This was hands down the best experience of our whole India trip in the South! We met Jose first through staying at his homestay and he was incredibly hospitable and kind, chatting with us and giving us heaps of advice! This is Jose's own Houseboat that he booked and arranged for us and the whole experience was just incredible. The boat itself is a great size as it gives you the privacy you need for a couple staying overnight and it also allowed us to travel through narrower waters where they weren't any other tourists!! The backwaters were so beautiful and we had so much fun enjoying the view and the boat. The room in the boat is super clean, well maintained and there is even hot water and an AC machine!! This was luxury for us haha but it was super nice and we would highly recommend staying here. As well as this, the captain and the cook were also on board and they were the friendliest and kindest people ever! The captain talked away with me as I had endless questions and the chef is such a great funny guy, and showed us all these exercises and we even went for a swim with him! Also the food that we got served on the boat for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and also snacks) were AMAZING and traditional kerala style! It was all SOO YUMMY and me and my boyfriend were super satisfied 😋 Overall, Jose was the best host and this Houseboat experience was our best experience so far in the South. Located in Alleppey, Why Not Houseboat offers accommodation with seating area. There is a private entrance at the boat for the convenience of those who stay. Everything was amazing from start to finish. The boat is beautifully furnished, the sun deck at the top was an added bonus, great for sunbathing and relaxing. We saw many boats and ours looked the best by far. The 3 staff on board were super, the food cooked was plentiful and tasty. We were left alone to really relax.

The chef is incredible - best food i have had in the whole India trip. Varied and delicious. Aircon in bedrooms and of an evening in the downstairs lounge, plus aircon in the dining room. Slept like a log. Wonderful relaxing backwater cruise. Highly recommend Grand Villa Houseboat.

Route they traveled is entirely different from the others route, so the journey was peaceful & relaxing. One of the best backwater experience for me. Staff, food & room are amazing.
