Breakfast was excellent. Room was very well appointed. Although a bit of a distance from the entrance for someone like me who suffers from pulmonary fibrosis.

Lovely feel to the place and everything close by, good cafes, pubs and general shops. Duke's restaurant was very good , just by the hotel. Good cream tea in Mocas on the front . Sheltered by the beautiful cliffs either side of the town so not too windy. Decent bus service from Exeter and the station, although requires two buses. Good children's park in the centre.

Sidmouth is utterly enchanting!
Sidmouth is utterly enchanting! I feel cheated that I didn't know about it before - it's like Bath's seaside cousin! Beautiful architecture, easy to walk around and a simply wonderful cove-shaped seafront with great cliffs at either end. We are planning to stay for a week next time.

Sidmouth is a lovely town.
Sidmouth is a lovely town. Plenty of well known shops to peruse. Plenty of eateries to try out. Lots of hotels of different styles to choose from. Views are fantastic and so is the beach. Fields department store has a wide range of favourite clothing labels to explore & hopefully purchase. A very good bus service can take you to lots of Devon places and further.

Good choice of hotels and good shops in the town if the weather isn't great. (Loads of really good charity shops!)
Not many restaurants are open in the evenings (especially early in the week) so you need to book in advance. Myca, Pea Green Boat and The Loft are all good. Much more choice at lunchtime and good coffee/tea shops with lovely cakes. The Scott cinema and Marine theatre are both sweet and worth a visit.
Buses go to a few places if you don't have a car - and seem to be very reliable.
Jacobs Ladder beach and the Connaught Gardens are well worth visiting and are nicer than the town beach yet still very close to the centre.
Be aware that rocks etc can fall from the cliffs! The Jurassic coastline is amazing but it can crumble suddenly.

Sidmouth was a beautiful little seaside town with plenty of places to eat and drink!
Dog friendly beach in winter and lots of dog-friendly pubs/cafes! Beach is shingle/large pebble so not for everyone, but there’s a promenade/path the whole way along!
Lots of nice little independent shops & charity shops!
Parking gets very busy so you’re better off parking in the ‘weekend and walk’ car park slightly outside town - not far at all!
We visited in February but I’ve been told is gets very busy from May onwards.
There is a folk festival on the first weekend of August every year which I hear is great (but very busy)!
This is a wonderful, traditional hotel, well run by owners and friendly staff. Having afternoon tea on the lawn, sitting on exceptionally comfortable garden furniture, we felt like we’d left the busy world behind and stepped into an oasis of tranquility. Our room was comfortable and very clean. We didn’t eat dinner there but breakfast was good with plenty of choice.
Great location too, just a short stroll through a pretty park takes you into town and then the seafront.
Room described as compact double was perfect for us. Even a partial sea view. A window you can open for fresh air and to hear the waves and smell the sea. Isn't that what you want when you are by the sea. Everything we needed and very comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel. Great quality food and we liked the all the staff we met. Hotel is close to everything you might want to access in Sidmouth.
A beautiful hotel, well-situated for a seaside holiday, with ocean views, the town and beach an easy walk (and a number of exceptional hikes available leaving from the front door), and a delicious breakfast spread every morning as well as cooked-to-order dishes all included in what we felt was a very reasonable price.
Friendly, helpful and professional staff.
We obviously enjoyed our 6-day stay very much.
Thank you
I’ve been to sidmouth many times to visit my grandparents and this time was a bit more difficult but I had the best hotel stay. The property was exceptionally clean, tidy and mark and Jan were amazing hosts, so welcoming and hospitable. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and in a sense a home from home. I’m so grateful for such a lovely stay at such a difficult time for me.
I was travelling alone and had the small single room at the top of the hotel, beautiful space with a lovely view of the bay. Breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Fantastic location on the esplanade, what more could anyone want? If I am ever in Sidmouth on my own again, I will book this single room, it was absolutely delightful!
Huge room, lovely decor, very comfy bed. Appreciated the home made cookies and Nespresso maker.
Huge shower room/ wet room. Good shower. Very nice shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand cream; all for sale in reception.
Great cooked breakfast included.
Really good Sunday roast in the pub restaurant, and no need to book as guests of the hotel.
Very friendly hosts who couldn't do enough. Helped with parking our van and accommodated for early breakfast which was pretty good. The beds were fairly comfortable. We would stay here again if in the area. Great for older people and not for a romantic break. The seaside is at the top of the road and this hotel offers free parking. Free WiFi
Ideally situated, for us, for a stay in Sidmouth. Hotel was a short walk from town .
Lovely room, spacious and clean with comfortable bed.
Staff were really nice , friendly and helpful .
Very good choice at breakfast and cooked breakfast was excellent . We also had an evening meal which was very good and good value for money .
An exceptional boutique-style hotel in a leafy setting on the outskirts of Sidmouth's quaint town centre. The hotel represented good value for money and provided accommodation of the highest calibre. The cooked breakfast was delightful and there was always an offer of further helpings and coffee top-ups.
Sue made us feel very welcome. the room was spacious, comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast each day was exceptional. The location of Buckley Farmhouse is two miles outside of Sidmouth and therefore you are staying in very quiet countryside, no passing traffic or street lighting to keep you awake.
five minutes from the sea front but quiet location. great sleep, spacious room, dog friendly, great swimming pool. super friendly staff providing great service. very tasty food and eager to accommodate various dietary requests. staff went extra mile to cater for our dog as well
Superb location for access to shops, public transport and beach. Excellent value for money given the hotel’s location on the seafront of Sidmouth. A good selection on breakfast menu ranging from fruit/toast to a full blown cooked breakfast.
The staff was lovely and helpful! I am forever indebted to the desk attendant who helped me zip up my dress for the wedding I was attending as I was traveling alone! Breakfast was fantastic and the location in Sidmouth is amazing!
Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent meals. Wonderful view from room. The Decor both in the hotel and room is extremely tasteful. The Hotel is in an excellent location.
Room nice and clean facilities in the room good staff friendly enough breakfast was nice in a good lactation for the beach and shops sidmouth in general a nice place to visit
Location, five minutes over the hill to Sidmouth. The room, big, clean, well stocked, fab shower. Liz, super kind generous host. The breakfast! Amongst the best we ever had.
Dan and Megan where the perfect hosts, excellent breakfast cooked by Dan with their own chicken eggs. This is definately a hotel I would return to time and time again
