small and intimate property. rooms are beautifully decorated with local fabrics. spacious room with great storage for all my luggage, clothing and purchases. separate toilet. shower was hot with great water pressure. the outdoor sitting areas were comfortable and provided enough privacy when needed. open air dining was a delight both day and night. pool was refreshing and clean. the landscaping was absolutely stunning! But the BEST part of my stay: the incomparable hospitality of my hosts, Jean-Pierre and Veronique. I have never felt so well taken care of and in such capable hands anywhere else in the world that I’ve traveled to. JP and Vero are more than great hosts, they are great people to know and learn from. Genuine, warm, and full of insider knowledge about the area, the language, the culture and the local activities and attractions. JP and Vero helped me find everything I needed in / around Ngaparou from food to excursions to shopping. They helped me avoid tourist traps and even negotiated fair prices for tours, drivers, purchases and more. JP is a great guide and driver as well! I felt so safe on the often treacherous roads with him behind the wheel. Vero and I share a love of books and wax fabrics - I even got to visit a local nursery she volunteers at… a heart-filling experience that I will never forget! I felt so lucky to spend my birthday with these 2 wonderful people. I now think of them more as friends than as hosts. Much love and many thanks to them both!

The staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. A lovely courtyard overlooking the harbor, overall a great view and location. Though mosquitos were very few, new netting over the bed was appreciated

The owner and the personnel are very nice and kind and their service is impeccable. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious!

The place is like a Art gallery!! we love the African details of the decoration. The room with air conditioning and glass windows. The attention of the girls is amazing!! really, really nice people. The breakfast is included and was so good. Oumar has a gorgeous place in the Island of Goree. Must visit!!

Nafi was warm and accommodating, her home and garden are gorgeous and peaceful, and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The location was easy to find and Nafi even found and greeted us on our walk to make sure we didn't get lost, and it is only a few minutes to walk to any part of the island. The home is right on the water and is surrounded by her incredible garden, and her family is friendly and excellent hosts. I wish I could have stayed longer!

My wife and I have been blessed to have had beautiful and zen-like experiences on Goree Island since the late 1980s. Our most recent and memorable stay(s) at the Principaute reminds us of Maryse Conde’s work Segu, as attention to detail and thoughtfulness have united cultures, continents, and centuries. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the upstairs veranda and being able to take in the full view of the sunrise between the gently swaying palm trees and witness the morning commuters disembark the ferry as we dined on fresh croissants, mango juice, yogurt, fruit, and several cups of coffee.
