Great eating out, some a little overpriced however.
Great eating out, some a little overpriced however. Monday is a very quiet night for eating out!
For a good unpretentious meal try Cobb and Co. The Vine has a vast range of goodies. The Indian restaurants are all good.

1-2 days maximum is more than enough. Food their is great and beautiful coffee, but do keep in mind everything is expensive as it is a tourist spot. Otherwise great location to visit. I visited Huka falls and Wairakei terrace hot pools which was an amazing experience.

Was not in Taupo long but what I saw looked good. Smaller town with a nice atmosphere. Plenty of places to eat, things to see and do. Getting around Taupo in peak hours is a challenge so time your travel.

We just wanted the best affordable accommodation as we were passing through to spend the day with family then returned again the next night. Loved having a comfortable and spacious hotel type room to relax in after a long drive.

We done the bungy, was our first time definitely recommend stepping outside your comfort zone to give it a go,
And we attended a event at the taupo motorsport park
Definitely 2 things to have a look at
Fantastic location, only 5 minutes walk into the centre of Taupo. The motel was across the road from Lake Taupo with plenty of off road parking. The room was modern with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. There was outside space to sit and have coffee and a lovely kitchen area with ample equipment. The couple who ran it were really lovely and when I left my travel wallet they checked everywhere and eventually found it and kept it safe until I returned to collect it.
Super friendly staff -- the owners run the place themselves -- and a delightful garden with space aplenty for all the guests. It's one block from the shore of Lake Taupo. The presence of geothermal hot water means that rooms have a spigot to their own quickly-filled patio hot tubs, which is an amenity like few I've ever encountered. The building itself is older and a bit creaky, but even that has its charm.
The location of this hotel is excellent. It is located at the lake front, 2 km from the city centre. The room is on the ground floor, only have to open the patio door, you can step out to the lakeside. It has a great view at the sunset.
The room service was good, both staff who delivered the meal were very polite and the service from the kitchen was very quick. The foods were very good.
Great location for what we were in Taupo to do. Parking was off road and secure. Great access to the lake front walking track. View of the lake was obscured but nice. Pillows in the rooms were amazing and so comfortable. Great air conditioning in the room, which was definitely needed on this trip. Two bathrooms was great to accommodate different family members getting ready at the same time.
Three bedroom apartment perfect for ourselves, two sons plus partners and one baby. Facilities were excellent allowing us to cook and eat all meals in apartment. Wonderful views across Lake Taupo to distant mountains from balcony where we ate most meals. Pool area with adjacent sauna was great and well used by all. Didn't really explore other hotel facilities.
Very impressed with the room nice and tidy and clean. We arrived late from a long drive and just wanted a nice hot shower and to relax. The shower was great good pressure and the bonus was a washing machine and dryer. Will definitely be back to stay when we are in Taupo and would definitely recommend eMotel to whānau and friends
Our first time stay at Beechtree. We have stayed at a number of Taupo motels and also resort hotels. over the years, and although only needing a room en-route to an event in Auckland, we were really pleased with the whole facility. We will definitely recommend BeechTree to our friends who also travel frequently through Taupo
We were cordially welcomed by the owners and given free choice of the available apartments. The view over the wonderful garden onto Lake Taupo was stunning, numerous wild birds inhabit the lovely place.
Thanks to the detailed recommendations by the owners, we were able to make most of our stay, including a dip into the lake.
It was just steps from Lake Taupō, kitchenette, great A/C; we had The Nook (smallest unit in the corner but perfect size for two), free washer/$2 dryer, free ice just steps from our door. Very clean, sofa, small kitchen table/chairs, good value. Kayaks and bikes available to rent on property.
The staff was super friendly and kind. The room was huge and very very clean. We had a room with spa bath which was great too! I was surprised that all the beds had an electric blankets. Everything you want was there!
I will definitely go back when I stay at Taupo. Thank you!!
It is across the road from Lake Taupō, and could be seen from the warm pool and spa. After my stay, I had planned to visit my friend in Taupō but because of the Auckland floods she couldn't make it back in time. The motel owner allowed me to stay the extra night for free.
Very nice property across the street from Lake Taupo. The staff was friendly and helpful and provided nice little extras like biscuits and milk to go with all the coffee and tea options. The location was perfect. I wish we had more than one night there.
The location of this hotel is perfect! It's a very central location in Taupo. The staff were amazing and very friendly and we were upgraded to family suite free of charge. The facilities were clean and in working condition.
Very friendly Staff helped with our luggage up stairs. Lovely location and views to lakes. Enjoyed evening walks along lakefront. Our home away from home when we visit Taupo in future in a very comfortable unit.
Beautiful view of Lake Taupo and well apportioned room. Has a great hot tub area, though we did not get a chance to use it. The room also came with a balcony and lovely spot to relax with the great view.
Good location in Taupo for our transiting in our journey. Room size we booked is enough for a family of 4. Heater in the room is OK for the night which outside temperature was around 10 degree.
Very good location, very handy to the lakefront pathway and large reserve, close to the highway but far enough away not to hear it. Just a 10 minute drive into the centre of Taupo.
Great location near a natural hot spring, cheap for Taupo. Also some cool history, although you have to go looking for the information! And has aircon.
