Beautiful and friendly town. We went the week leading up to Memorial Day and it was a great time because the crowds were low. Took a trolley tour with Viking and the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He said cruise boats come in September and it gets very crowded. Parking can be a pain and is expensive. Lots of great seafood places to eat. Went to Mystic, CT one day. Can easily do everything in Newport in 2 days. Some of the mansions didn't open until June 2nd, but we saw The Breakers, Marble House and Rosecliff. Highly recommend getting dinner reservations a couple of weeks early (White Horse Tavern, The Mooring, Brick and Alley Pub). Ate at the Newport Lobster Shake and watched the fisherman bring in their catch of the day. Also recommend Anthoy's Seafood in Middletown.

The trolly tour was fantastic and Rob gave us several tips.
The trolly tour was fantastic and Rob gave us several tips. Enjoyed visiting the Breaker Mansion, the cliff walk, Easton Beach. Celebrated our Anniversary dinner at the White Horse Tavern and had an amazing meal! Lots of shops and food places on Thames St near where we stayed at the Harborside Inn. Some places are hard to park so better to walk if possible. Overall great 3 day visit to Newport!

The cutest small town any time of year.
The cutest small town any time of year. I've been in the summer when people fill the beaches and streets, and I've been in the winter when the buildings are decorated with lights and everyone hangs ornaments on a Christmas tree on the beach. Lots of places to walk and explore both along the water and inland, many historical and beautiful buildings to tour, vineyards and beaches to spend your time, and wonderful places to stay.

We loved it all, but especially the Red Parrot and Moorings where we had great food. Ma's Donuts on the outskirts of the town was excellent too, if no good for the waistline. Travel in town is easy out of season. We walked a lot and when driving easily found parking for free.

Unfortunately, I reached the hotel on night of September 23rd whereas my booking Thro Booking.com was from September 24th
The hotel charged almost USD 1000 for one night, which I felt was terrible
Hotel was not full and charging more than double than per night rate of Booking.com left us with bad experience
The staff are so welcoming and friendly. A perfect location in Newport if you want to be in the heart of all the activities and access to everything fun. The room was large over the harbor and soundproof as lots noise at this time of year. Very comfortable everything I needed was there. I love the restaurant for drinks, food and breakfast. The salt water pool inside the hotel was so refreshing on a hot day too. I think the rooms were a bit pricey though as this is a good hotel but not a luxurious high end hotel.
We had a room with a balcony facing the water. This made the stay so very enjoyable ! The suite was perfect with two separate bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The kitchen was large and well stocked, and the living room was nice for visiting. The hotel was located a 20 minute walk from the shops and restaurants which made everything accessible yet gave us privacy and quiet when we retreated back to our “ home away from home “ for the evening. Thank You Wellington Resort for an excellent stay in Newport !
After so many standardized chain-/group-hotels we were happy to stay at an authentic Inn. Tge property is in a great position half way between the wharf and Bellevue Street. We had a comfortable large king size on the ground floor with a hige and high four poster bed and a fireplace. Super clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and attentive. We felt it was great value and even the kids loved the warm atmosphere. When in town, we'll return.
Great location and adorable French-themed hotel. Very comfortable room included table and chairs, with tableware including wine glasses. Breakfast was delivered to the room each morning, with yogurt parfaits and irresistible warm pastries. Carmen at the front desk took the time to give us detailed directions to the must-see's of Newport. Great parking, considering it's in the heart of the city on Thames Street.
Well situated in old Newport within easy walking distance to the town center. The Hotel was a classic early1800s house with all the expected charm. Owner was polite, engaging and was gracious to upgrade us to a larger room. Room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Parking was accommodated via pass for the street as well as the small lot beside one of the homes. Overall it was a very good experience.
Quaint and tastefully remodeled. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was the best. Since we were first-time travelers to Newport, Lisa informed us of nearby attractions, restaurants and local hot spots. The daily breakfast was gourmet status and the staff was able to accommodate a gluten allergy. Highly recommended the room with the balcony-beautiful views. Overall amazing stay!
I have been coming to Newport for over 20 years every summer and love staying at locally owned B&B’s but wanted to try the new Hammetts Hotel. It exceed all expectations with convenient parking under the hotel (Valet) or behind the hotel, right in the center of downtown Newport, modern and very clean rooms and one of the best Italian meals we have had in Newport at Giusto located in the hotel.
The location was phenomenal. The Inn is at the bottom of the main "downtown" area for Newport, so we could just step outside and head north until we found something that piqued our interest. Plus, being right on top of the bar, it was easy to find any wayward group members when we needed to regroup: They were at the bar.
This was the prettiest, coziest, more comfortable place to stay ever. The Innkeepers where so attentive and welcoming, the breakfast was superb and every little thing in this house seemed like they really care for detail… If you’re looking for a safe and homelike place to stay in Newport this is it, stop looking.
Beautiful modern lobby. One Bellevue Restaurant has great coffee and delicious breakfast. Great views and relaxing atmosphere on the Top of Newport Bar + Lounge. There is a beautiful pool, gym, and courtyard to enjoy. The entire hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.
The Hotel is lovely with lots of period furnishings. It is clean and, bright and airy, particularly the breakfast and lounge areas. Staff are friendly and helpful, but also not intrusive. The property has a very homely feel
Kind honest and happy staff the only reason for comfort poor score was the bed was way to soft for me.you will less amenities because of the type of Hotel it is bit i will tell you you will be so happy there!
The hotel location was outstanding, very close to all of the major attractions that Newport has to offer.
The free breakfast was well prepared and carefully laid out by the very attentive staff.
Great location in the center of New Port. Really nice swimming pool area with free bbq's. Kids loved the hotel.
Room was specious and very comfortable with good quality beds.
The price was tempting. The location was close to downtown Newport RI. There was a midsize refrigerator. Car was parked next to room entrance like at motels.
