I just loved Oakland!the city has a bad reputation and that is farthest from the truth!first of all,EVERY city has a bad part of town where crime occurs maybe more than other parts of the city! I talked with dozens of people from there who were very personable;helpful; friendly everyone was awesome!!loved Oakland!!

We like to see shows at the Fox Theater, and when we do, we stay at the Moxy hotel and walk there. There are several great eateries in the neighborhood. I recommend HotBird if you like fried chicken! We have never felt unsafe walking this neighborhood. There are a lot of homeless people, which is sad to see.

Oakland is a unique diverse town full of so many different types of cool cultures. I like the culture from The East, West and the North because each area has a different flavor or style to add to the town. There is one thing that bothers me. The homeless crisis is excessive. Affordable housing especially to born and raised in Oakland individuals are housed after out of towers. The majority of Oakland's employers are not even from Oakland. It would be nice to allow Oakland to return to Oakland and allow only Oakland to accommodate it's visitors instead of our visitors becoming our hosts in our own Town and selling our products back to us, ITS A STEAL before our eyes .

Oakland has a high population of homeless people I wasn't aware of. Some areas were better than other but every where you looked was broke down cars with broken widows and tagged on, along with trash everywhere, homeless people and tagging everywhere .
Maybe it's just the area I ended up at, hoping there's more than what I seen.!!!

I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I will not recommend San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle nor Vancouver.
These places used to have terrific live music, comedy, food, safe walkable neighborhoods and scenery at prices that were justified but the homelessness, filth, gunfire and in-your-face politics make it less enjoyable.
I would sooner go to a smaller city like Salt Lake, Cleveland, Tacoma, Richmond now. Some of those places have some of the same challenges but the prices will be lower and you can enjoy yourself without as much filth and less political distraction.
I've stayed here in the past month and received a room with a view of the Oakland span of the bay bridge which was cool given that the hotel is pretty deep into downtown Oakland.
The staff are pretty chill. and the vibe in the lobby is what you would expect at a neighborhood bar not a hotel.
The staff dress in plain clothes so it's hard to tell if someone works there but it makes for a very relaxed check in experience.
Don't expect the formalities of brand name hotels.
Awesome location, helpful staff, and the food from the restaurant is good. I really appreciate being able to check-in at 7:00 in the morning; it was a life-saver after a very long-haul flight. One of the BART entries is literally a 1-minute walk from the lobby. There are many authentic Asian restaurants around the neighborhood, as well as some very nice coffee shops near the hotel. For non-U.S. travellers, there was no hidden fee (e.g., resort fee) in my invoice.
We stayed here after flying into Oakland, as we were leaving for Monterey the next day. I used to work in the area, so thought it would be fun to stay there. The hotel is older, so has character. The beds were comfy and the AC/fan worked and was not too noisy. They provide breakfast. The staff were nice and helpful. I think the price for the hotel is fair, given the Bay Area is expensive in general.
Friendly, courteous staff. Room quiet, clean, very comfortable. Free breakfast, and airport shuttle. We've stayed at almost every other place in the area and this, though slightly higher priced was well worth it. We will defiantly stay there when we fly out of Oakland.
As in Oakland native I come here a lot when I need peace to relax. I like being around the lake Merritt area and I think it's a good idea to get a room in this area time to time it's very quiet here. The staff is very nice. I love getting a good night's sleep here.
Breakfast was very good. 24 hour coffee/hot chocolate in lobby. Hotel and grounds very clean. Good indoor pool and hot tub. Good staff. The area outside the property very dirty. Streets were full of litter. Short distance from airport and Oakland Collesium.
The location is very ideal for people wanting to spend time in the downtown area. We only just needed the hotel for a night because we were passing through. Parking was affordable (only $10 a night) & it is a pet friendly hotel which is always a plus.
Surprisingly clean for an economic airport hotel in that location. We were pleasantly surprised and decided to stay there on our flight out as well. Will for sure stay there for airport overnights whenever we fly through OAK again.
It had a really nice and clean facility. I was very satisfied with the cozy atmosphere around the house. It has a good neighborhood. I feeled like the hotel gave us a careful consideration.
The hotel is in the nice part of Oakland, by the bay, with many restaurants in the area. It is actually walkable from a BART station, so we stayed there to mainly explore San Francisco.
I'm satisfied with this hotel. The room was good, most importantly clean, the breakfast was also acceptable, free parking on site. For the price it's a good hotel.
Wifi was good and the interior cleanliness was good. Key cards seemed more reliable than at other hotels. The amenities provided for the kitchen were good.
