Boasting a terrace and views of quiet street, Vila Ana is an apartment set in a historic building in Štanjel, 25 km from Trieste Train Station. Small and modern apartment equipped with kitchenette. Perfect for a short stay. Restaurants were closed on the day we were there but we could easily cook something at the apartment and eat in the nice terrace.

Offering garden views, Škerlj Wine Estate is an accommodation located in Tomaj, 17 km from Trieste Train Station and 18 km from Piazza Unità d'Italia. Just stunning. Hosts couldn’t have been more lovely. Gorgeous view, quiet, yet conveniently located, super clean.

Set within 26 km of Piazza Unità d'Italia and 26 km of Trieste Port in Štanjel, Apartmaji in sobe Odlična hiša Štanjel offers accommodation with seating area. The host was amazing. It also provided a baby cot, free of charge.

Boasting garden views, Prenočišča Iris offers accommodation with balcony, around 20 km from The Škocjan Caves. There is a private entrance at the apartment for the convenience of those who stay. Super clean and comfortable mini apartment right on top of a hill. The owner is kind and easy going, everything was perfect. Strongly recommended

Boasting accommodation with a terrace, Apartma Furlan is situated in Štanjel. The property is around 26 km from Piazza Unità d'Italia, 26 km from Trieste Port and 27 km from San Giusto Castle. The apartment was clean and quiet. We slept so well. I used WhatsApp to communicate with the host and they were welcoming and kind. The free parking and ability to view the beautiful city from the terrace and then walk up in 10min was perfect!

Set within 8.5 km of The Škocjan Caves and 15 km of San Giusto Castle, Casa Krasna Gourmet Boutique Hotel offers rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Lokev. This really is a boutique hotel and is located in the quiet village of Lokev, but close to Trieste and to the Škocjan Caves, which was our primary destination. Lokev is small and quiet, but close to Divača where there is a train station and other services. The owners, Dajana and Boris, are two of the most delightful hosts we have ever met. And the chef prepares gourmet dinners that are a true highlight. The facility was well designed and spotless. The beds were really great and the bath was superb.

Located in Divača and only 4 km from The Škocjan Caves, Homestead Vrbin provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. There was breakfast there in the morning. It was very good. Typical Slovenian breakfast. There was also a restaurant there in the evening so if you didn't want to go out you could eat there.

Featuring a sauna and a garden with an outdoor pool, Guesthouse Pri Mihelovih enjoys a quiet rural location a 10-minute drive from the Škocjan Caves and 13 minutes by car from the Lipica Stud. Location was easy to find with a car, owner welcomed us warmly and was super helpful with information on the area with lots of printed information in different languages. The bedroom although not large was very comfortable and quiet and had everything we needed. Breakfast was absolutely outstanding with multiple choices and the owner provided free of charge tea and coffee and home made cookies or pastries at any time. She chatted to each guest and made us all feel so welcome. Pri Mehilovih is close to many local attractions including Lipica, Skocjan Caves, the ancient church in Hrastovlje and the coastal towns of Piran & Koper. We definitely recommend Pri Mehilovih as a wonderful place to stay to explore the surrounding area and we would happily return. We arrived about 8pm, very tired from our travels, and the owner immediately asked if we had dined. She suggested we visit the restaurant (it's the only one) in the village, Gostilna Pri Hribu, which served the best meal we had in Slovenia. So wonderful to dine under the grape vines with a friendly owner, full of stories, who ensured we enjoyed the meal and the local wine. Do try the stuffed squid and the seafood or meat appertizers! Fantastic and definitely recommended when staying at Pri Mehilovih.
