Very good breakfast, although I did feel a little rushed as it was filling up quite quick and the staff were running out of spaces. But all good in general.

Amberley is a beautiful hotel in lovely grounds in a very pretty village. The service is fantastic and the rooms are lovely. The food is perfection, so although it’s very expensive, it is a real treat. I only have one word of advice. If you value your privacy in the lavatory, do not book Winchelsea room as there is no door between the bedroom and the bathroom. I have no idea why that is.

Amazingly beautiful village with wonderfully maintained gardens and thatched roofs, felt like a film set. Great stopping point on South Downs Way, with couple of pubs and the castle that does afternoon teas and fine dining.

    Pricey for what you get.

Pricey for what you get. Just because it's in a castle doesn't mean the rate should be so high, especially if they aren't offering anything 'special. Small room, no water pressure, sparce. But bed comfy and nice staff.

There is a lovely tea room in the village- the owner's daughter is a great baker, The village ship has wonderful bread delivered so if you are there Saturday morning go there. Very friendly and helpful. Nice pub and a little pottery with a small selection of items. The village is gorgeous and is worth a walk. 12th-century church is open to visitors.

Location is absolutely amazing, landscaping perfect and general atmosphere is great. It is exactly what it promises, you stay in a real castle and it is absolutely gorgeous. Amberley village is worth visiting too, there is a pottery shop, beautiful old church and a nice pub. Generously sized rooms and very well-designed bathrooms. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner are all very good. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, coming for a meal is definitely worth it, specially if weather is good and you can sit in the garden.

Gorgeous place. Had a lot of great amenities. Location however if you don't drive it's difficult and expensive to get taxis. The castle should have their own taxi for instances like this. Food was great. However, during our dinner courses the rabbit had a bone in it. For as expensive as our dinner was the food should have been tended to a bit more carefully. Very disappointed with that. The pillows on the bed could have been a bit better. They were flat and uncomfortable.

The property is beautiful. The grounds have lovely flowers everywhere and are very well maintained. The buildings are interesting and comfortable. The doves that live in the castle walls are fun to watch and add a bit of fairytale to the experience. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel but had a wonderful dinner in the town at the Black House. (Highly recommend it.) Breakfast at the castle was great with options that made everyone happy.

Emma is a brilliant host, very welcoming and friendly. The property is gorgeous, just what we wanted for our girlie weekend. The hot tub is lush and we stayed in it most of the time! Amberley itself is a delight and worth a visit to the tea rooms and the shop. Dinner at the Black Horse was nice but very hot in the pub itself and sadly the beer garden wasn't open. All in all a perfect weekend and would highly recommend.

We were staying at the Black Horse for a wedding in the local area. The hotel was excellent, stylishly decorated and situated in the really pretty village of Amberley. We had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant, the food was fantastic. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for visiting Arundel and the surrounding countryside. We would thoroughly recommend the Black Horse!

This place is absolutely stunning, we had an amazing time, room was large enough to accommodate 3 guests (we came with our 6 year old son). Gardens are very beautiful and you can even see white peacocks there. Staff was very friendly and food in the restaurant was delicious. Amberley village is worth visiting too. I definitely recommend this place, what a great experience worth every penny!

The restaurant is exceptionally good - we had been there twice before, and we decided to stay at the hotel this time when we visited the area. The atmosphere in the pub/hotel is very nice - the staff is friendly and helpful, there is a restaurant, bar and a garden. The scenery in Amberley / South Downs national park is very beautiful, we enjoyed our stay a lot.

Great country pub with excellent food, comfortable rooms and first class staff. Breakfasts were a particular highlight with a wide choice of individually cooked plates. Rooms were warm with a well appointed bathroom. It's a dog friendly hotel which is a real plus as there is loads of good walking on the South Downs straight from the door of the pub.

gorgeous property, in lovely and charming location. easy drive from London Gatwick. Very walkable property! Big shout out to Pierce at the front desk who was wonderfully accommodating to my husband and I when we arrived a tad early. He went above and beyond when my husband injured his ankle in route to the hotel. He is a total gem of a human!

In theory the location of this lovely looking and very quirky old cottage is great, close to the train station, a great pub and the Amberley museum. The booking process was fine, the hosts responded quickly to queries and questions and they returned the security deposit promptly and without fuss.

The hotel itself was lovely, as expected but what made our stay so special were the staff - they pulled off the perfect mix of being charmingly personable while also courteously professional. We’d recommended it highly and will definitely return. Thank you.
