My Partner and I have visited Akaroa three times, the views are absolutely beautiful, the French heritage is evident, gardens are well maintained around the village. There are lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants to suit all.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants. You must sail on the Fox II to see the dolphins, penguins and seals and learn about the local history. Outstanding! Very walkable town and also some good hiking.

Akaroa is a must-visit township, it has some amazing cafes/restaurants, and the food is great and varied. Some of them have both inside and outside seating so it is lovely to take advantage of that on a nice day. There are also some great wee shops to visit where you can find a treasure of two. We found a gin-tasting cafe that is a must-visit when you are there and also an Indian Restaurant whose food was amazing. All the shops and cafes are within walking distance if your accommodation is in town. There are some great walks to go on and we also went swimming with the dolphins which is an experience I highly recommend when you are in Akaroa.

We loved the quaint historic town.

We loved the quaint historic town. We loved its French flavour. The cafe’s and restaurants outstanding especially Ma Maison where we had the best meal ever. The food, the flavours and the welcoming staff, outstanding! We had breakfast at The Common, again fabulous. We loved walking round the bay to the quay. Everyone was so friendly and happy to stop and talk. At the end of the quay was the prize, the beautiful pearl shop, an absolute must to visit. We can’t wait to return. Already planning a longer trip.

I have been a regular visitor as my French ancestors founded it. The only thing that stops me coming more often is that dangerous-feeling hill up and down. Nice, quiet (mostly) place that focuses on food, events and nature. Need to put in a lot more effort to add more genuine French flavour to shops and activities. A simple Bonjour is not too difficult. Akaroa's true French nature is being dumbed down by new arrivals who are only interested in commerical gain.

Lovely big room with a balcony overlooking Akaroa harbour. Very comfy beds - king sized main bed plus a single bed. Lovely large bathroom. A kitchenette - toaster, electric kettle, microwave, hotplates and all the things you need to prepare a simple meal. I left my Kindle in the room and the hotel contacted me straight away and have sent it via courier to my next location! Above and beyond - thank you :)

The property is located just a little further from Akaroa and is a very beautifully landscaped place. We enjoyed our visit very much and walked the property with all the flowers and nice views. The hosts Nicky and Fram treated us so well and surprised us with several delicious treats at our arrival. We also enjoyed the great advice for food and things to do in the area. We would stay there again for sure.

The location is right in the heart of Akaroa, straight across the road from the waterfront. The sunny courtyard accessible from the lounge and master bedroom was a lovely private area, but with a wrought iron gate that afforded views to the sea and street. Lovely views of the sea and street from open plan lounge/dining/kitchen.

This is a delightful place. The owners are friendly & helpful. They work hard to keep up a beautiful old house along with gorgeous flower gardens. Everything was neat, clean and tidy. They had lots of suggestions of places to visit. The location is convenient to Akaroa, about 12 km away,’and very close to the water.

This hotel was a great find and in a perfect location. Jacqui was a wonderful hostess, with nothing too much trouble and great to chat with. The whole place was spotless and comfortable, very homely and breakfast was excellent and just enough to set us up for the day ahead. We loved our stay and will be back.

Location was superb as was the view. Place was tidy, comfortable and warm and we really enjoyed the balcony as the sun went down. There is a restaurant/bar below and we were worried that that noise might affect us but it didn't, I guess the people in holiday in Akaroa at this time of year are really chilled

We needed a room in Akaroa as attending a workshop, so location was very good for us. We arrived quite late after a long drive from Nelson, and the host was so kind to still be available and have the bar open for an end-of-day brew. Parking right behind the house was a breeze.
