We booked this hotel to be close to the train station as we were only staying for 1 night. It was very handy location and ok for the price. The room was clean but everything looks a little tired.

I've stayed in 3 APA hotels (Tokyo Hanzomon, Osaka Namba, and Himeji), this one was by far the best out of them all. The rooms were bigger, there's a dedicated space near the door for hanging clothes and putting your luggage bag, and you get a decent hairdryer.
Being an APA hotel, you get all the other usual bells and whistles: a well-equipped toilet, free TV channels (unlike some hotels that require you to pay), fast internet and comfy beds.
The front desk staff were also friendly and welcoming. The location was great, only a 5-minute walk to Himeji station. Highly recommended.

Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit.
Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit. This is my 3rd or 4th visit. In cherry blossom season, it is nothing short of spectacular. In winter, it's not so green, but the gardens are still worth seeing and wandering through. The castle itself is worth every cent of the entry fee and one could easily spend 2 or more hours exploring all the nooks and crannies before even reaching the 6 floor castle. Climbing to the top is must, but remember you will need to take off your shoes (and the stairs are more like wide rung ladders, so hold onto the rails!
The eateries are also worthwhile visiting, with plenty of choice in the area between the station and the castle. We visited a Vietnamese restaurant at lunchtime - it was huge and totally empty apart from us, and the food was fabulous - we chose banh mi which was just as good as in its' home country.

Loved arriving on the train and as we exited the station in the evening all the Christmas lights on the wide Avenue running straight from station to the lit up Himeji Castle in the distance..just stunning. The castle is amazing and a beautiful garden alongside it. Lovely to stroll around.

Himeji castle is a must see.
Himeji castle is a must see. Extremely interesting and along with the associated park is a good 3 hour adventure. Free English speaking guides at the entrance will accompany you. Well sign posted with many displays along the route through the castle in English.

I have been here so many times.
I have been here so many times. The castle, Himeji Central Park, the aquarium.... there are so many wonderful places to visit, and at the same time, it is full of terrific shops and restaurants. I don't think there is anybody who would NOT have a good time in this pleasant little city.

The castle exceeded our expectations.
The castle exceeded our expectations. You can access the entire castle and grounds and it is more beautiful than any photo I'd seen of it. Also, the multitude of alleyways and shops is lovely, safe and fun

It is a lovely, but bustling little city.
It is a lovely, but bustling little city. The castle is within sight of just about every hotel. It is worth a day's visit. However, I would avoid it in August; it must be so hot inside, as most places probably were during the 1400s. HImeji Central Park is definitely worth a visit. There is convenient bus service, and the park is often open late on weekends. There is an aquarium, too. The city itself is loaded with old-fashioned shopping streets, closed to cars, and covered, a bonus in case you have forgotten an umbrella. It is indeed a shopping mecca. You will find everything imaginable, and near the castle, loads of old shops PLUS an open-air market that is loads of fun to browse. I am not sure whether it is open daily, so check the days/hours. Finally, there is an open, public space/park right in front of the station that makes hanging around the station area good fun. Several ice cream shops, crepe shops, loads of bread shops. The bread shop in the Hotel Nikko is particularly good, and it is a 15-second walk from the station.
Nice budget option for a night in Himeji. Lovely and clean little guest house with very friendly hosts. We booked out the 6 bed (3 bunks) room for my wife and 2 young boys and was perfect. If staying longer probably want something a bit bigger. Close to a local station one stop from Shinkansen station so very easy transfer coming in from Hiroshima. Short 15 minute walk to the castle which was perfect.
I thought this hotel was of a very good quality - more than a 3 star hotel. The customer service was excellent as it was throughout Japan. The room was comfortable and a good size and it had a great view out over the city. The hotel is close to the station and it was very easy to walk there and also to Himeji Castle. I had breakfast downstairs one morning, which was quite good value for money.
Location right at the train station makes it a good starting point for exploring central Himeji. Also a great location for early morning trains. Many restaurants and shops nearby and walking distance to the castle. Breakfast was on the top floor with great views of the city from the Breakfast room and breakfast was a good mix of Japanese and Western breakfast foods. Good free wifi.
The size of the room is good by Japanese standard. Its location is next to the JR station and shopping areas. It is also a walking distance to the castle, which is very convenient. The room is clean. The public area looks gorgeous (by comparison, the room looks standard). The breakfast area has nice mountain view (although not facing the castle).
conveniently located opposite of to railway station and many restaurants and shops, 20mins walk from Himeji castle. Friendly staff, nice lounge, very quiet, lots of space, separate luggage area (unlike so many other hostels), brand new and super clean, has even a manga library! nice decoration. Beds have private tv/screen.
Amazing location, 10 minutes walk to Himeji station along all the bars and shops, 15 minutes walk to Himeji Castle. Couldn't be any better. The room was pretty spacious for Japanese standards at this price point. The staff tries to speak in English. Great efforts and there is alcohol vending machine.
This hotel has an excellent location near the Jr h i m e j i train station, and on the north side, which is important, because the castle is to the north. It is very easy to get to the castle from the hotel by bus or even by walking. The breakfast was very good
Location was easy and convenient to Himeji castle. I was concerned about parking at first but fortunately we can pay for parking at this hotel. Friendly staff and the room was alright for two people to share.
The amenities were so nice and the room had a great view of Himeji castle! Location was also perfect; right in the middle of a lot of shopping and on the major street. Very walkable.
Good location right next to the train station, easy access to local shopping street and to the main road leading to Himeji Castle. Nice bathroom/shower. Friendly staff, and clean.
It was super convenient being located so close to Himeji Castle and being at the end of the shopping district. Easy access to many restaurants, shops and the castle and garden
Wonderful place to stay in Himeji! Very close to the train station an walking distance to the Himeji castle too. Our room was very spacious and clean with comfy beds.
Good Comfort Hotel with good size room, good breakfast included and in a good location. Walking distance to castle, station and shops arcades and malls.
