The room was well appointed with comfortable bedding and chairs. The restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the ambience. It was nice having a pool although the water was a little cool for swimming, but it was still early in the season (late May).
I called reception to ask for glasses and ice to have a drink in our room and within 2 minutes there was a knock on the door.
Their Orvieto Classico wine was excellent and we bought 2 bottles. Wish we bought more!

We arrived at Orvieto by train and caught the Funicular up to the town. It was very straight forward and fun. Once up the top you can catch the bus to the Duomo main square however there is really no need as the walk is very straight forward up Corso Cavour and you can see the shops & restaurants on the way. Orvieto is a beautiful little town. The Cathedral is grand and the façade is one of the most attractive we have seen. The views from Fortezza Albornoz are spectacular.
The narrow streets dotted with bars, restaurants and flowers are beautiful.
There are numerous bars and restaurants to choose from. We visited at the end of May and the weather was perfect and not too busy.

It is a small but beautiful etrurian and medieval city sourrounded by cliffs. Worth to wander along the pebbled roads and have a meal in any of the restaurants. Beautiful romanesque cathedral.

Orvieto shouldn't be missed on a trip to Umbria.
Orvieto shouldn't be missed on a trip to Umbria. It's quite a beautiful town.
I'd like to apologize to the host 'Enzo' for my initial review. I was in a grumpy (tired) mood and he did try his best to accomodate us with his suggestions. I liked his secure parking. Thank you, Vincenzo. Visiting the town was easy to do. We ate at 'Il Mercato'; excellent food and service. The Duomo is unreal. Gorgeous facade.

The stupendous Duomo of Orvieto is on top of the list of places to visit. The cathedral commemorates the Miracle of the Eucharist in Bolsena-droplets of blood that stained the altar linen, made some time in the1260’s. According to the Bradt Guide for Italy, Umbria & The Marche regions, “A Bohemian priest named Peter, was on his way to Rome, was asked to celebrate mass in Bolsena, just to the south. Father Peter had long been skeptical about the doctrine of the Host becoming the body of Christ during the mass, but the Host itself answered his doubts by dripping blood on the altar linen. Peter took the linen to the Pope (Urban IV) and he declared it a miracle and instituted the Feast of Corpus Christi. Pope Urban IV promised Orvieto (rather unfairly to Bolsena) a magnificent new cathedral. “
The exterior façade of this gothic cathedral, has mosaics depicting the life of Christ, the Virgin Mary, etc. with stunning gold backgrounds, that glow in the afternoon sun. The interior has cycles of frescos throughout, painted Fra Angelico, Luca Signorelli, Perugino, Piero della Francesca, to name a few.
The other most remarkable attraction in Orvieto is the Viaggio nella “Città Sotterranea”, the Orvieto Underground tours. We took an fascinating, evening tour given in English by a local guide. Tours can be booked through an office near to the cathedral in Piazza Duomo. As the brochure notes “Orvieto Underground is the best way to become acquainted with this new, unusual aspect of a culture of a city that abounds in history and outstanding art treasures. The tour takes you along a winding subterranean path through tunnels, stairs, unexpected passageways, superimposed rooms, with innumerable small square niches, all of which bear witness to creation over the centuries of this “city underground”.

People who just do a day trip from Rome miss out on exploring the romantic little town and really getting a feeling for the history of it.
3 - 4 days is jsut right if you want to walk around the entire town once and do all the sightseeing and relax at the same time.
You will laugh, but my fridge was outside between my window and shutters, I had breakfast at my window and grabbed pizza as take away in town. I have got a fear to get lost in big cities - so Orvieto is perfect - you just stroll around everywhere and when you want to get hoem you ask : " Duomo ? " and peopl;e point you in the right direction. :)
The well is super interesting, the dome was great, the Etruscan museum and walking around the bottom of the town.

