Never have we been welcomed this warm! Antonella is the most friendly host we've ever had. Breakfast every morning was perfect, everything was very clean and they make their own vino on the mountain! It's a very nice quiet place with a view of San Gimignano. There are chickens and other birds sometimes roaming around as well as a sweet friendly dog named Kira, which we loved. The location is near San Gimignano, it might be too far to walk, but perfectly located when you're travelling by car (the road is a bit rough, but adds to the experience. If you go slow and don't mind the cars behind you, you'll be ok). Whenever we went on day trips to Siena or Volterra etc., coming back to Montauto made us feel relaxed and the best part of the day was coming back to eat a light dinner of olives, salami, focaccia etc with some wine during sunset. Marinella is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. She offers a great italian breakfast (both sweet and savoury), which is a perfect way to start the day. We will definitely want to stay here again, if we come back to the area.
