Super amazing little town with stunning views all around. There is a glacier nearby (forgot the name now, but it is 15km North of Höfn) Which was one of the most breathtaking places we were in our journey through South Iceland!
Simple but comfortable cabin on a pleasant and easily located site four blocks from the main road in Selfoss where there are shops, cafeterias and fast food outlets. The cabin had all that was needed for a short stay. It could sleep three comfortably or four if the bunk above the main bed was used. There was ample on-site parking close by. Check-in and check-out was a friendly and easy process. Selfoss is a good base for exploring the attractions of the Golden Circle or the south Icelandic coast. Iceland is not a budget destination but this was good value by Icelandic standards.
Brautartholt is a small village near the Golden Circle route. It is convenient as a base to access Gulfoss, Geyser, Skaholt etc. It is also near Selfoss and from there, you can explore part of South Iceland (Sejalandfoss, Skogar, Vik etc) as well as near Fludir (Secret Lagoon)
Accomodation to stay before heading off to South Iceland (Black Sand Beach, Plane Wreck, Skaftafell, Jokularson, Hofn, etc.) Cooked ourselves! Instant noodles Asian style! Quite easy, just follow GPS or Google maps (Used by us). Just make sure to drive slower along gravel road and slower still when at night! Can watch Nothern Lights from here but weather dependent, great place to recharge before heading off the next day after their FREE BREAKFAST from 8am-9am.
There's a good restaurant and shop (good for the hotels in the area). Skogafoss is a beautiful waterfall with a brisk, if steep, climb to the top. It is also on the main driving route for South Iceland so it makes a great stop!
small town about 60km from Keflavik Airport. it has a bank- u can chage your currency here, small supermarket, swimming and sports facilities and a great view of the south iceland harbour and Atlantic Ocean.
Selfoss is the largest town in South Iceland, 57 km away from the capital. The restaurants and cafes are situated in the heart of town, along with various kind of shops. There is an outdoor swimming pool with sauna and hot tubs in the city.
Hveragerdi's beauty and what it had to offer surpassed our expectations. It is close enough to Reykjavik that it's an easy drive or bus ride. It's a wonderful place to start exploring South Iceland. Highlights for us were the hike and soak in the Hot River, and staying on a horse farm at the foot of the mountains. Dinner at the Skyr Garden Restaurant was amazing too! We highly recommend a stay in Hveragerdi!
Can be used as a base to explore South Iceland. Within driving distance from many attractions including the glacier lagoon.
Perfect base camp for touring central and south Iceland. Also lacks light pollution, which makes it perfect (weather permitting) for a generous display of the Northern Lights!
Hella
Great and quiet location and close to major attractions in South Iceland, such as Golden Circle, Landmannalaugar, Seljalandfoss, Skógafoss,...Great atmosphere and a shared kitchen fully equipped. We stayed in a very comfortable room with a king size bed and great views. The owner makes coffee, tea and waffles every morning for all the guests and makes great recommendations about places to visit. We highly recommend staying here and we'll definitely stay here again if we come back. Thank you/Gracias from Valencia (Spain).
Wow what a great little property! The rooms are quiet and very small but perfect for a night or two as your travel to see South Iceland or go fishing. There are two great hot tubs that looked directly North toward the Northern lights. The breakfast that is included was also excellent and exceeded our expectations. And finally, my husband loves fishing and the local fishing guide manager took him out for a couple hours. My husband was beyond excited and grateful. Would absolutely recommend this property for short term stay.
Selfoss
1.Very good customer service and responsive. I booked two rooms but they only sent me the code for one. Called customer service and they were able to resolve the issue immediately. 2. I left my IPAD when I checked out but was able to recover the next day. Called customer service to check with the hotel staff. Customer service got back to me an hour later and verified the IPAD was found. Drove back to the property and recovered my IPAD. 3.Very good location in Selfoss. Good base for South Iceland Trips.
The hotel is very well located for any road trip in the South of the country or if you drive via the Ring road. Next to all points of interest nearby: Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, Hofn etc. The room we booked was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, lovely staff, the hotel is very spacious in the middle of nature with mountain and field views and had also nice facilities. We recommend it more than 100% and will definitely book there again if we come back to South Iceland.
