Located in Borgarnes, 43 km from Thingvellir National Park, Basalt Hotel provides accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar. We liked everything- quiet location (somewhere in the middle of nowhere, surrounded only by nature), hot tube, clean room, view through window, breakfast. There would be nice to stay for more that one night.

One of our favourite places where we stayed in Iceland! Probably the most friendly staff we encountered on our travels in the country. Food was outstanding and baked goods were incredibly good. Felt like you were brought into their home for dinner.

Offering natural hot springs, free Wi-Fi and an in-house restaurant, this farmhouse hotel is in Iceland’s wild Westfjords. Súdavík village is within a 1-hour drive. The accomodation is located in a farm, basically in the middle of nowhere, but it's totally worth taking the long journey in the Westfjords to get to this place. It has a very unique feeling, you are in the nature. I arrived very late, around midnight, but communication with the hotel staff and then self check in was very easy. After arrival I jumped into the hot pool (which is available 24/7), they have both outdoor and indoor pools (in an amazing palm house). Breakfast was divine with a lot of local produce, it's definitely worth the additional 2000 ISK that I had to pay for that. It's a place where I definitely have to return one day.

The location, the welcome and the design/feeling at the Hotel was exemplary. Very friendly staff greeting us and a warm, comfortable vibe in the lobby area made us feel at home quickly. We had a nice room on the 1st floor that was super cozy and nicely decorated - bed was very nice to sleep on :) Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and delicious.

Although it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere, the location was perfect for us! We spent the day going up to Reykholt and Husafell, then stayed at Hotel Varmaland before heading to Snaefellsness Peninsula the next day. It was a beautiful hotel; the views from the dining area were fabulous. Food was excellent.
