Everyone was friendly. The place is warm and cosy. The room was clean and comfortable. Shower pressure was excellent. We specifically asked for a room with a balcony and that is what we got.

This is small family hotel with great pool and very good vine and food. If you need anything more for breakfast, they serve you. Staff is also great. On our trip over Portugal we have stayed in five 4 star hotels (mostly small like this) and this was the best.

Extremely friendly staff, exquisite facilities all very relaxing and zen. loved every second of it. There are no words to describe how great it all was. The interior is absolutely marvellous, with a cinema room, library and a living room, so cozy and beautiful. And having the pool and sauna for ourselves (as you had to book it so it’s private) was just amazing. Would totally recommend for an absolute break from everything, forget about team calls and deadlines. The location is also very nice, although quite narrow streets to drive so not for the faint hearted. 30min drive up in the mountains and you have amazing views and walks. Would also recommend to stay in for dinner - the menu was really good (perhaps the main could still be improved a bit), but overall good value and they easily accommodated for a vegetarian diet.

Staff and Service. Top notch where nothing is too much trouble. Everyone has a smile and the overall vibe is delightful. There was an issue with WiFi in my room and it was responded to quickly and effectively. Food. Absolutely wonderful. The dinner menu at 40 Euros is a bargain... apertif, amuse boche, breads, starter, soup, main, dessert, and coffee. The food is well prepared and the portions are ample. I note the size of portions is much better than a previous stay seven years ago. Room. I stayed in the suite and love its ambience. Snacks. From 4 PM to 6 PM there is a selection of snacks... sweet and savory. They are diverse and change every day.

Wunderfully decorated and clean house. The hosts were really welcoming and gave us a tour through their house of memories, that we will remember. Breakfast was a dream!

This hotel is one which has been recently built or renovated next door to a restaurant and the tourist information centre on the way into the centre on a split level site. Our room was located downstairs from the main entrance and was located away from the main road with a view of the valley. There was free parking adjacent to the property. Breakfast was a good continental buffet which included a number of local cheeses, server three floors down in a room with a view of the lower valley. There was a selection of restaurants at various price points within a short distance of the hotel in addition to the more up market one next door (we tried The central for cheaper local food). The tourist information centre next door is worth a visit to get free walking route maps (using the European coloured flash way markers) in various languages distributed by a very helpful gentleman. There are a couple of supermarkets and bakery for picnic food.

Situated in Manteigas, 16 km from Parque Natural Serra da Estrela, Vila Gale Serra da Estrela features accommodation with a shared lounge, private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Wonderful location right in the glacial valley. Breakfast buffet outstanding