Skogar
I liked this place. It is pretty small, but it was quite comfy. Single room has separate entrance from all the rest, which is 2 steps away from the main entrance. Shared kitchen is really nice and had everything I needed, also there is an amazing view of Skogafoss waterfall, mountains and many sheep in the field. Location is good, check-in easy. Didn't meet the host but communication was good. Overall, good place to stay for a couple of nights in South Iceland!
Hvolsvöllur
Gunnar was a very friendly host - he stopped by to see if it was our car in the parking lot that had a flat tire (thankfully, it wasn't). The apartment itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Epic internet speeds - 500mbps download and about 400 upload. If you're working remotely, it will do just fine. Great location to explore a good bit of south Iceland. We would absolutely stay here again in the future.
Hveragerði
It's lovely warm comfortable cabin, that Jon and Rosa have The cabins are spaced out on a slope so are private and nice and quiet The hot tub is a added bonus and even when it's freezing and snowing it's nice and warm The location is great for exploring south Iceland on the main route No 1 Ten mins from Selfoss and 5 mins from supermarket and restaurants at Hivergerdi We loved our stay ......Many Thanks
Hella
Everything. Staff was very friendly & kind, then the view from room was magnificent. Our kids really loved the place and enjoyed short walk every morning to see the horses and play with dog & cat. Gas station is located nearby, so it helps to feel comfortable without worrying the fuel. All the major highlights in south Iceland were easily accessible. The room was clean and well equipped.
Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Good location in busy South Iceland right next to a beautiful waterfall and a seperate excellent restaurant. Not as much value for money as in other parts of Iceland but the south is expensive and in demand. Our room was clean and comfortable if very small, with a view of a paddock of horses. Breakfast is a pre-prepared tray with plenty of food. Not fancy but good.
The location was great! We stayed here for a night after visiting south east Iceland and was a very comfortable one. The staff was super friendly and checked us i even though we were an hour early; that was very nice of them and worked out great for us. It's a very good place to stay during your south Iceland visit. Thank you. Angshuman and Sangeeta Roy
I had a very enjoyable 3 night stay close to several attractions. My bedroom was very comfortable and they provided a hearty breakfast every morning. The hotel staff were very helpful too and helped me plan my stay in Westman Islands. All in all, a great stay during my 2 week Ring Road trip in south Iceland.
Hveragerði
Amazing place to stay - absolutely perfect and faultless and was our favourite place the entire trip! Has everything you need and is incredibly luxurious for an affordable price. Kitchen was well equipped. Owners were so friendly throughout the communication process. Great base if visiting South Iceland.
Hvolsvöllur
Lodging in Iceland is expensive, but this was a great little room with a well-stocked kitchenette, clean and well-kept, with comfy beds and close to a restaurant and a market. It's an easy drive to some great sites—about halfway between Reyk and the main South Iceland attractions.
Contemporary hotel with excellent facilities and a nice vibe, right in the heart of the south Iceland ring road. Upscale restaurant onsite or eateries a stones throw away! I recommend walking up to the church above the hotel for a grand view of the coast and sea stacks.
Selfoss
Convenient to the ‘Golden Circle’ and Selfoss. Provided an excellent printed guide to the sights throughout south Iceland. Even had a hot tub and sauna which we didn’t use. Great open view from our room. Clearly some love and thought has gone into this place.
Breakfast is not included but the location is perfect for northern lights viewing. A beautiful cabin with amazing hot tub. Not too far from all the attractions in South Iceland. This is a great place to stay with your family, we had a toddler and he loved it.
Vík
Everything! We stayed 2 nights in our exploring of South Iceland. We were so cozy and comfortable in one of the cottages. Our children loved saying hello to the chickens and dogs. Breakfast was truly great with the warm homemade bread and waffles.
Selfoss
All very clean ,friendly and helpful staff changed our bedding when requested . Easy to find and pleasant location to explore South Iceland as just off main ring road . By a lake and beautiful church . Bed really comfortable and lovely bedding .
Great modern, clean and spacious rooms. The beds are comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is great with lots of options. The restaurant is also great for dinner. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring south Iceland.
Hella
We liked this place so much, so we came back again for a second stay, after hiking the Laugavegur trail. Great place to stay as a family of 3, enough room for everyone. Clean, cozy and located close to many of South Iceland attractions.
