Monte Gordo is lovely and quiet. In April anyway.
Monte Gordo is lovely and quiet. In April anyway. I know the Algarve and I can tell that Monte Gordo is the Opposite of Albufeira. Diferent kind of tourism. Less boozing.it hás the pinewoods where you can cycle or walk or Run, Vila Real de Sto Antônio is close by and there are markets on some weekends
It is very close to Spain and Ayamonte is a cute place to visit or within less that two hours drive you could BE in Seville.
Also close by is Tavira and its many churches
Loads to see

Monte Gordo's beach is amazing. You can walk for hours! The boardwalk is great with lots of toilet facilities. Many great eating places and mini supermarkets make Monte Gordo a perfect place to visit. We caught the local bus in and the local train out. A car is not necessary.

We love the beautiful sandy beaches and safe water.
We love the beautiful sandy beaches and safe water. Plenty of walks along the beach to Vila Real and Praia Verde. Buses to Tavira, Ferries to Taviraa Island and also to Ayamonte for a taste of Spain!
Everyone is friendly, there are numerous cafes and bars along with some very special restaurants. You could spend all day just eating and drinking!
We happened to be there for the Golden Pigeon Race - what an atmosphere! We also witnessed murmurations of starlings on two mornings. On one visit we spotted dolphins and every time we enjoy watching the fishermen take their boats out and return with their catch. We have seen many changes to Montegordo over the years and look forward to returning many more times in the future!

Monte Gordo was an excellent place to stay for around a week. There were some excellent restaurants and the beach was great for long walks, even if the water was too cold to think about a dip!!
The town was quiet and clean and offered some trips to nearby sites that were good for a visit. A great area to cycle around and not far from the Spanish border if you fancy a trip over

This is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at, at an exceptionally good price. Valter was particularly helpful and spoke perfect English. The included breakfast was a banquet with endless fresh orange juice included. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The hotel is easy walking to a wide fine sand beach through a nice walking only road with many shops and restaurants. It is simply a lovely hotel.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Providing an excellent service.
The level of cleanliness is great
The facilities are more than what you can expect from a 🌟 🌟 🌟 hotel.
