Monument Valley is an awesome place.
Monument Valley is an awesome place. We took the tribal sunrise tour and I highly recommend it! We were planning to take the stargazing tour but it was cloudy, so they offered the sunrise tour or a reschedule in it's place. They also offered a refund, so I really appreciated the options..

Mainly a passing town and not worth a night as the hotel prices are pretty steep. Less food choices as well. One way to see this place is arrive in the morning and leave by late afternoon. A few hours is what you need.

Great spot for a tour both a guided and a self guided if you have time. Just prepare for the weather if you are doing a tour on an open bus! Great Navajo guides and a great opportunity to learn more about Native American people.

in order to best take in the valley - I would give yourself a full day to do the scenic drive within the park, and check out some of the other scenic spots nearby. The scenic drive is only available for a short window mid day so plan accordingly. the formations and local pride in the area is very memorable.

The amount of construction around the scenic areas is shocking. I never expected Monument Valley to be in the middle of housing. It was a very sad thing to see. I guess it's the smell of money that changed Monument Valley into a kind of Disneyland. Based on what I saw, I would not make a detour.

Monument Valley is to be experienced!
Monument Valley is to be experienced! We both drove it ourselves and took a tour. I would highly recommend MV Dineh Rebekah (SP?) Cultural Tour which took us behind public areas and we had the attention of a Dineh Guide. It was magical.

We had a king suite with a kitchenette (a little cottage) because we booked last minute. The unit was quite comfortable with 2 beds, a comfortable living room, bathroom, etc. It was also easy to walk outside to watch sunrise over Monument Valley.
We ate dinner in the restaurant at the resort. Our food (BBQ half chicken with pilaf and vegetables was good an reasonably priced, especially since there aren't other food options nearby.
The resort is a nice place to stay if you can't book the View Lodge.
We loved it all: the historical hotel, the view, the cozy cabin we stayed at, for all the 3 nights, with its own kitchen and a porch included. The grocery store on the site, the museum, and the whole valley with its unique history and presence. The silence and the atmosphere of the off season. Some occasionally falling snow and rain just added to the beaty of the surrounding nature.
Fantastic location. View over monument valley from our balcony on 2nd floor. Comfortable beds with all necessary facilities. Good pod coffee machine. Ample parking near room.
Interesting museum on site with lots of history of the area.
Tour through valley with Navajo guide was very good, Bruce had lots of local knowledge and amusing commentary.
It was well located for a visit to Monument Valley. It was a spacious unit, with a kitchenette and a separate bedroom, a little away from the reception, swimming pool and dining room, but that worked ok. We also did a Gouldings tour with a local Navajo guide, which was excellent.
Great views of monument valley. The hotel as a fun resort-y vibe to it, with a dining hall, movie theater showing old westerns, and a couple of stores including a grocery store. Basically exactly the right amount of cheesiness you want when staying out in Monument Vally :).
The view over part of the north bit of Monument Valley was excellent. Monument Valley Tribal Park itself was a small 10 minute drive. The room was clean and spaceous. It had a swimming pool. The balcony was very good. It had a small supermarket shop with alot of choice.
Our stay was great - check in was smooth, parking was available, and we had the most outstanding view of Monument Valley from our hotel room. Although breakfast isn't provided with the room, the Stagecoach Restaurant is good and only a few steps away from the hotel.
It was great to have a little cottage of our own with a complete kitchen. It was great to be able to see monument valley from the kitchen window. We were off season, so everything was quiet and pleasant during our stay, although a bit cold outside.
Located nearby monument valley with some nice views, room was nice but not very spacious compared to the price we payed. It's an ok alternative compared to the view hotel. Pool was very nice, and restaurant was great.
The view ! Fantastic, that alone made it worth the trip. Hotel staff was nice. Pool is a great plus after driving or walking around all day. There is also a small cinema and movie decor, which is great.
