Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAt night it can get very hot in the sleeping pod. When I woke up, I was always sweaty. The curtains on the bed really bothered me. They don’t close completely, so if you don’t want someone peeking in, you have to have something to hold it together in the middle.
It‘s a really nice and cozy atmosphere downstairs, you can always meet new people. Upstairs are the dorms and a private room. The bed in the dorm is ok. Nothing too comfortable, nothing too uncomfortable. In your sleeping room you also have a big safe , that you can lock. Also the staff is super nice and kind. Every staff member that I met spoke english and they always tried to help you when you have questions.

Germany… nevertheless there was a lot of huge amounts of dust in some areas, I don't know why. The place didn't made a very clean impression in general on me. Also, the stairs was a litte bit unsafe to climb.
This is a good place to socialise because there's a bar downstairs and it seams their philosophy to bring people from all around the world together. They also offer meals. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. Fair price. They seams to clean all the important things every day; I saw them using an adhesive roller to clean tatami from hairs, for instance. But …

CanadaThe space is a little bit cramped with not a lot of space to put your luggage. There could be more toilets and shower rooms to accommodate everyone.
The hostel is situated near a train station in a cozy neighborhood with a lot of restaurants and shops. It is near most of the attractions in Hiroshima and has easy access to the rest. The staff are really nice and helpful.

United StatesI was unaware there was a female only section. I likely missed it by my own fault, but I would have preferred staying in that area instead of the mixed room. Regardless, I still felt safe. Not many food options in the hostel, though the food that was provided was delicious.
Lovely location not far from the main station, easily within walking distance. Close to convenience stores. Even within walking distance to Peace Memorial Park if you're up for a local hike. Towels are available for a low price, as is laundry access. There is also a section of a wall lined with books to read to your heart's content. Majority of them are in Japanese, though the English ones were still enjoyable. The hostel itself is secure, providing locks on the dorms as well as giving the option to come and go at any time, day or night. There are "safes" in each bunk, large enough to store any valuables; laptops, cameras, etc. The staff was very kind and welcoming. Always greeted me and was great conversation during my visit. The food and drinks on the menu were also top tier.

United StatesGus was very welcoming and was always up for a chat and advice on the area. The hostel was a very brief walk to the nearest station making it very convenient to go to Hiroshima or Miyajima for the day. The people were also very nice and willing to talk to you and it was very easy to make new friends!

BoliviaI actually cancelled a different hostel to stay in this one because I have been alone for a while and was looking for a social hostel with good vibes - a place to make friends and go out (it was the weekend). When I arrived at 9.30pm I was the only one in the common area and the bar was closed. No one else was there until I went to bed at 12.30. The next day a few more people were in the common are but it was still not the social experience I had hoped for.
Nice beds, rooms, common area and facilities. Overall a nice hostel.

JapanI wish there was a small shelf in the bunk to put my glasses to during the night, not just the box for valuables. Rooms are a bit small and there are only 2 toilets and showers, but when I was there, not many people seemed to be around, so for me it was fine.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was clean and the location was good, although not in the middle of the city center.

United KingdomOnly 2 showers and 2 toilets shared between both dorm rooms so there were some waits early in morning or in the evening
Well located within walking distance of most sights. The staff members were friendly and the social space was large and welcoming. Dorm room was very quiet, and laundry facilities were great - washing machine free to use and dryer only 300 yen

United StatesI wish there was a separate lounge room somewhere that is quiet, to get things done, with chairs. And a shelf next to our heads and shoulders in the bunk space.
It's a warm and social environment if you seek it, especially on the first floor in the sake bar, which is almost seamless with the hostel upstairs. I'm not much of a drinker, but it was really nice being able to sample multiple sakes all at one time. Free washing machine for laundry. Only pay 300 yen if you want to use the dryer. They allow some access to the kitchen down in the sake bar when they're not open and serving the public. There is a fridge and microwave upstairs. Anything you need, they will help, when possible. Dad was too hard for my back and hips, so they gave me a second futon topper. Super easy access to both the streetcar and to the train station.

United KingdomOh my goodness it was hot at night. I’m prone to overheating so take it with a pinch of salt. Woke up sweating a few times and struggled to sleep. Also, the beds are like capsules, which isn’t bad, but it was kind of a challenge to actually climb up to the second bunk without slipping!
There is a bar downstairs which had a good atmosphere, and wasn’t loud late which is more important. Allowed to store bags when checking out for free! Staff were amazing and friendly. The location is also pretty good as it’s close to the subway station.

IrelandSnoring, cannot be avoided sometimes. Sensitive sleeper, but I can deal with it like a pro! The time was too short for staying there. Could have been longer!
I especially liked the warm welcome and that I made friends for life. It was fun to hang out in the common room, playing video games with strangers, and all in all it's a great location to get there to anywhere you like within Tokyo.

FinlandA bit cramped and noisy. The bar has customers up to the small hours and the noise can be heard in the sleeping area. Rules are not enforced..? Other guests used hair dryes and washing machines during quiet hours. The door between the bar and hostel was left open many times so I was woken up by noise from the bar. The sleeping pods get stuffy very quickly and has thin mattresses. Could be an excellent hostel by doing some fairly simple improvements.
The hostel is mostly clean and has good facilities. Social atmosphere due to the bar downstairs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Pretty good location for main attractions and quick access to the trains.
