We were invated to participate in the morning ceromony. I appreciated that they provided explanations afterwards so that we could fully enjoyed it.

And I would rate this hotel a 100 out of 10 if I can, the high rating is truly deserved. The staff is very kind and welcoming. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the futon is comfortable. The location is great, there are many food places nearby, the beach is just a few minutes walk away (you can even see it from your room depending on where you are placed), and the bus stop which will take you to the station or most places around Shirahama is very near.

Everybody was really kind and the afternoon meditation and prayer ceremony in the morning were beautiful. our room was spacious and we have our own toilet and lavatory, very modern. Room 1. The food, completely vegan was really great, perfect amount and presented beautiful!

When I arrived at the house with tired hiking body, he returned the money which I paid more in booking.com forwardly at the situation that I didn't know I paid more.

Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. Originally developed as a lodging for the temples’ pilgrims, it conducts Buddhist services every morning that guests can attend. Nankai Koyasan Train Station is a 15-minute drive away.

Fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding, each room comes with a flat-screen TV and a seating area. A safety deposit box is also provided. Koyasan is a beautiful area and well worth staying a night. Saizenin is stunningly appointed and the morning prayer was a very spiritual experience. It's right opposite an amazing temple complex which is so busy during the day but you have it to yourself in the evening when the day trippers have left. The monk cadet school is just up the road and being woken at five in the morning with their beautiful mass chanting was also a totally unique experience. The textures of the traditional vegan Shojin Ryori food are difficult for Western tastes, even for those accustomed to Japanese cuisine. But I admire that they have strictly upheld their traditions and have refused to adapt to the potential demands of their foreign visitors. It's an experience.
