Situated 1.5 km from Takayama Station, Iroriyado Hidaya is a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in Takayama, boasting a garden, a shared lounge and private parking. Literally everything. The well decorated mansion, the super delicious Japanese style breakfast, the clean , the delicate hot spring and the adorable receptionist. It was fantastic 2 days spending in the hotel. Offering a shared lounge and quiet street view, Toraya is set in Gero, 48 km from Takayama Station and 49 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. 10 min form the train station, located at the river, and close to main shops. Short walk uphill to the Ghasso Village. Very accommodating English speaking staff. We tried the private onsen for 4000 Yen and it was fabulous! Very clean, big rooms with nice energy.

Very beautiful hotel with a rich history. Amazing experience and especially thanks to the staff of Nagatiki for welcoming us in Nakatsugawa.

I spent 1 month travelling around Japan, and I can say it’s the BEST experience in my trip. I loved everything, the family’s hospitality , the room’s view breathtaking and the amazing food, which was delicately prepared with organic local ingredients , so delicious, the best meal in Japan, for sure. Besides, in the breakfast they surprise my friend singing happy birthday in Portuguese, a beautiful gesture and unforgettable. Thank you so much for all, your family is a great team!!!

Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. We loved the subtile and tasteful architecture of the place. Everything was beautiful in its simplicity. The private onsen was fantastic especially with the forest in the background. Everything was so quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The staff was so kind and provided a perfect service. Food was excellent.

Founded in 1860, Juhachiro is located along Nagara River and boasts indoor and outdoor natural hot spring baths. The property is a 15-minute bus ride from Gifu Train Station. It was overall a wonderful weekend and a wonderful stay and experience in your super clean hotel. The Onsen were amazing and your rooms even made us stay the whole afternoon inside because we just felt like home. Thank you! Our stay was exceptionally great!

Awarded by TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice in 2015, Wanosato offers luxurious Japanese-style ryokan stay in a 160-year-old quaint Gassho-zukuri thatched-roof house, nestled in the tranquil woods. Wanosato was a lovely place to stay! The staff, especially the manager, were so friendly, attentive and efficient. The attention to detail was incredible, from the personalized slippers to my luggage mysteriously appearing in my room and to the set up of my private onsen time. The food was delicious and a truly authentic Japanese dining experience. I highly recommend Wanosato to anyone who wants a peace ryokan experience surrounded by nature.

You'll find one of the best places to stay with amazing and numerous staff who'll do everything to make you feel like royalty. Everything is focus on perfection, care and attention, from the decoration to the comfort of the beds to the views, the food and the facilities (public and private baths). This is a must if it is within your budget

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. We absolutely loved this Ryokan and stayed here for multiple nights. The reasons why we loved this place and plan to come back are: (1) LOCATION! Easy to find, its just a straight 15min walk from the station on the main road and tucked in a quiet alley way by the river. Its across the river (1min walk) from the Morning Market and close to all the main sights + restaurants. Cannot get any better than this. Side note: after breakfast walk to the morning market and buy some warm pudding from the street vendor - its home made. My only regret is not eating more of it. (2) ROOM! The beds are comfortable and rooms are big. The views from the rooms are amazing. (3) FOOD! Food is delicious - we highly recommend getting the breakfast and dinner sets if possible. They change the menu each day. Its a very traditional setting with lots of great food - you will not be hungry afterwards. (4) ONSEN! The onsen in this Ryokan is the best. Very clean and comfortable. (5) STAFF! Service is 10 out of 10. The owners and staff are so kind, they will set your room each night and leave some tea + snacks in your room to unwind when you get back from walking around town. They greeted us with a green tea ceremony. They are wonderful.
