Khaosok August Freedom Camp
Khao Sok

This was my first camping experience in Thailand, and I loved it. I was a bit wary because the listing said "empty lot", but I got a big tent with a mat and blanket, as well as a towel, toilet paper, my own fan, and extension cord for charging my phone. The tents are on an elevated platform and sheltered from the elements. Breakfast was included in the price and consisted of fresh bananas and delicious local sweets. The location is really great because it's quiet and serene, but it takes 5 minutes to walk to the entrance to the national park and all the restaurants. You can book tours of the Khao Sok National Park directly from the host. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.

Very clean, incredible food which was super affordable. The staff were extremely helpful - we booked our bungalow tour through them and they organised free transport to the town for us! So friendly and kind throughout the whole process.

The hostel has arranged for us to go on the tour when we booked the property and we paid for the tour when we got there. The family who owns the hostel were so nice and helpful. The food in their restaurant was also gorgeous. The owner let us use the shower facilities when we came back from the tour before our bus came to pick us up, he was very nice. Our room has great air conditioning and was perfect for what we needed. Thanks for a great stay!

They have a couple of intertubes that we used to go upstream a couple hundred yards and floated back to the campsite:) The surrounding area is beautiful. They provide a tent, a fan, a thin blanket, sheets, and an approximately 2” thick pad. If you are taller than 5’10” the tents will be a very tight squeeze. We rented motorbikes and had a lot of fun driving those around.
