Loved the location, Lao Chai is less commercial than Ta Van and feels more like an authentic H’mong Black village, spreading wide across the valley. The homestay is a newly built, large wooden building with good size rooms, one toilet and one shower room. The owner Chu keeps his homestay very clean and cooks wonderful food. According to the local custom, Chu also offers the local rice liquor which has been a much welcomed extra! I highly recommend this homestay, great hikes with local guides. Thank you Chu for your kind hospitality and all your help with transport and recommendations!

The family was super friendly and helpful. We came back at 1AM and they waited up for us before locking the gate. The house was brand new, they had just finished building it not long ago. The room was spotless clean, fully equipped and really warm even though it was 10 degree outside. Thank you so much for a warm and pleasant stay!

New facilities, clean, nice, rooms have balconies and could chat with each other. I traveled with family so we occupied 6 rooms, hotel stuff made a free upgrade for us.

This place is perfect if you are getting the train. I booked a room for the day as I don't like hanging around with my luggage. I took a local bus from Sapa to the station for $1, it was comfortable and clean. They run every half an hour so after checking out from my hotel in Sapa, I got the 11AM bus and checked into the Tokyo at midday. When I told them I would be leaving at 9 that evening they immediately offered to do my laundry for free. The room was large and clean and there are nice restaurants nearby. After lunch I walked along the river bank to the border and rested in my room on return. After dinner I returned to my room, where my laundry was waiting for me and had a shower and got ready for bed. There's a plentiful supply of toiletries including toothbrush kits and a razor, so you don't have to unpack anything if you don't want to. At 9 I strolled 4 minutes straight up the road and onto the waiting train. Perfect. Having saved on the cheap bus and also on laundry, my room cost the same as one coffee in a cafe. The family running the hotel were super friendly too. I highly recommend booking a room here before your train back to Hanoi, it's so much better than hanging around and cost effective too.

We were welcomed heartily into the homestay by the family. We were served a home made dinner upon arrival, we just had a 3 hour bike ride from Sapa and the host placed a heating lamp in our room. If you want an authentic feel of life here and are planning to go to the Bac Ha market nearby, this is thé place to go. All communications went through Google Translate by the family's oldest son, as they speak no English.
