How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All was good
Super comfortable beds, friendly receptionist, large common areas, super clean, good to socialise, 5 minutes walk from Hiroshima train station, tam just outside. Would recommend and stay here again

The facilities were not quite up to par with other similar places I stayed during my trip. But were clean and fine enough. The bad locker situation is a bit challenging. The door to the rooms doesn’t close tight so any packing/unpacking and general movement can be heard. As well as shower/bathroom facilities. Door to capsule helped so it wasn’t all bad. Long uphill right before property might be tough for those less mobile but it is Hakone, so most people should be used to hills!
Big bed, nice space for a solo traveller. They do allow for two people in each pod which explains size. Helpful staff and nice check in with information. Didnt use kitchen or lounge as I was only staying one night but looked functional for those looking for facilities. I enjoyed being a 5mim walk to the main street but far enough away to be quiet. 10min walk to train stations and closer to bus line stops.

This was a great hostel to stay at as a solo traveller. Met some great people and wound up going to a baseball game which wasn't even a thought on my itinerary! Amenities were clean and the capsules had plenty of space. Mattresses were comfortable and the rooms were a good temperature to sleep.

Very thin walls, lots of noise coming through of people (slamming doors etc). When I booked, it was not completely clear the bathroom was shared (I was in a private room).
Great location to train station, comfortable room with large bed. Staff shows you your room and facilities in person.

Common area is a bit small of lots of people want to eat there.
Very clean. Small kitchen and bathroom with hair dryer and hair straightener. Very welcoming staff.

Rooms were a bit smelly since there was a lack of fresh air (windows weren’t allowed to open).
Super friendly staff! Everything was clean. Nice vibes. Close to Hiroshima station.

Our first night we stayed in the room with twinbed. The room was great, but the window did not close properly, so it was very cold at night and noisy. We needed to turn on the heater, which was it was fine. Downstairs there is a cafe, but unfortunately it was closed the whole time we were there. Not sure if its permanently closed? Anyway, there is a Lawson around the corner for all your needs closed.
Super clean hostel. Great location next to the trainstation. Nice, spacious common room. Washer & dryer available.

It is a perfect place to stay, it’s literally 5 min walking distance from the station so you can go everywhere from there! The staff is super friendly and they can keep your luggage before or after check in!

Comfortable beds, lots of space for your stuff (especially for Japan). Everything was very clean and organised. There is a communal area to chill or meet other guests with some games and book and a well-equipped kitchen.

Few showers and toilets compared to number of beds.
Soft and comfortable bed. Very close to lots of transportation. Atmosphere encouraged socialization but it wasn’t a party hostel.
