Gleann Na Smol, hotel in Howth

Gleann Na Smol, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is set in Howth, 1.7 km from Burrow Beach, 11 km from Portmarnock Golf Club, as well as 15 km from Croke Park Stadium.

Sean was a very friendly and helpful host. When we arrived he showed us where we could find everything and recommended places to have our evening meal. We followed his recommendation and ate at a local bar restaurant, O’Neills, where we had a nice meal and great hospitality from the locals. Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to try Sean’s full Irish breakfast included in the booking because our homeward ferry was cancelled at short notice and we were put on an earlier crossing. However, Sean had left breakfast cereals, croissants and fruit for us to have before we left at 6am. The hospitality was second to none.

Marine Hotel, hotel in Howth

The Marine Hotel is a 5-minute walk from the beach and has rooms with views over Dublin Bay.

Located right at the beach and the peninsula Howth the Marine Hotel is a very nice stay. It has seen better days though, especially the pool area. Nevertheless we had a very good time there and everyone was very accommodating and nice. I would stay there again.

Howth is the place to stay when visiting Dublin.

Howth is the place to stay when visiting Dublin. Just 30 minutes by train away from he city centre, it is a small but beautiful town on a penninsula surrounded with cliffs and seagull collonies. Many great pubs and restuarants, fantastic views and, contrary to Dublin - the calm and peaceful atmosphere where you can really relax.

I did not know what to expect as we booked last minute to go to a concert in Malahide. Howth is a beautiful seaside town with lots on offer (restaurants, bars, cafes etc...) We hope to return in the near future to spend more time there. Great for couples & families. A bit hilly in places so you need to have good mobility if you want to explore or stay slightly out of town. I visited a beautiful cove in the morning time where there were lots of swimmers in the sea & it was so peaceful...great way to start the day.

Location: This was the first time we were setting foot on...

Location: This was the first time we were setting foot on Irish soil. King Sitric in Howth was the first place we headed to from Dublin Airport. No regrets! So much to see and do in Howth. Charming views in every direction. So much to take in. Transport: A short taxi ride or walk to the train station. Buses stop less than 100m from the hotel. I think one even passes right in front of the hotel. People: The Irish are the best. Everywhere, they seem to be so welcoming and genuine. Hotel and Rooms: Interesting history. It should be promoted more. Pleasant and friendly staff. Our room was steps from the ocean. What a lovely welcome to a lovely country. The room had nice little touches. Loved the in-room Nespresso & chocs. Nice hot showers. Food: Amazingly fresh seafood in the restaurant downstairs for dinner (apparently caught by local fisherman in the sea right outside our room) and upstairs for guests' breakfasts; the menu items were well-chosen. Fish is also an option for breakfast! Found it strange though that so little bread is given, as there's so much rich and flavourful sauce to lap up. We even paid for more bread, but again it was just one tiny slice of bread. Maybe it's an Irish thing? Pricing: We found Ireland in general to be very expensive, from hotels to food to shopping.

Nice city few minutes away from Dublin's airport.

Nice city few minutes away from Dublin's airport. Some hidden beaches. Some good pubs to have a drink or eat like O'Connells. Great views of the sea. The road can be steep, I recommend having a vehicule. Various accommodations like Glenn na Smol (B&B).

Cliff walk, buzz of day trippers, cafes and restaurants.

Cliff walk, buzz of day trippers, cafes and restaurants. Everything well maintained. Initially had trouble getting a pre dinner drink as most bars.taverns are booking their tables for diners. We were put out in the cold in O'Connells! Finally hit on The Harbour Bar which was lovely.

All the pubs serve the same type food ...very dated - fish and chips all that beautiful fish in batter...such a shame - there would need to be more variety without having to avail of fine dining. The food offerings do seem to be stuck in a time zone, needs to be more vegetarian, vegan etc.... However, Howth is beautiful and well worth a stay.

The owner was so kind and caring. The location was amazing! Close to the cliff trail. Enjoyed the fresh sea air. The decor of King Sitric is so beautiful. The beds were extremely comfortable. The room is well equipped with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and toiletries. Shower with plenty of power and hot water. Make time to have the yummy breakfast in the hotel dining area over looking the ocean. Also their restaurant food was amazing. It is a short walk from the train station through beautiful Howth village. Everyone is so friendly their.

We stayed in Gleann an Smol for one night as we were going to a gig in Malahide Castle. Sean went above and beyond to accommodate us - he offered to drop us to the bus stop in centre of Howth to get to the gig and when he got that far and there was no bus at the stop he ended up bringing us all the way to malahide! He went completely out of his way to help us out - not many hosts would do the same. The property itself is old school and homely! Sean the host is very friendly and he is a great chatter!! great experience and would

Sean was an amazing man.... So friendly, chatty and helpful. We were in Howth for a funeral and he was able to help others with accommodation last minute. He went out his way to make this happen.... Couldn't have asked for a better host! With us; he made us feel very welcome and cooked a great breakfast for us. The guest house is a typical Irish home.... He was happy to give details of the property's history. His home is clean, tidy and a classic Irish warren! I loved it. Thank you Sean... So very much for your kindness.

Sean, the owner, is a true gem. Salt of the earth—kind, helpful, generous—he was a joy to meet and took fantastic care of us. We arrived very early-long before check in-and he cooked us up an amazing full Irish breakfast before we headed out on a hike while our room was being prepared. I would recommend his place to anyone traveling to Howth. Another reviewer summed it up well—it’s like staying at your favorite uncle’s home while on vacation. We felt like he was an old familiar friend within minutes of meeting him.

The staff were great. Because we had to leave very early, they prepared us a buffet breakfast for the morning and left it in our room. Because we arrived quite late they made the effort to fit us in to their restaurant for an evening meal, which was delicious. The room was modern and really comfortable with an excellent en-suite. The location was fantastic being right on the seafront with walks around the marina and the lighthouse. Very convenient for travel to Dublin ferry terminal. Would definitely recommend!

They even arranged a chauffeur on short notice for us. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant was very good. The hotel is located right on the bay. It is close to the Dart train station. Engaging, friendly staff in both the hotel and the restaurant. The management team went out of their way to help me. The room had all amenities, including a box of delightful chocolates. The location is perfect, right across from the water and on the main street, close to everything. The driver, James, is the best. He picked me up form the airport and provided local history on the ride to Howth. Highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

The location of this b&b is lovely, in a very attractive part of Howth and just a short walk into town. Sean greeted us on arrival and gave us a good recommendation for dinner. He informed us that breakfast was from 7am and was accommodating to our need for gluten free items and got specific things in for the kids for breakfast. On the first morning of our stay we had a very nice breakfast.

Howth is only a short trip on the train out from the hustle and bustle of Dublin. So after seeing all the sites you can have a quieter evening. Although Howth has plenty of life and character. The host a Gleann na Smol is welcoming, informative and nothing is too much trouble. He personally drove me to see a specific site. The breakfast is spot on.
