The semi remote area in the mountains was very serene. Theres a light hiking trail right next to the hostel along with a bus station to move further up the mountain makinv it great basecamp for a trek. Staff were super friendly and welcoming and the hostel itself was chaing and clean. Strong recommended and thanks to the staff for a great stay!

After my day of hiking I ended up at this absolutely beautiful place. The plan was to stay for 1 night but I just loved the vibe the atmosphere and it just felt for a short time like home for me so I extended from night to night and didn't want to leave. The manager and people who work there are absolutely amazing and will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The view is stunning and the sunset or sunrise is just unreal and magical. It's the perfect location to slow down and find peace in yourself surrounded by beautiful people and nature. Highly recommended the dinner and breakfast which is healthy and powerful and will be fresh cooked. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are bathrooms are nice and clean.

Delicious vegan food (I'm not) for a very modest donation. Unusual, interesting location dominating a ravine. Safe. A host of activities (yoga, meditation, painting, etc.). I met some interesting people and would be happy to stay there again. A good value and food place to eat in San Matteo is 'El Encuentro' on a street parallel to the main drag. Also a very good bus service from this pleasant town,
