel booking that we booked 3 months in advance cancelled on us, this was a last minute booking, they were able to accomodae us an were absolutely amazing 😁😁😉😊 definitely would go back again 😉😊🥰😍🤩 staff, everyone were just helpfull so great to see in our Capital city ❤❤❤💯💯💯
The rooms were neat and clean and the location of the apartments is quite central which is very convenient to access the city on foot. Our dog was allowed to stay with us which was very convenient. A stop-and-go stay over to catch the Cook Straight ferry which suited our needs.
The hotel has a pleasant reading and relaxing area and this area is adjacent to the bar which closes at 9pm. There is free street parking after hours and the hotel is within walking distance to the core of the city and restaurants etc. It is an old-charm venue.
Location was perfect right in city amongst restaurants. Staff amazing. Very clean. Bar and restaurant in hotel was awesome with great vibes, awesome cocktails and we loved the food. Great menu!!! Staff so helpful cheerful and friendly.
We were in Wellington over the weekend of the Covid level was raised. The hotel is centrally located and the room was great and the staff were helpful and friendly. Thanks to the Bar man and his knowledge of the cocktails served.
A excellent hotel with a great location. We had access to the Harbour Lounge which was superb, and had a great view of the city and Wellington Harbour. Rooms were great, and friendly staff made our stay that much more enjoyable.
Repeat customer we don't stay anywhere else in Wellington except Copthorne Oriental Bay. Everything available in Hotel - and location for walking - city attractions - public transport - taxi- right outside the door
Spacious and clean room with all the amenities. Bed was super comfortable. Hotel is located in central city so it’s only couple steps to all Wellington attractions. Highly recommend this place.
CityLife was very, very clean-unlike Rydges Wellington I recently stayed at, they were filthy and did not care at all.
The room was quiet, bed comfortable, what more could you want.
Very central walk the city car park for car got rid of the rental car a free bus to airport for oldies yes I will pick this as first choice to stay in Wellington
