The photos did not do the amazing location justise. Our cottage was spacious, and comforts like under floor heating in the bathroom gave it that extra feeling of being taken care of. The hostess took great care of us and gave wonderful suggestions of restaurants to visit.

McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect houses and lovely places to eat. We loved eating breakfast at 51 and lunch at the Bistro on the main road. Vrolikeid Nature Reserve is a must - a well run and stunningly beautiful hiking spot offering varying length hikes. There's plenty more to do ie. pottery studios, the donkey sanctuary, so will definitely be visiting again!

A small charming village in a lovely setting.

A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

    Small and wonderful village!

Small and wonderful village! I was lucky to stop there for a night and amaze by the village. There’s few bar options, wonderful restaurants (I went to the Fat Lady’s arm after my guest house owner recommended and I was not disappointed! The food was excellent and they had different choices to pleased I believe everyone!) The morning after I was lucky to catch the Saturday morning market. Fantastic!

McGregor is a very small Community.

McGregor is a very small Community. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The only downside is having to travel to Robertson should you require anything from the bigger shops but if you plan well there shouldn't be a need to travel.

We went specifically to visit the Eseltjiesrus Donkey...

We went specifically to visit the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary just outside McGregor. It was amazing. The property is pristine. There is a lovely restaurant, book shop and gift shop. A friendly, knowledgeable guide introduced us to the donkeys. They were beautiful, peaceful and very well cared for. Definitely worth a visit, also an opportunity to adopt one of these incredible animals and make a very worthwhile contribution to donkey welfare in general. We also enjoyed exploring the quaint little village of McGregor.

The accommodation was seperate from the main home and only a 2 min walk to the restaurants which was a bonus. The extra special touches at the accommodation were great and loved the large fluffy towels. The breakfast box was amazing and delivered to our accommodation by Stacey herself. It had warm croissants with egg/bacon, fresh fruit salad, fruit juice, yoghurt/muesli/honey, banana bread, nuts and dried fruit. Overall a wonderful 2 days spent in quaint McGregor and can highly recommend 12 on Tindall for a wonderful stay.

The bean tree is situated in the town, a 2min walking distance from everywhere you want to be. It has a lovely garden and is pet friendly as a bonus. The town offers all from cycling to hiking routes and then let's you enjoy lovely restaurants for breakfast and dining. - don't forget the whiskey bar either. Mc Gregor Wines and Lords also give you the option to visit a wine farm. All this and then you get to go to the bean tree to end your day in comfort & style.

Very quiet, peaceful location within easy walking distance of the main street in the village of McGregor. Safe off-street parking right outside our rooms. Comfortable, clean and very attractive bedrooms. Good bathroom facilities. So much attention has been paid to detail throughout the accommodation. The delicious breakfasts were beautifully presented and delivered to our rooms in baskets. Stacey is a very friendly, kind and helpful host.

We were only going to stay for 2 nights, and we decided to extend our stay with two more. The unit was excellent, just lovely hosts going out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible with loads of recommendations of where to eat and where to go. The unit has absolutely everything you need with extra coffee and rusks brought to us on the 3rd day. This will be my go-to place in McGregor from now on. Didn't want to leave!

To visit the quant village of McGregor, The Grand Marigold is a very good choice. We had the double room with private bathroom. As we were the only guests, we were lucky and could use the shared facilities (kitchen, lounge, terrace and swimming pool) on our own. The terrace and pool are ideal to enjoy the peacefulness of McGregor, the room had all we needed and the hosts are very helpful and welcoming. Certainly recommended.

This well-appointed cottage lies in the heart of a very quaint village. It is superbly designed and furnished. The owners definitely have the comfort of the guests in mind. We arrived on a very hot day. The aircon was a real life-saver and the outdoor shower an added bonus! A perfect location from which to explore McGregor and surrounds.

Our stay at Orchard Cottage felt very private. We loved the two bathrooms. Free wifi that was working. The host did not hold back on coffee, sugar and tea supplies. The house had everything we needed and more for our self catering stay. We want to go back soon. Will highly recommend Orchard Cottage.

Beautiful, comfortable neat and clean little cottage in the heart of McGregor, Gordon was friendly and attentive, he had a fire going on our arrival so that cottage was warm and inviting. The little bowl with chocolate, fudge and pretzels was a lovely added touch of welcome.
