This very small village is difficult to get around without a car.
There is no taxi service and the supermarket is quite a walk.
That said daily trains take you to bigger centres in Sweden or Norway.
Hotel did the best steak in Sweden.

Excellent place to relax.
Excellent place to relax. Fewer hiking trails than expected (or else I couldn't find them.) Easy train ride from Stockholm to Storlien, but the way back took very long (detour via Sundsvall). Ridiculously large shopping mall.
I really liked the combination of hotel, restaurant, pub en casino. Located in a very old wooden building at the train station close to the Norwegian border. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was nice with a very nice selection of Swedish craft beers. I visited the place in winter with many snow and this was very charming. In some reviews is mentoined that it was very noisy at night, I had not experienced this. Great breakfast, fresh, healthy and tasty stuff. I recommend.
I dont ever write reviews, but this place was great. Traveling alone on my bike, and Storliens Fjållgård was exactly the sort of inn I hoped to stay. Well located on the border between Norway and Sweden. The propieter was very friendly and hospitable, even turned the suana on for me after the long cold day. Dinner and breakfast was delicious and substantial, rooms and building were quaint and clean. 10/10 would recommend.
Note - this is a hikers/skiers place: it's run like a hostel, which was perfect for our needs (ie it's not a guesthouse or a hotel!) Lovely friendly staff, excellent breakfast and a well equipped kitchen for self catering/evening meals. Please note you need to bring your own bedding and towel, and clean your room before leaving - this keeps the costs down for outdoor visitors.
Excellent breakfast and nice atmosphere in the evening with live music. Quirky room but comfortable. Nice to have kettle in the room. Good location, walkable from train station (v close) and ski lift (few minutes walk). The hotel stored our luggage during the day while we went skiing, before the check-in was available.
The hotel is in a fabulous position overlooking the countryside in Storlien. We were made very welcome and enjoyed our stay. The copper bar is especially nice, having had a recent refurbishment , like many other parts of the hotel. The hotel's history is very evident .
Good location near the station and a big Coop nearby. Storlien is a small town so we got to see aurora from a dark spot within walking distance.
Good room with comfortable beds.
Good vegan options at breakfast, they even had vegan meat and cheese.
