We stayed in the amazing Stari Grad, a rabbit warren of an ancient citadel. Parking is tricky. You either leave your car below Stari Grad, down by the beach and walk up 300 stone steps or find a parking space at the exit of it. Luggage has to be carried to it.
There are plenty of restaurants in Stari Grad, but no shops, so you have to walk to those and then carry the shopping back. Plenty of shopping facilities and markets in the main town. Lovely beach (300 steps down and then up again). Fabulous place, but you have to be able to walk on steps and hills.

We stayed for 4 nights and we had a rental car as it would have been difficult to be without a car in this area. I would say that most people were using the place as a short stop over on their travels. For eating out I’d recommend La Tavola great food and descent portions at a very good price.

The old town is inferior to other cities in Montenegro.
The old town is inferior to other cities in Montenegro. Velika beach is gorgeous. I advise you to go there immediately. The city itself along the way is quite dirty and dilapidated. This may leave a negative impression.

Ulcinj is our favorite place to spend a few days of vacation.
During summer it is very populated by many tourists.
The beautiful beach and the special cuisine make it an enviable and favorite place.
I can mention "La tavola" restaurant for very delicious dishes.
But you can also find fast and very tasty food in bakery shops, such as: pies, pizzas, croissants, very characteristic yogurt of the country.
People are very kind and friendly.

We lived in the perifery of the town, on the Rruga 14, beside the R-22, whis is full of bakeries and stands with fruits and vegetables. There is a big traffic jam every evening on R-22, as everybody returns from the beaches to the town through only one street.

Well, I suppose that the experience with Ulcinj can vary a lot depending on the time of the year you visit. Summer months visit I would avoid for the future, foremost due to disastrous traffic jams all across the Jadranska magistrala. 120 km we drove 4 hours 30 minutes. Ulcinj itselves is otherwise good located to travel to Podgorica, to the Fortress in Albanian nearest city Skhadar, to the lake Shkadar. Plenty of shops in Ulcinj, hypermarket quality is varying. Idea,Voli, Franca are OK, Solaris sometimes gives a dirty impression. Ulcinj city center overcrowded, main beach dirty mostly by loads of cigarette rests thrown in sand, and on left side big pipe, that probably sometimes brings waste water directly to sea.
Velika Plaža nice regarding sand, but plenty of garbage all around. Even wreck of old Renault Twingo on the beach. However, due to shallow sea, good for children, and compared to many other beaches seen in MNE, this one seems to be the best one.
Due to some acute footfinger problem I had to visit local hospital, that was a nice surprise, as no queues, skilled professional english speaking doctor, and although prescribed antibiotics were old 1st generation, worked all well.
Prices in MNE in shops are not anymore cheap, compared to my homecountry Czech Republic were almost the same, sometimes even higher. On the other way, local bakeries "Pekara" have good tasty assortment and for cheap prices.
Due to very hot weather going to 40 degrees, when you book, book appartment with own pool - absolutely worth invested surplus money.
We had a super nice holiday at the Hotel Haus Freiburg. The hotel absolutely lived up to expectations. We feel extremely comfortable. The staff was super friendly. The food was delicious and most of the guests were super nice. The owner personally took care of our well-being. He was extremely polite and very courteous. We already miss the hotel and have decided to book only this hotel out of all the hotels in Montenegro.
Villa Dulcinea in Ulcinj City, Montenegro, is a hidden gem in the old town. With stunning sea views and a warm, English and German-speaking owner, it offers an unforgettable experience. The hotel's location provides easy access to beautiful beaches, and the on-site restaurant serves amazing food. If you're seeking an authentic and memorable stay, I highly recommend the Dulcinea Hotel.
Beautiful hotel, perfect location in Ulcinj - right in the old town with direct sea view. Doesn't get any better than this. We were particularly happy with the staff, they were all very kind and helpful! And we got to enjoy a fantastic breakfast. Also, it's on the far corner of the old town - a nice and quiet location but not far from all the action during summer.
Amazing place in amazing surroundings .
Hotel is located in absolutely astonishing are in historic building but still room is moder , confortable for that place and well equipped .
Brekdast was served in Restaurant Dulcinea that have amazing view and exellent food. It was a great stop on long wat for us, we regret it was only two nights and we plan to return.
The beach is very close; you don't even need to start the car. The beach is tidy, but the road leading to it has a lot of dust. We arrived late in the evening, but the next day, we made the most of our time on the beach because the hotel owner provided us with a place to leave our belongings and shower after coming back from the beach. Thank you so much!
The hotel was very good , the rooms were very clean and the food very good , the staff was perfect they were really helpful and when I asked for late check out they approved that without any charge . Also I made som mistake in my booking and they were so friendly and fixed everything for me . Very family friendly loved the place .
We have got what we have booked for. Very kind and helpful staff in the hotel. Delicious breakfast every morning with enough choice for everyone. Very pleasant stay and we will come back when we visit Ulcinj again. My recommendation for everyone who are asking for safe and calm environment.
The staff was very friendly and helpful with showing us where to park and providing free transportation from our vehicle to the hotel. The facilities (pool, restaurant and rooms) were wonderful and clean with a beautiful view. We had a very relaxing time there. We would return again!
A fantastic place, both the location of the hotel and facilities themselves. Friendly and service minded staff. Ideal place for a little family like ours with 2 younger kids that are not that much into sightseeing but would rather be in the water all day long :-)
We enjoyed our stay in the place though it was almost empty due to the season. But we really received a great service from the hotel staff. Specially just for us they cleaned the pool and let us stay there till late night
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting.Restaurant is a 10/10
Hosted by a super helpful family, this is an absolutely great option in Ulcinj. The pool area is absolutely pristine and beautiful, and easily rivals those of actual boutique hotels.
Perfect location, near the city center. Loved the room , was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this Hotel.
It was as shown on Booking profile as far as accommodation concerne. There are 3 markets nearby, and it was easy commute throughout Ulcinj, and to Velika plaža and back.
A gorgeous apart-hotel in a beautiful location. Rooms were well stocked and clean and surroundings were stunning. Just outside Ulcinj so quiet and peaceful.
I found a comfortable place for vacation. With a position close to the sea. With the best impressions of both the staff and the conditions of the hotel.👍
