The most convenient airport for both domestic and international travellers to reach Valparaíso, Chile is Santiago's Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, due to its numerous flight options. It's approximately 115km away from Valparaíso.
Valparaíso, Chile, offers various public transport options. The city's extensive bus network is a cost-effective way to navigate. For shorter distances, shared taxis, known as 'colectivos', are popular. The iconic Ascensores, funiculars, provide a unique way to traverse steep hills. Alternatively, cycling and walking are viable for nearby attractions. Always verify routes and schedules.
Cerro Alegre and Concepción are popular areas in Valparaíso, Chile, known for their vibrant street art, historic architecture, and local eateries. These neighbourhoods are conveniently located near the city centre, making them ideal for visitors.
Valparaiso is a lovely artistic town. We enjoyed our day there. The area of Valparaiso we stay in was very walkable, although you can call for a cab for going further out. We enjoyed our stay at Casa California and the area around it. We ate at a little Cafe, Maria, Maria for breakfast on Beethoven Street, just a few hundred feet from Casa California. And you can take photos of the piano steps and walk up them. We had dinner at a bar and restaurant just up the hill and around the corner, a block or so over. We also had dessert at a cafe across the road from there.

The guide books are not cortect regarding the preservation of architecture in the lower area, but areas as Concepcion are great. Take the opportunity to visit Vina del Mar and make reflections.

Valparaiso is a vibrant colorful mountainous coastal town which we really enjoyed. There were several hillside dining options with fantastic views of the port town. Color murals painted on the buildings and walkways throughout town were fantastic, and added to the overall vibe of the city.

Cool city with an artistic vibe, lots of street art, young and older music artists etc.
Had a guided tour around and would recommend that to get a full view of the old-part of the city.
Also check out the live-music scene, had a great experience going out to their live-music bars/ open mic gig and it was high level.
I did not experience any bad, but they say don’t go alone home at night, it can be a problem with theft.

Not much to see, just quite a lot of beatiful grafiti, some vintage "ascensors". Beaches are quite far away.
But the city itself is downright filthy and not very safe. Many locals told us. Some MF took my girlfriend's cell phone and ran away. I chased him and got the phone back, but when I caught him he reached under the t-shirt probably holding a gun. I only had a knife so I gave up my vengeance. Be very careful even during the day!

Valparaíso is a beautiful place with very nice streets with loads of art. It’s has also nice beaches quite close. If you enjoy being on a beach a few days, it’s a good place for a few days more. If you don’t like to spend days at the beach, 2 days are enough, in my opinion.
The Restaurant „la casa verde“ was my favorite restaurant. The food and the pisco sour have been very delicious and the staff was very kind.
Beautiful terrace on the top floor of the hotel, perfect for a drink at the end of a long day’s walk to watch the sun set. The history of the hotel was evident in every detail and made our stay all the more interesting. The guide books say one day/night is all you need in Valparaiso, but with accommodation like this, it’s definitely worth staying two nights. So many beautiful cafes nearby, so little time. Highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight.
This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The room was clean and comfortable and we upgraded to room 6 which had a stunning view of the bay. The folks working at the hotel were so kind and helpful. They helped to arrange an early breakfast (which was great!) to accommodate our departure and also helped arrange private transport to the airport which alleviated some stress for us. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Great apartment for Valparaiso - very well located above the main area. The apartment was a good size with all necessary facilities. Good wifi, reasonably comfortably bed and underground parking. There was a washing machine in the complex ($1500/1.5USD). Eve, the owner, was great and really helpful - a really nice and kind person. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would be happy to stay in the apartment again.
The hotel is beautiful - artistic and unique. The decor details in our room were delightful - colorful furnishings, comfortable beds, huge kitchen island with a full fridge "mini bar" with wine, water and snacks, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking Valparaiso city lights and bay. Rooftop restaurant has more spectacular views, great service and superb breakfast.
The room was delightful, the hotel is okay. The staff was excellent and helped tremendously with great information. The location is far away from everything else, though, so tough to get food or buy toiletries or whatever. The view of Valparaiso is amazing from the hotel, though. The hotel room was in my opinion overpriced.
What an eclectic & wonderful hotel! Quirky but fantastic - everything worked well and it was a truly magnificent place to stay.
The restaurant in the evening was simply brilliant - the set menu and Happy Hour cocktails were the best we’ve had in Chile.
Don’t miss out on- book a room.
Great location, close to beautiful streetart and nice restaurants and cafes. Rene is a wonderful host, he will make you a great breakfast, has a lot of recommendations about the area and can tell you anything you want to know about Chile. Would highly recommend to stay here.
1) Pascal! He is an amazing and honest host. Gave great recommendations for restaurants.
2) Location! Valparaiso is built on 43 hills which means a lot of uphill walking. Fortunately, Val Paradou is located towards the bottom with only 2 or 3 hills to climb.
Boutique hotel located in the historical centre of Valparaiso. Close to many good restaurants. Room was large and bed comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. And breakfast was delicious! (pancake with milk caramel, scrambled eggs sandwitch etc)
It’s a house full of art and it offers kind of a genuine Valparaiso experience (what is something that, unfortunately, I didn’t like that much). The room specifically was clean (but with some dust) and it’s comfortable.
best hotel in Valparaiso, pay up for the top floor room with ocean view as the view is so worth it and you won’t need to go to any of the restaurants that boast great views. Lovely breakfast and Pilar is great!
This place is a piece of paradise in Valparaiso. The hosts are just amazing. They are keeping this place so clean, quiet, cozy and the garden is just lovely. My stay at this hotel left warmest memories.
Great staff and Clean facilities! The hotel is reopening and is a great choice for a stay in Valparaiso. It is located steps from Plaza Sotomayor and within walking distance from many local attractions.
Lovely small boutique hotel. Wonderful spaces for relaxing. Amazing roof top view! Clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff! Would definitely stay here again!
