Mostar is a captivating city that embodies a unique blend of historical gravitas and scenic charm, making it a must-visit destination in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nestled along the picturesque Neretva River, the city is famed for its iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), a stunning example of Islamic architecture in the Balkans and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This historic bridge, beautifully reconstructed after the war, provides a symbolic connection between the city's diverse cultural and religious communities.
Visitors can explore the cobbled streets of the Old Bazaar, where traditional craft shops and quaint cafes offer a taste of local life and hospitality. The Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque is another highlight, offering panoramic views of the city from its minaret. Also FORTICA is the best place to see Mostar from the hill, highly recommend take taxi 1km per Kilometre… ask driver for pick up later or walk down.
Mostar also serves as a gateway to explore the region's natural beauty. Nearby attractions include the emerald waters of the Kravica Waterfall and the serene Blagaj Tekija, a Dervish monastery nestled against a cliff beside the Buna River, which is perfect for a peaceful afternoon outing and Pocitelj ahistorical place!
With its rich history, stunning architecture, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, Mostar is truly a jewel worth exploring. Each corner of the city offers new delights and a chance to step back in time while enjoying the vibrant local culture.
Best place to eat and value for money:
- Cernica chevabdzinca, (a hidden gem) mix grill platter 40km in Cernica street, also Rodjeni Pie shop.
- Best Pizza (cappricioza my fav) in Nidze Veze in Boulevar opposite the Catholic church.
- Asdzinica Saraj by the Karadzozbeg Mosque, best to eat early between 10-12am, best traditional food reasonable prices
Malta - outside Mostar on the way to Blagaj fabulous food reasonable priced

Even in spring, the famous bridge attracts an awful lot of tourists in the day and early evening, so do bear this in mind and be patient. However it is definitely worth seeing (best from the river) and if the weather is good do wait for the locals jumping off the bridge - this takes place about every 30-minutes. If you're on the bridge the divers may ask if can make a contribution. don't overlook the rest of the town and you can still see traces of the civil war if you walk further out. Sadly, someone removed the Bruce Lee statue, only the pedestal remains. Highly recommend train journey between Mostar and Sarajevo.

This is a great small town with lots of things to do, whether it is exploring the old town or hiking on of the several hills nearby. The food is amazing and affordable. And one of the hills, Fortica, has a great observation deck and a zipline. But keep in mind, that lots of places are closed on Sundays.

24 hours is about right if you get there in the morning. This way, you can see the Old Town in the morning, sunset and after dark. Most tourists left by late afternoon, so it was nice to walk around with less of a crowd.

