Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe roads have some wholes but is a general problem in all the region.
The place is big, confortable and full equiped. The owners are super nice. They speak spanish and english. We booked the place to visit Pisa and Florence. It’s very well situated and easy to move. The owner adviced us , where to park for free. We just used the house to sleep and eat morning and night. It was confortable. They have good olive oil. There is a garden full of games for kids, including a trampolin.

NetherlandsThe only disavantage we can think of is the noise from other guests. But this off course also depends on the guests themselves.
Nice cooperation with the host. Everything we asked was possible/arranged. We hired bikes nearby and the posibilies for cycling in the neighbourhood and to Pisa are perfect.

BulgariaI wish I had the courage to practice my German... Probably next time 😉.
This was a last minute booking, however everything was so streamlined efficiently to provide an amazing (starting from a "Ciao, Nina" before being able to say anything when I called Andreas on our arrival) and comfortable experience. Additionally, I felt as though the room was the cleanest and nicest place I've had the pleasure to stay in. Andreas and his wife are great hosts to stay with. I just wish we had more time to spend there.

IrelandStayed in two ground floor apartments. Both were bad, the worst I ever stayed in. The room offered was not the one we booked. We only agreed to accept it because it was described before our arrival as a two room property. In reality, the “second room” is a small kitchen. The smell from the furniture was unbearable. The owner mentioned later that “some people complain about smell” so he is fully aware. Everything was broken and dirty and looked like it was collected from the dump site. All dishes were greasy and cutlery coved in dirt. We asked for a refund but it was declined. So we asked to move us to a different room. The second apartment wasn’t as smelly but it was dirty with almost everything broken and again furniture looking like it was taken for free from a dump site. The ceiling was so low that I could easily touch it with my hand. The ‘room’ was dark with virtually no air circulation and an ancient faulty conditioner. The gas cooker was dirty with broken handles and hardly safe to use. The shower is half-blocked and faulty as water temperature was changing from boiling to freezing and was impossible to regulate. Right outside the apartment, behind the bushes, is a pile of old furniture and other strange things that are an eye sore for anyone who is on holiday. The owner keeps constantly going back and forth to this place causing a disturbance. He also lived right above our ‘room’ and as the walls are paper thin we had the pleasure of hearing the family arguments and children screaming from early hours in the morning. I could go on about the endless flaws on this place forever but maybe I’ll just add some photos to show the depravity of it. After consulting the local health safety authority we were instructed to leave as this place is legally not rentable and is actually a C2 class refurbished storage room as ceiling height is too low. Owner is uncooperative, refused to return money. We paid ~2K for 2 wks but lasted only 8 days!
I checked other reviews of this property and there are complaints of the same nature, some dating from 2015. Seems like the owner is just ignoring them.

SwitzerlandBEWARE! Read this before you book! I paid 1,011 euro for a week to rent this ground studio, take a look at the photos, they speak volumes. This is a converted warehouse or storage room, as classified by Italian cadastrial law and LETTING SUCH A PROPERTY IS AGAINST THE LAW! The place doesn't meet any reasonable sanitary or safety conditions. The ceiling height is not acceptable for a livable accommodation, mold in the bathroom ceiling, rusty gas pipes in the kitchen, greasy dirty old tableware, pots and utensils. The furniture is most likely brought from the junkyard. The smell of the place photos cannot show but it is disgusting. We had to cancel our holiday that incurred further costs for us, leave earlier and contacted Booking for the refund. For our case, we were offered a refund of 147 euro from Booking and nothing from the owner. We will be taking further legal steps to get our refund from the owner and Booking plus the compensation for the ruined holiday and attract a media coverage for this case.
