Its a historic town whose glory has now faded.
The Big Hole was definitely worth a visit, but most of the other historic houses and museums that we wanted to visit are closed during the weekend. (so, doesn't make sense for an out of town visitor at all)

People really friendly.
People really friendly. Lots of old buildings which 8s amazing. Roads terrible though but everything else perfect. Great halaal places to eat was Don Boi and Mini Pakistan. Went to see the the Big Hole and learnt some great history. Places are really close to each other and easy to find.

The area around the Big Hole are horribly run down.
The area around the Big Hole are horribly run down. It has wonderful late- Victorian architecture and if the authorities got their act together, it would be a great tourist attraction. The Big Hole museum is well run, but so much more could be done with the once fabulous outdoor museum (replica of the original old town)

The CBD (city centre) was incredibly dirty (litter everywhere) and felt mildly unsafe. This is sadly and unfortunately true of so many towns/cities (both small and large) throughout South Africa these days.
The Big Hole Museum was a surprising breath of fresh air in an otherwise dirty and unwelcoming environment.
The city roads were fairly delipidated, with lots of small potholes. Again, this is simply an indictment of the corrupt and distressingly mismanaged municipalities and local government structures operating throughout South Africa.

Official tourist location are limited to the diamond and war history. There ought to be more local adventures that tourists could participate in; Live music concerts, festivals, interesting spaces to connect with other tourist perhaps.
Had lunch at the Protea Hotel (The Marriot), using a Bolt (Taxify). The drivers are friendly, so are the wait staff.

I work here so me and my partner explored Both Galeshewe and The City trips, Diamond Pavilion and Pass by North Cape Mall and Sol Plaatje University, we’re I work.
We’re both from Mafikeng. He came For Diamond Knights Bikers Charity event.
The location was good. However the bath water was luke-warm and it was extremely cold in Kimberly. I had no interaction with staff other than the owner so I cannot comment on that. It is a nice big property and but it needs a little bit of care. For a self catering apartment it did not have the utensils and crocery needed to make our stay more pleasant. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your facility. this is constructive feedback and in no way negative feedback.
The restaurant was not cheap but the food was excellent. The service was excellent.
The feel of an aristocratic residence with all the style that rich people from years gone by with solid doors and such style. The bathroom was an add on I believe and very modern and very pleasant with warm heater lamps, a very comfy bath and a double shower. I love the idea that the toilet is completely private. We visited that McGregor Museum within walking distance. Worthwhile.
Milner House was a great surprise, it far exceeded expectations and the pictures on the site do not do any justice to this beautiful place. We were pleasantly surprised. Our stay was made more pleasant with your pleasant and helpful staff especially Sharon and her team. Breakfast was OK, there is room for improvement, but no complaints overall. We will definitely keep Milner House in mind the next time we visit Kimberley.
Comfortable and convenient and a bit of history rolled into one. The Half is an institution in Kimberley, and is well worth a stay. The facilities are good and everything is like it should be in a mid range hotel. "The Fat Greek" restaurant is one of three restaurants in the hotel and is excellent!
The hotel is always excellent with large rooms. Little touches are appreciated such as tissues by the bed, water in the fridge and a top sheet. The hotel is on the outskirts of Kimberley, so in the morning one can get straight onto the Cape Town road
All staff were extremely friendly and efficient , dinner was delicious and the included breakfast was exeptional! All breakfast was made fresh and included a lot of little extras that you do not see everyday!
Would definately recommend this Hotel.
The property has all the historic charm of 1895 Kimberley, but it’s definitely been better maintained than the rest of the City in the last century. Breakfast was great, staff were accommodating and helpful and it had all the necessary amenities.
We did not have breakfast at all, because we just wanted to overnight at the hotel. We did not have any water to shower or even brush our thooth. We could not make use of the toilet because of not having water. We weren't alert of the water at all.
The location was very central, and situation on the ridge of the big hole in Kimberley (you can walk to the tour office for the tickets to view this historic site). The facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The room is very spacious and is neat and tidy too
I liked the fact that it's a self catering room
It is an amazing place to visit and I love how affordable it is
I would definitely rent this place if it was possible
Very nice and comfortable stay in an outside room overlooking a well kept swimming pool.
Breakfast was excellent and interesting and a first for us to be offered a South African omlette with biltong and boerewors!
The owner was very accommodating. The unit was very neat and clean. There were emergency lights during load-shedding. There was backup water because Kimberley didn't have water, could take a shower and go on.
The steak i ordered was amazing, the salad was old and crappy but best steak I've had in a very long time! They need to also have a broader drinks selection like the other protea hotels.