City with a great atmosphere, and lots of things to see and do, including seeing historical buildings and architecture, visiting museums, going to religious sites, admiring nature, shopping for souvenirs, etc. Had no problem finding a good place to eat - I went to Food House Mostar and had coffee in Coffee Factory. Most of the spots in Mostar can be reached on foot. Plenty of fun activities: sightseeing, hiking, going to museums, eating out, and shopping.
This was a brilliant find in Bosnia. The location was perfect, just a few minutes' walk from the Mostar Bridge, and we really appreciated the on-site parking given how crowded the street parking was. The hotel manager even came out and helped guide us back into the parking space while it was raining! He also allowed us to keep our car there for a few hours after checking out. Our room was modern and spacious, and breakfast had a good range of buffet options as well as delicious scrambled eggs made to order. Would definitely recommend!
the location is perfect giving the fact that you are in a heritage location and unisco. old and center. unfortunately the directions to the hotel wasn’t clear. my booking was river view, and I was giving a river sound only ! there no way that was a river view I only can hear the sound but can’t see the river not to mention that I was checked in a room that smells like an ashtray! it was disgusting at all cost and reminded me with us motels. on the other hand the staff are very nice and helpful
The location was good for us on a one night stay. It’s is an easy 10 min walk to Mostar train/ bus stations. Hotel is classical in style and appears well maintained and updated. Room was quite large with a nice view of the river. Beds were comfortable and A/C was very efficient even during the current heat wave. Breakfast was excellent with both continental and hot offerings! Staff was courteous and helpful. Best of all the price was very moderate.
The nicest host you could meet , super Bosnian mama . Really clean , great facilities & a very mixed international crowd of customers .train & bus station are 3 minutes away . And if you walk with purpose , the old bridge in 15 minutes away . But mostar has a lot more to offer than just the rebuilt historical bridge . Travelled a lot , this feels like a " boutique hostel " honestly . Book & enjoy .
Perfect location to visit Mostar on foot. Park your car and explore on foot the beautiful reborn town of Mostar after it was totally destroyed by the Yugoslavian wars. It brings hope that current countries being attacked and destroyed will be reborn as beautiful if not more beautiful than they were. Recommend to visit the Museum of Genocide, just a couple minutes away from the hotel.
We arrived in Mostar not knowing what to expect, being our first time in Bosnia. We were greeted with super friendly and welcoming staff and lovely accommodation. Everything was explained clearly (eg where to park and the cost). The location of the property cannot be faulted. It is right in the middle of old town, with multiple access points. The room was spacious and comfortable.
A great experience at the Shangri La Mansion hotel in Mostar. The hotel staff were very helpful, for example helping me with parking the car. Very friendly and considerate of guests needs. The breakfast was also excellent.
Also convenient located a short walk to the main part of Mostar. Highly reccommend Shangri La Mansion if you plan to visit the beautiful Mostar city in Bosnia!
Well located flat and the directions provided by the host to get there are really clear.
Thank you @Amina for being very welcoming during our short stay and helping us booking tours to visit Mostar area.
The flat is approx. 15 min from historic city center and 5 min from bus and train station (very convenient if you do not have a car), I recommend
It is good value for the money
The property was ideally located on the edge of the old town yet remained secluded and peaceful. Our room was spacious with an excellent view. breakfast was very good. We were particularly impressed by the duty manager who was extremely helpful, even securing us a booking at our next destination when we thought the hotel was fully booked.
The location is great, near the old town and mostar bridge. The place is perfect for a few nights and the hosts were always there to assist us. They even offered us watermelon at arrival and bosnian coffee before leaving. I fully reccommend it, if you are looking for a cheap, clean and simple place to sleep!
This was a well-located hotel just a short walk away from the Old Bridge in Mostar and right in the middle of a neat area of shops and restaurants. A perfectly adequate hotel with an attentive staff and a marvelous 32 course (approximately) breakfast experience complete with Turkish-style coffee.
The place was awesome with up to date technologies and comfort. It offered way more comfort for a cheaper price than what you find at a regular Hotel room. Safe for cars with an underground garage. I would highly recommend this place and would stay again when I visit Mostar. Thank you. ❤️
The location of this hotel is superb. In addition, the staff are all incredibly friendly, very attentive and the rooms themselves are cozy and very nice. We also really loved the terrace and the breakfast in the morning. Overall, it was a lovely time in Mostar!
Nice hotel near a Mostar old town. It has safe underground parking for you car or motorbikes. Quite noisy neighborhood, but it's just in summer, when you leave open windows at night. Breakfast was ok, they serve few types of deserts for breakfast.
The location of the hotel is just 5 minutes away from the bus station, it is a good choice if you arrive the city at night like I do. The host will ask your arrival time and prepare your check in and arrangement.
Everything was wonderful. The staff is very helpful, she did great help for us. The room is clean and large. The location is perfect, just a short walk to old town. I strongly suggest Hotel Sinan Han in Mostar.
This hotel allows pets, that is awesome for Sarajevo because almost all hotels deny our booking when we say that we have a dog. The location is great, right in the city center. Room was very cozy and clean.
Excellently positioned - easy few minutes long walk to the Old town and to the Mepas mall. Amazing view of Mostar (apartment is located on the 3rd floor). Kind host and beautifully designed apartment.
Great hotel if you want to visit Mostar old town (few minutes walk). Very good services and great staff, good breakfast included. Great price considering the location and the services proposed.
I believe it is the only hotel in Mostar with a pool, albeit small. We liked the roof terrace views. Close to the town, walking distance to the bridge and restaurants.
