Lovely old fashioned pub, with super friendly and helpful staff. The room was spacious with bottled water, biscuits and a little fridge. Lovely little private area patio for residents outside, superb views. Breakfast and evening meals were very good as well.

Just about everything....stayed here before. Just after the refurbishment too. Breakfast (continental style) brought to our room. Rooms are fabulous. Finishing touches too! Even down to a bedside quirky alarm clock.

Lovely little cottage. Be aware of steep steps upstairs.
Lovely little cottage. Be aware of steep steps upstairs. Couldn’t use log burner as log store locked up . There was no property information as is usually in holiday rentals. The car park where you could use a free parking pass was full so had to pay, which is no fault of the property.

Excellent location to Mam Tor, Winnats Pass and surrounding...
Excellent location to Mam Tor, Winnats Pass and surrounding walks. Village pretty and quaint with a few shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs to visit. Visitors center within the village. We stayed at the Castle, nice enough. Also ate there for dinner and food and service was good. I'd say Castleton is a place you'd stay for 1-2 nights.Cassidy - 10Scored 10
We love Castleton.
We love Castleton. It is such a great place for walking, from a short walk along the river to Hope, to 3-4 hour walks to Mam Tor or Loose Hill (this includes returning to Castleton). And there are some cozy fireside pubs right in the centre of the village with good food. We have stayed overnight at 3 pubs (Ye Olde Nags Head, The Castle and The Cheshire Cheese) and its just great. A few gift shops, but no supermarkets .... which means we are not tempted to do the shopping while we are away! To be honest I don't know where the nearest supermarket is. Have fun in Castleton!

Wonderful place, have stayed many times , plenty of walks for all abilities, the caverns are well worth a visit, and Peak cavern is a brilliant venue to see live bands and films, all the pubs are warm, welcoming and all the meals we have had were good value and excellent, never mind the real ales, well worth a holiday.AndrewUnited Kingdom - 8.0Scored 8.0

Castleton is a lovely village with lots of things to do and see. You have to like hiking and hills especially. There are numerous pubs all offering similar ware and all having a warm ambiance that makes you feel welcome. The village is full of history and is truly the gateway to a lot of hiking routes, mines, and just general nice English things you can and should doLaidlaw - 8.0Scored 8.0

A lovely little place! If you like waking or friendly pubs a great location! We went on a Friday and lots of the shops closed, not sure why? Only small not much about to ‘wander’ but a couple of tea rooms You can easily do a lovely loop of Castletown in under an hour.,AAnonymous

But more than that the villages around have tons of lovely pubs, shops, and history as well as being in a beautiful part of the world where you can go for walks long or short. YHAs are no frills but for 30 pounds to have your own room, have it be quiet and free wifi- you can't really complain.HeidiUnited Kingdom

There's a view of the castle from the single bedroom - a bonus we hadn't expected. The cottage is extremely clean and cozy. The parking lot is conveniently located across the street. Nobody had any negative comments about the quality of the food. As a group of 10 adults at meal time we were all able to sit together and food was served at the same time. Rooms were clean although a little small (this is a 17th century coaching Inn!). Great location in Castleton near to Caverns and Walks.
