Orquídeas Hostel is an amazing place to stay and know Salvador. It is well located (easy to get from the airport, near a traditional beach and in a point that allows you to either go to the center and access to the city beaches or to go to the more distant and less crowded beaches), they have a swimming pool that's helpful to chill and cool down and, good, equipped, organized kitchen, nice patio (where you can chill or work). Contrary to what is the norm in hostels nowadays, rooms are not overcrowded. Internet works perfectly fine. Also, you have a lot of magazines and supermarkets nearby, so it is extremely convenient. Above all, runned by a family from Bahia, the staff is incredible helpful and kind. I mistakenly did a reservation for a male room and they reorganized the rooms for me to be able to stay; when they collected acerolas from the tree in their patio they did juice and share it with the guests as they did when they baked a cake or made coffee. Their good vibes just impregnates the hostel and everyone that get's there just gets on the same vibe, so you have a great ambiance with a lot of conviviality and, yet, if you want to be alone, you can -I was working during my stay and never had a problem! They were extremely helpful with plenty of good advices on to what to do and how. It is not that I recommend to stay here, it is that I wouldn't consider to stay anywhere else!
