This very pleasant and comfortable Hotel has an excellent location, just a few blocks from the train station, and also just a few blocks from the old town, the main attraction of kuroshiki. The town and the surrounding area are interesting. The staff is helpful and the breakfast was very good. I like that they had a refrigerator and electric kettle, as do all toyoko Inns.

The staff is lovely! The hotel gives a feeling of home! The rooms are pampering - spacious and very clean. We sleep 3 people in the room. The location is very convenient, really close to the station and really close to everything you want to see in the area.

Cute place for a day trip, or a one night stay. If you travel off season, know that the boats are only operating during the weekend. No need to spend a lot of time here, you can see most sights in a few hours. Nevertheless, a beautiful city with an impressive historical center!

From the moment we decided to stay at Temari Oitoma Inn and booked our stay there the process was seamless. So, we were off to a good start and our good luck continued. The inn was close to Bikan Historical District, less than a 10” minute walk and there were many good restaurants and shops in the same area. There are many fun and interesting things to see and do in Kurashiki and we could have stayed there another couple of days. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Super cute city.
Super cute city. You can stay half day, but fyi the station near the old center it's 1h away from Shinkansen stations. If you arrive (very) early go book a boat trip along the canal at the turist center

Kurashiki was a major disappointment, a Disney-fied "historic" town that has sold its soul to tourism - restaurants offering the same dismal fare, trinket shops, soft ice cream outlets galore and mobs of tourists lined up outside same. You can walk it all in about two hours, including your break for ice cream. Put on a straw hat and take a ride along the 200-meter long "canal" to "partake of the history". Yawn.
Definitely not worth the time when Japan has so many much better places to visit.

Kurashiki is a small town that immerses you in very authentic local life. With cute shops, an old centre and nice temple park. And if you like, a big mall and supermarket. I needed some relaxing in a smaller city and Kurashiki was just what I needed!

The main attraction here is the Bikan Kurashiki Historical Quarter. The area is nicely restored and preserved, now used as cafes, eateries, museums, and shops (tourists). It is a cozy, safe, and pleasant environment to walk around. IMHO, this is a good hang-out place for a weekend getaway. Travel a bit south to Washuzan for a stunning hilltop view of Seto Ohashi Bridge and the beautiful port town of Kojima.
The machiya has been beautifully renovated and has got all the modern amenities one could expect. Everything is new and very refined. Staff at the nearby gallery is kind and attentive, and provided instructions in English about every aspect of the house and stay. Delicious bread, jam and fruit provided everyday for breakfast. The location is perfect, right at Bikan hostorical quarter and within walking distance from Kurashiki Station, making it the perfect base for exploring the entire Okayama area.
The location of the hotel is only 2 minutes walk (effectively across the road) from the start of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. Whilst the price and staff service was typical business hotel, the hotel lobby and the rooms were spacious and comfortable and much more like 3 or 4 star hotel. I would highly recommend arriving in time in the afternoon or early evening for their complementary afternoon tea as it is a amazing.
Ami and her team were most helpful in assisting on recommending & making dinner reservations at fabulous restaurants. The family suite was roomy and very comfortable & cosy. Hotel conveniently located within 3 minutes walk from Kurashiki station and within walking distance to many places of interest including the river boat rides. Snacks like bagels in the room were delicious.
Fantastic location steps from the heart of the historic district. Staff were super friendly and helpful with my awkward baggage at check in. Bar/cafe seemed like a fun place. I stayed in the twin room. The place is like a combo hostel and boutique hotel and it's a really interesting renovation of what was apparently an old wedding venue.
The hotel is in a historic charming building, with outstanding staff, who guided us to our room and loaned us a wheelchair gratis. We enjoyed the old town immensely with an hour richshaw ride and a fun gondola trip. Terrific unagi (eel) dinner that was tasty and memorable.
Hotel has a free onsen, laundry room, vending machines.
This is an immaculately presented exceptional property in a magnificent location. A beautifully & thoughtfully designed contemporary Japanese piece of architecture with incredible attention to detail everywhere, discretely located right in the heart of Kurashiki - Just Magic !
The location was convenient -- not too far from the train station, very close to the historical quarter and shops and restaurants. The top-floor onsen was not the most elaborate we've seen at a Dormy Inn, but was still quite nice. The room was clean and pleasant.
The room is nicely designed. The bed and pillow is comfortable. Loved the public bath as well. There is a small workout room but I didn’t get to use it. The location is near to Kurashiki station and the Bikan Historical quarter. Overall a great stay.
Hostel Cuore is a wonderful place. The room was very big and with all the comforts, a gem in Japan! The bar is great to have a drink or read a book and the staff is lovely. I have been in many hotels in Japan and this really stands out!
Close to JR station, and also walking distance to historical area. Very clean and modern hotel, Spacious room, Buffet breakfast was excellent. Also onsen facility was a big plus- absolutely enjoyed our stay.
The free afternoon tea was great, we basically went there for it. It's close to the Kurashiki Bikan area, and we were able to walk around there at night.
Great location near the train station but which was very quiet as well…very modern clean and comfortable room and lobby area…friendly and helpful staff