The hostess where i stayed is wonderful.
The hostess where i stayed is wonderful. She gave me restaurant tips. I went to two restaurants and cafes too. They were all good.
Orvieto is wonderful to walk around with beautiful scenery, interesting history and great shops. Top quality beautiful goods. Leather and ceramics and clothing all top quality. A magical experience awaits at one shop with armour outside.
The whole town is a photographers dream and the views of the surrounding countryside are amazing. Especially from the clock tower. Beautiful walks along well kept paths overlooking the countryside.
The Duomo is stunning and there are many galleries, museums and historic places to visit. Easy to walk around. A funicular ride up is special.
The underground tour is so interesting.
Chiara e Benedetta is such a hidden gem. The view is just divine - a quintessential Italian view and the room homely. Ros and her staff all extremely friendly and go out of their way to help, making restaurant recommendations and even taking me to the train station when I left. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious and includes home made baked treats.
It was a spur of the moment decision to say here and away from the big cities of Italy for a couple nights and I am so glad I did. I loved exploring Orvieto and will definitely be back.
this is a wonderful property, perfect location and a great price. People who run it are so nice and the breakfast is downstairs in their little trattoria/bar. Its right near the Duomo and of course many restaurants and shops everywhere. we wish we had stayed longer in Orvieto, the room we stayed in was just fine, it did have ac. The Magnolia took our license plate down so hopefully driving into centro zone fines won’t be an issue. All in all this is a wonderful convenient location right in Centro.
Such a cool experience! The location is prime and accessible to anything I wanted- but it was tucked into a quiet and secure area. The hosts/owners were so helpful and available if I needed. The room was spacious and comfy - that bed was amazing! I love how I had the privacy of my own room but a communal area if I chose to use it.
Highly recommend this cute boutique hotel. It was very comfortable, safe, private and central. Thank you for such a memorable experience in Orvieto.
Friendly, helpful staff, always with a smile on their faces! Loved the location, close to shops, restaurants, laundromat & the Duomo. Breakfast was a good selection with hot, cold & sweet dishes to choose from. We were upgraded to a Junior suite which was spacious & comfortable, bathroom was on the small side with no shelves in the shower for soap, shampoo etc, great shower though! This Hotel was one of our favourites, loved it!
The place is like a five star hotel in the middle of the magic Orvieto. We had more than a pleasure to sleep in this unique apartment. It had more than everything - cosmetics, water, coffie, even slippers. It was very cosy , warm and extremelly clean. The parking escalator is one minute walk from the apartment. I would really love to come back some day!
Orvieto is a magical city. And the location of this apartment was spectacular, tucked right off the Piazza del Duomo. You can't ask for more. The apartment was easy to access with a door code. It was spacious for two couples with our own bathrooms!! We spend 6 night here and I highly recommend this apartment. It does not disappoint.
The accommodation was spacious, well appointed and the position could not have been better. Communication with the owners, regarding car parking and getting the keys, was quick and clear. It was only a few minutes walk to all the main areas of Orvieto - the Duomo, St Patrick’s well, restaurants etc. Highly recommended.
Clean well equipped and comfortable two bedroom apartment. Short walk to the duomo and in the old part of Orvieto. Perfect if you were two couples as there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Full, well equipped kitchen and a washing machine. Quiet and secure. Host easy to deal with, would happily stay again.
I booked for one night, staying with my two kids, to explore Orvieto. The location is definitely perfect, super peaceful and central. It took us no time to walk to the Piazza del Popolo or the Duomo, even with kids. The rooms were very clean and the check-in was easy, even if just via an intercom.
Surprisingly nice hotel with very friendly staff. Everything was spotless clean. The room had adjustable heathing, so I could adjust the temperature myself. Very very nice, because I have had too many cold hotels in Italy. Big and very clean bathroom. Perfect location right in the historical center.
Exceptional location, so close to the awe-inspiring Duomo (of which I enjoyed a partial view from my window), right in the middle of the historic centre of Orvieto. The room was slightly old-fashioned but very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was very generous, setting me up for the rest of the day.
We had a rental car so being in the country just a short drive from Orvieto was perfect. The hotel was charming, like a country inn with beautiful stone walls and some fine paintings on the wall. It was peaceful and comfortable. The hostess was very helpful in recommending a restaurant in town.
Very helpful staff, clean room with all the usual hotel facilities. Orvieto is a lovely hill top town and the hotel is well positioned to see the sights. It's not far from the funicular railway to the new town. Vehicular access to the hotel with on street parking right next to the hotel.
I loved Orvieto and this apartment was fantastic. Really nicely decorated, really clean. The host was helpful. Loved my stay here and would stay again. The kitchen was well equiped, five minutes walk from the Duomo, a supermarket. Lots of places to eat.
Very good location just off the corso between the funicula station and the duomo - easy walk to everywhere. A nice newish little apartment with good layout. Great value. The owner was very helpful and pleasant. We all enjoyed the stay.
Central orvieto. Short walk from Duomo bus stop.
Apartment with small kitchen, cook top ,kettle.
Comfortable large bed. Air con. Excellent italian breakfast in adjacent restaurant. Quiet area. Supermarket very close. Wonderful hosts.
This is a very spacious and comfortable apartment located in Orvieto, Italy. The hosts were very accommodating. They picked me up at the Funicular and made sure that the internet was working properly. Highly recommend!
Right next to the Duomo, so you couldn't get a better location with free parking. Terrific service and guidance from the hotel staff, expecially the gentleman who kept getting our car for us.
